Can anyone point me in the right direction? I’m looking for a really talented makeup artist out in the Santa Barbara area, and I definitely need a phone number too. Thanks! 🙂

- Does anyone know how to go about renting out a villa in California, like who actually handles those bookings, and is that even a realistic option to look into??

- Also, what’s the vibe like at the Honey ballroom, is it actually worth it?? I'm wondering about the size, if there are different options for larger or smaller groups...

- Regarding CATERING—I keep seeing these price ranges mentioned on various forums, anywhere from $20 to $33—but what does that actually cover? To be totally clear, I’m looking for full wedding catering, meaning all the actual courses you'd expect to be served at a reception in a banquet hall, where someone just takes care of the cooking and the plating... is that what those prices mean?? Or is the standard expectation around here more for simple finger foods and appetizers?

The California villa is managed by the city of San Diego. You’ll have to reach out to city officials directly; unfortunately, I don't have a specific contact. About a year ago, the rental rate for a single day was $7.00.

A catering quote of 60 to $33 definitely isn't covering a full meal service. That sounds more like the price for a light cocktail hour or a small welcome reception. Real catering costs are significantly higher than those figures. Good luck.

Brian Martin98, thanks so much.

I actually just stumbled upon some info while I was out and about, and it looks like the rent is sitting at 20 $0.00 plus an extra 3 $0.00 for cleaning services... oh, and apparently, you can't just rent out the villa as a private individual, it has to be through a legal entity, like maybe an event planning agency or something similar in the States...

A girl I know had a party there once; I think she rented the California villa through a florist who handled all the decor and everything. Now, I'm not sure if you could pull off a similar setup, or if that florist was even registered as an event company or something like that...🤷 maybe try asking a catering company if you can book the villa through them? There’s always a way to work around these things.

I actually know a great event firm over in San Diego, so if you want, I can shoot you their contact info via DM. They handle catering, venue rentals, flowers—basically the whole nine yards.
What’s the deal with the banquet halls/restaurants in San Francisco? I’m looking at Olympia and the Grand Canyon right now, but I have no clue if the food is actually any good... Would love some help from anyone who’s been to a wedding there or hosted their own party 🙂[/QUOTE

So, we were over at my godparents' place for their wedding—it was at this hall way up in Appalachia near San Francisco. I can't for the life of me remember the actual name of the venue, but man, the food was incredible and the whole vibe was just spot on. 😁My godmother told me when she was scouting locations that people warned her the food at the Grand Canyon is total garbage—apparently, the only reason anyone goes there is because you can't beat that view. 🙄
Red Sox Nation? 😁

I think the Grand Canyon is fantastic—great location and a solid room—but I've also heard the food isn't exactly top-tier. 😢

The Grand Canyon is fine if you aren't dealing with a massive crowd... personally, I can't stand that dance floor. If they pack the place, it gets way too cramped.
As for the food, I can't really get full on it anymore, but I'd say it was somewhere in the middle. Nothing spectacular, but not total garbage either.

In Vegas, you've still got Ponta and Imperial, which in my opinion blow the Grand Canyon out of the water. I didn't try any of the other buffets, so I can't really weigh in on those.

I could really use some help here. We still need to book our photographer and videographer, but I can't seem to find a dedicated list of pros on the forum. If anyone has any solid recommendations, I’d truly appreciate it. To be honest, I'm feeling a bit lost—I have no idea what the typical price ranges look like or how far in advance we even need to secure someone. Any advice would be great.
I could really use some help, please.
Thanks.

I had the pleasure of working with Siniša Srdanović and Goran Matić for my project. Honestly, their work is just flawless—they are incredibly talented and clearly dedicated to what they do. I actually went through the process of vetting about nine different photographers before finding them, but nothing seemed quite right; I just couldn't find anyone who truly captured the right vibe for both the photos and the video. Finally, this duo clicked for me, and I am genuinely thrilled with the results. I ended up paying the full amount about a year ago...
It's about 1,400, though I have a ton of really beautiful photos, a few DVDs, and we even did some follow-up filming later on. If you're interested, I guess I could give you my number.

Thank you.

I second everything said above. That same duo handled both the photography and the videography for my big day. I am beyond thrilled with the photos and the digital copies we received.👍
Highly recommend them to everyone!

Dennis Wood79 said:Quick question... does anyone know if people rent out limos for weddings in San Francisco or the surrounding area? I need one ASAP!! I've been searching online, but I just can't find 😢

Honestly, this would be way cooler than a limo... http://img687.imageshack.us/i/pirslika.jpg/

The only issue is its maximum range 1.2 miles ....

I could really use some help here... I’m looking into a wedding happening out in Phoenix this March. Does anyone know if it’s possible to hire a local choir to perform just one single song during the ceremony or maybe right after? If you have any specific song suggestions or a solid contact, please let me know.

Thanks,

Thanks,

Sure thing, almost every choir does that sort of thing.😉
Unfortunately, I don't have a contact for you.

Christian Wright6, hit me up—I’ve got a choir ready for the church service and some backup... but man, you guys really went overboard with those prices mentioned in the song...

While we're on the subject of getting paid... it really all boils down to what kind of work you're actually doing and if you have to deal with travel on your own dime.

Has anyone here actually been to—or better yet, hosted their own wedding at—the Arsenal in San Diego?

I’m absolutely loving the vibe of the place, but I’m totally in the dark regarding whether the service and everything else actually holds up...

I don't have an answer for you, but I am absolutely in love with that venue. Honestly, if I lived in San Diego, I'd get married there. 😍

Pre-Krasno.

It might be doable. They have a restaurant up there, plus plenty of space downstairs for a band and dancing. Your best bet is to just give 🙂
a call and ask.

The Ambience is Pre-Krasno, truly... but it is quite pricey. It was around $75 per person, I believe, and I don't think pizza, cake, or even dessert was included. I'm not even sure if the lamb was part of the deal? I just remember the total being incredibly high, even though so much was missing.

I had actually wanted to host my wedding there, but it felt like a bit too much for us...
Maybe try giving them a call and asking... I honestly can't recall all the specifics, since we were looking into it back in June.

Thanks for the info, Charles Gomez4.

I actually just stumbled upon their website yesterday and saw that Arsenal does weddings. They’re charging $75 per person regardless of whether you go with a sit-down dinner or a buffet. They have a specific menu for each option that looks pretty decent—it's very classic stuff, though—but keep in mind lamb is included while drinks and dessert are extra.

Look, I am completely new to all of this, and if things keep moving at this pace, I’m going to have maybe a few months left to get everything organized. I’m originally from San Diego, but work moved me away a long time ago, so I’m a bit out of the loop here. I honestly have no clue what the deal is with other restaurants or what kind of price points we're looking at. Ideally, I'd love for the venue to be on a peninsula or somewhere really close by. I’m also not sure how other spots operate—like, do they just host dinners, or do they actually have space for a band and a dance floor? I know Arsenal has the full setup. And that’s just the first thing on my list... I haven't even started looking into bands or DJs yet. Ugh, I feel like Bambi in the headlights right now.
