Intelligence isn't actually about what you eat
it’s more about how you eat and how much you consume
People with higher IQs tend to favor healthier, more moderate diets

So—what's the actual point here... is it about being vegetarian or just looking smart?
If you want to go veggie, just do it—no need to pull the "intelligence" card.
And if you're just trying to act smarter than you actually are, do you really think eating plants is gonna help?

What do I think? Honestly, I can’t remember the last time I heard something quite this ridiculous. ☕

*RE* said:Honestly, I don't get it, and it kind of bugs me—why is there such a huge need to attack vegetarians?
If nobody's forcing a plant-based diet on you, why bother picking on people who just made that choice for themselves?

Not forcing it? I mean, if this thread isn't basically just propaganda, then what is?

It’s always like, "We vegetarians are clearly more enlightened than you mere mortals, so join us and live our glorious, super-intelligent lives, blah blah blah."

Wraith said:I suppose if you think a bowl of lettuce is enough protein to fuel brain development, then more power to you... Personally, once I hit 18, I couldn't care less about what people eat, but children really ought to be eating meat rather than becoming a permanent burden on the taxpayers. At least, that’s my take on it...

I suspect you have a point there. Children definitely need a diverse diet, which I guess inevitably includes meat as a primary source of protein. It seems especially important for young athletes and kids who are still growing.

They just cook up some ridiculous premise, build an even more nonsensical question on top of it, and then sit back while everyone else tries to answer
Then, based solely on those flawed premises and biased responses, they suddenly claim to have reached a "scientific conclusion."🙄

Ego said:I can't say I'm surprised... it feels like vegetarianism has become more of an intellectual fashion statement lately, mostly pushed by people trying to look smart rather than anyone actually being driven by logic.

There’s definitely a lot of that going on, but honestly, sticking to a vegetarian diet isn't easy. That's why so many people who just do it for show end up quitting after a few weeks.
For me, being vegetarian isn't a trend—it's just who I am. It’s how I think and how I feel, and I couldn't change even if I wanted to. I've been called stupid or pretentious for it more times than I can count... so now, seeing a study pop up that fuels this kind of debate, I'm sure plenty of non-vegetarians are using it as "proof" that we're all just self-important fools.
Maybe I'm being too cynical here, but hey, feel free to prove me wrong.

Maybe I'm jumping to conclusions here, but fine—go ahead, try to change my mind.

Why on earth would you be "stupid" or "self-righteous" when actual "studies" seem to suggest otherwise? 😎

Look, I don't have a problem with vegetarians—really, I don't mock anyone—but from my experience, some of you can be incredibly exhausting when you start preaching about your "healthy" lifestyle. And frankly, based on what we know about nutrition, there are massive amounts of omega-3 fatty acids that are proven to help with anxiety, depression, and all that other stuff. 😎

There is absolutely zero scientific proof that vegetarians are inherently smarter, healthier, or even live longer than non-vegetarians who actually eat balanced meals and maintain a healthy weight.

A single study is one thing, but actual scientific evidence is something else entirely. 😛

Exactly, Thomas Martinez67. If you didn't spend all your time talking nonsense, you might actually find yourself working at the Millennium.

Everything I have to say regarding this is simple: vegetarians—those who refuse to eat meat—clearly view the world through a different lens, or perhaps they’re just more sensitive than the rest of us...
My take? To possess those kinds of traits, you generally need a higher level of intelligence, though there isn't a strict rule there. There are plenty of highly intelligent meat-eaters out there, myself included...😬
One day I’ll find myself sitting there, devouring a crispy roasted chicken, feeling a wave of pure disgust at the sight of it. But it is what it is. I just close my eyes and finish the meal. I suffer in silence...
Then again, who knows. Maybe vegetarianism is actually some kind of disorder, considering humans are essentially scavengers. We eat whatever lands in front of us. Case in point: a buddy of mine once ate a plastic tomato because it was right there on the table. He didn't even realize it until someone told him much later...

Why do people—vegetarians in this case—try so hard to act all intellectual, yet they’re the first ones throwing shade at actual intelligence (just look at that poll over in the Quincy subforum)?😕

Xerox said:It’s not being pushed? Then what else is this thread if not pure propaganda?

Basically: "We vegetarians are smarter than you mere mortals, so join us and live a magnificent, enlightened life, blah blah blah."

You're being paranoid again... 😳
I think reality works a bit differently😉. I know what I am, and I know what I experience firsthand, along with others facing the same "issues."
I don't lecture anyone about how they live, and I certainly don't want to be lectured myself... but I'll be blunt: I'm not eating carrion just because someone keeps shoving it under my nose.

The title is actually a bit off. It really should read:

The more intelligent ones DO NOT eat meat.😉
