Thanks for the clarification. Regarding this Visa debit card linked to my checking account—it mentions I can make installment purchases up to $333... does that mean I can go into my overdraft up to $333, or is that a completely separate limit? Essentially, if I am already sitting at $67 within my allowed overdraft right now, would I be able to buy something on an installment plan for up to 800, or is the limit actually $333?

You can, since that's a specific limit. 😉

And how exactly am I supposed to settle that balance... does it just get pulled from my checking account every month, or what?

Exactly, it gets pulled from your current balance in equal installments based on how many months you chose for the purchase. That first payment kicks in one month after you buy the goods.

I’ve got a question... I think I was dropped from the student package the second I started my professional training, yet I still have a student American Express card that doesn't expire for another 10 days. When I went to pick it up, the teller basically brushed me off. She said they don't even bother verifying student status; as long as you pay your bills on time, they couldn't care less.
A little while ago at the bank, I asked the same thing and she couldn't give me a straight answer. 🙄 She just offered her "opinion" that I wouldn't be eligible for it anymore since I'm no longer a student. It’s hard to know who to trust when the staff is this clueless. ☕
I sent an email to their official card services department, so now I'm just waiting. Honestly, I doubt I'll hear anything. I haven't even received any mail at my house regarding a replacement card. 😢

Hey there. Quick question: can I still use my overdraft if my Inspire card hasn't shown up in the mail yet?

Can I actually use this Visa card to buy stuff from international websites directly, without having to go through PayPal? Also, can I pull money from my PayPal account onto the card?

Well, I’d say yes—and yes again.

But you’ll definitely need a token for that. Then again, if you’ve already signed up for one of those student packages, you should be getting an mToken anyway—so there's really nothing to worry about.

I used to have an American Express student card, but they closed my account because I missed a single payment deadline. It’s been about a year since that happened, so I was wondering—is there any actual chance of getting the card reactivated?
I'm still using my student checking account over at JPMorgan Chase.

Maybe.
Or maybe not.
Who on earth knows.
What do you think—who actually holds the answer to that question?

With my JPMorgan Chase student package, I have an interest-free installment option up to $333.
That offer expires on December 31st. I was wondering if I could buy something now on a 6-month plan... would that mean the final payment actually hits in 4 months??

You can. Honestly, they’ll just extend it for another six months anyway if you keep playing by the rules.

Hey, I’ve got a quick question for you guys. What actually happens when my student status expires? It’s been about six months now, so I'm starting to wonder if I need to head back to the registrar to show my transcript again or if I need to bring some kind of official paperwork just to get an extension. Also, I’ve got this negative balance of $33 on my account—what’s the deal with that if it’s set to expire soon?

Does anyone here have firsthand experience with what actually happens if you miss an American Express payment by just a few days—say, missing the deadline on the 10th of the month? My situation is a bit awkward—my paycheck doesn't hit my account until the 15th, but the American Express bill is due on the 10th. Will they go ahead and freeze my card immediately, or will I just be looking at some interest charges for being a little late?

This card has an overdraft limit of $667. How long can I actually stay in the red before they start hitting me with interest or whatever else?

And I’m assuming there's zero interest as long as I'm within that grace period?

That negative balance you're seeing on the Amex isn't actually an overdraft—it’s just your available credit limit for purchases made on installment plans. You’ll only run into a true negative balance on your Visa Inspire checking card, specifically $333.

Think of it this way: if you pick up something with your Amex and decide to split the cost over, say, six monthly installments, you'll just see one portion of that total hit your statement each month. It's interest-free, which is a nice little perk! Just keep in mind that the Amex isn't meant for things like withdrawing cash from an ATM or anything similar.

Everything should be laid out clearly in that link you shared, too.
