So, our wedding is officially in the books, 🙂 and since I moved from Chicago to San Diego and had absolutely no clue where to even begin with the planning process, I figured I’d share our experience—hopefully, it helps someone else out there. 🎉
We ended up choosing Pinet Restaurant in Kožin. Out of all the smaller venues and restaurants we looked at, they were the only ones who actually came prepared for us. We were met by Kate, who had all the folders, photos, and menus ready to go—she was the perfect mix of professional and genuinely warm. We managed to hammer out almost all the details during our very first meeting, though I did end up calling her probably a hundred times afterward; she was incredibly patient and stayed upbeat through every single call. The food was fantastic, the staff was lovely, and everything went exactly as planned. In fact, about ten of us younger folks hung out until around 4:30 AM, and they even went as far as asking if we needed a ride home! We arranged to have the tables set up the day before, so my sister and I came by to handle the decorations ourselves, and they were kind enough to pack everything away neatly the day after the wedding.
There are plenty of wedding halls and restaurants around San Diego, but we focused on the smaller spots since our guest list was under 100 people.
Besides Pinet, we checked out Roko in Borik, Hotel Fortuna in Murvika, San Antonio in Vruljica, and we also reached out to Ražnjević dvor in Polača and Lavander Bar in Biograd.
We crossed Ražnjević dvor and Lavander Bar off our list immediately because they were simply way out of our price range. Roko was actually my first choice, but after showing up for a scheduled meeting and finding nobody to greet us—even after I called the day before to confirm we were coming—we decided to pass. That kind of unprofessionalism is just a dealbreaker. Hotel Fortuna in Murvika was decent enough, but the owner was... well, let's just say he was pretty strange. San Antonio in Vruljica was just okay, so we kept looking.
For flowers, we went with Matea's Flower Shop. The owner is wonderful; she worked entirely within our budget and managed to create what I honestly think were perfect arrangements and a bouquet for a very reasonable price.
Maja Erceg did my makeup, and I went to Irena in Relja for my hair—I was absolutely thrilled with both.
As for dessert, we got the cake and sweets from Allo, and both us and our guests were really happy with them.
