Kyle Ortiz2 said:What do you guys think? Do I have any shot at finding a venue in San Diego for 200–250 people—including the band and photographer—with only nine months left until September 2009? Or should I just push everything back to May or June 2010?
It all feels so far away. You make this huge decision and then you're stuck waiting for a year and a half.🙂

When I tried to book for early September 2009, nothing we wanted was available, so we ended up settling for October 17th.🤷

I actually put down a deposit back in June 2008 for a wedding in September 2009!
I had my heart set on a Bolero, specifically because it’s one of those massive venues that can host up to 200 people without breaking a sweat.
Honestly, our whole family thought we were being ridiculous when we told them how far out we were planning! 🤷
But look at us now—it's all happening in less than a year! 😍 The reality is just how it works; if you want anything decent, you basically have to aim for December, January, February, or March.
Since it's so cold during those months, they aren't exactly the most "popular" times to get a prime spot, you know?

That’s what I was thinking. Better to just book for June 2010 now—at least then we can actually pick our own photographer and band.🙂 My parents just laughed when I mentioned 2010; they couldn't believe we'd be waiting that long.🙂

Does anyone have photos of a hall that seats about 120 to 130 people? Or maybe some floor plans I could look over?

I checked out the arcade earlier, but even though they claim it holds 120–130 people, it felt pretty empty to me. I was thinking about grabbing some BBQ ribs, but the prices jumped up so much I decided against it. Everyone keeps recommending Hotel Honey or some spot in San Diego near a Target, but I don’t even know the name or where it's located, so I'm stuck. I'm also debating whether it's actually wise to drive home drunk from San Diego.

I can give you the lowdown on my venue... it's in Savannah, the one everyone mentions being above Walgreens... actually, it's not below it, it's right on the top floor of the building... 😍
The hall is called Bellevue....you're looking at a minimum of 130 people in that space... For anything else, just shoot me a PM.
As for whether it's smart to drive home drunk from Savannah? Man, I don't know what to tell you... if you were at any other venue, you'd be asking the exact same thing...

That's exactly why I gave up on it too.🙂 How much is the Admiral charging you? I haven't heard anything about them hosting outdoor events... I find it hard to believe they actually have a patio big enough for 130 people... What time does the music stop?

Look, that place in Savannah under the Walmart is Bellevue. You also have the Castello room—smaller, better for your group size—plus you've got Ino and Mammoth... all in the San Francisco Bay Area area.
San Diego options: NIRS near Bilica, the Officers' Club in Lori, Pirate, and Kokolo.
Dugopolje: Sun, Phoenix, Dolis.
TTTS: Imenjak, and there's a new one opening up, but I can't remember the name.
Along Omiš Road, you've got: Amigos, Diocletian, and Anthony.

I hope I didn't miss anything.

As for those drunks at the Pirate house... I had a wedding at Slanica once, and I had the same concern. But look, you can find a drunk idiot anywhere in San Diego. 🤷 Besides, anything can happen anywhere. If we lived by that logic, we'd never go anywhere at all.

That’s what I thought too... but they convinced me that if something happens, everyone will just remember the happy parts of the celebration instead of the mess. It's less likely someone will cause a scene like that in San Diego, though nothing is ever certain...🙂

P. S. star Mornar and round tables... those two just don't belong together...😲

38 bucks. And honestly, I’m fine with being outdoors—I’ve been out there. If it starts raining, we can just move everything inside. This past summer, I went to that Pirate festival and visited Ian over in Bilica, and I nearly died from the heat, just like everyone else. That’s why an outdoor setup works for me. Slanica charged me $333 plus 2 bucks per chair. It would be absolutely perfect for the summer, though it's a bit too far out in

What about drinks? I haven't stepped foot in any of those venues, so I have no idea. I wouldn't count on being able to play music outside as late as you'd want, either...🤷

They didn't mention any restrictions regarding the music or the drinks. That said, the deposit is $1,000—though that rate only applies if you book within this calendar year.

You definitely should have asked about that if being outdoors is a priority. Over at the VFW hall across the street, they told us there's absolutely no outdoor option behind building one. Apparently, they had major issues with it before...😢 Well, regarding the deposit, you get that back anyway... It doesn't seem too bad, though I'm not sure how many people actually want to be outside. They say all sorts of things, then it turns out to be something else entirely...🤷

I have no clue, honestly. I'll ask someone outside, then head over to Target in San Diego to clear my head before making a call.

Hey, what’s the deal with this Polaroid group? Has anyone actually been to one of their parties where they were drinking?

Does anyone happen to have any information regarding the local rock climbing associations? I would be truly grateful for any insight you could share.

There was some mention of them before—was it Duo Ferrata? I think she was confused about whether they were the ones, but she seemed really happy if it was them.😉

Since they perform both as a full band and as a duo, it seems there is some level of satisfaction there. I would personally love to experience Viva, but the costs are simply too high for me right now. My partner is keen on seeing them, so we are currently trying to figure out our options and see what might be possible.

What date are you looking at?
I just got back from a party where Viva played, and man, they were incredible. They are worth every single cent. 🙏🙏🙏
