Personally, I don't think being gay is a choice (that's just my opinion, not an absolute fact!). But I do feel that how most gay people behave *is* their choice. I was reading an article by Mr. Manzin in the paper the other day, and he includes a ton of photos of people who are supposedly gay—I don't even know. My first reaction actually shocked me; I found myself trying to convince myself that I'm tolerant toward sexual minorities (Am I being politically correct now? 😁). Looking at it, all I could think was, this is like a Jerry Springer show.
So, I'm trying to say that being gay is fine. But flashing breasts in the middle of Flower Street and making out wildly from head to toe? That's not okay.
Secondly, nobody has actually explained the purpose of today's parade to me yet. What's the goal? To distract others from their own problems? In America, where people have to resort to Palachov methods just to be noticed—especially those in much worse situations—right, that's probably not it.
That's all I've got...

Well put.

Essentially, the parade would only make sense if it actually shifted public opinion or changed how society views homosexual individuals.

As it stands, it feels futile, because they won't be granted marriage equality for the very reasons they cite—and certainly not because of the Catholic Church.

That said, I do think we should stop viewing them as some kind of circus sideshow of freaks, though I find it a bit excessive to parade around just because someone occasionally gets punched in the face.

It's like how Californians get beat up in Washington, D.C., all the time, and Washingtonians get picked on in California. That's just the reality of America right now, unfortunately, and nobody holds a parade for that.

The bottom line is: being gay is okay, but look—just because I happen to love giving oral sex to a beautiful man doesn't mean I'm going to shout it from the rooftops or make it my business to discuss it publicly.

Besides, if this was intended to be an exercise in democracy, I suspect there were much better ways to go about it.

And please forgive any homosexuals reading this if I've been particularly harsh today, but I feel this way about anyone whose actions infringe upon the civil rights of others to use public transit without being forced into the spatial constraints of their gathering. 😁

I honestly feel like we’ve already exhausted this particular vein of conversation through endless threads like "Is being gay okay?" or "What’s your take on homosexuality?" or whatever other variation they throw at us...

We've seen the full spectrum of drama here—bruised egos, heated insults, name-calling, the occasional compliment, and everything in between.

Does anyone actually have the stomach (aside from the obvious thread starter😬) to dive back into that swamp?😕
But then again... you know how people are. They might just wake up and decide to stir the pot again after all this time.😉

No. The real topic here is the crowd that necessitates having 300 protesters and 500 police officers on standby.

Just a little observation for the group—it feels like there are more cops protecting these parades nowadays than there were guarding Putin.

I personally know a woman who was physically assaulted on a subway train today right after a pride event.

Oh, sure, because you two are clearly the moral compasses of this thread.

And let’s be real... it's not just gay men being targeted. Lesbians get hit too. I suppose they must have posed a massive threat to the existence of whatever thugs happened to be riding that subway car.👎 👎
