I'm just glad you were happy with everything... at the end of the day, that's what matters most.
Let me know how the photos and the DVD turned out. I actually used Photo Color myself, so I'm curious to hear your thoughts. 🙂
Look, Kato,
What else is there to say? I feel like a broken record, but what choice do I have? In this situation, maybe repeating myself is actually a good thing. 😉
The DVD is gorgeous. As for the photos, they’re just on the DVD inside the album. 😁
I am absolutely thrilled!
As for you—just relax and enjoy it.👍

Should I go ahead and order the cakes and pastries?
How much stuff do you actually need for a crowd of 170? 😲
Everyone agreed to me without even mentioning dessert—is that because they don't offer sweets, or did they just assume I'd be baking everything myself? 🤷
But let's be real, there's no way they're doing it. 😬

For cakes, I’d suggest the Mississippi Delta... I'm thinking about using them too. I'm hosting about 200 people and they told me I'll probably need something like 10 cakes. 🤷 As for the pastries... all I know is most restaurants now demand store-bought goods with a receipt and a health certificate. Not sure if that applies to Mammoth yet, but honestly, in my experience, desserts are never included in the catering package... back in the day you could just bring your own homemade treats on your own dime, but then these new laws hit. Hope that helps. 😉

I was actually thinking about ordering from somewhere like Bobis or maybe down in the Mississippi Delta... I assume they all offer delivery, but I’m just not sure how much I should get.
I know back in Honeycomb you could grab a combo deal that included their pies, so that's why I mentioned getting the meal without the dessert.🤷

When it comes to cakes, you should probably plan on one cake serving about 20 people. So, for a crowd of 200, I’d suggest aiming for 10 cakes if you're going with something like a croquant; however, if you opt for a traditional wedding cake, maybe 2 or 3 fewer would suffice. If you're thinking about serving extra sweets later on, you might want to account for one additional cake just to be safe.
I’d also suggest looking into the Mississippi Delta, at least regarding their decorations. I haven't personally tried them, but I imagine the flavors are somewhat similar—there's just nothing quite like homemade, I suppose.
The closest local option would be an American Pie. They are located up in the hills, right near that famous first Kerum shop (at least, that's how it was explained to me! :-). Generally speaking, the women there make absolutely wonderful cakes and wedding treats.

I believe most of those places provide delivery services, so you probably don't need to worry about that part too much.
Generally speaking, hotels tend to include desserts in their menus since they have the facilities on-site to make them, which makes it quite profitable for them. It's pretty rare to find standalone bakeries or restaurants doing that, at least around here in the States.

Does anyone have any good bands they could recommend for a parade in front of the house? Unfortunately, the Carriage is already booked up a year in advance for August 1st. 😢 🙂 🙂

Hey, 👋 does anyone know of a hall or a restaurant near the coast—or even just close by—that has an outdoor terrace capable of holding about 100 people?
I'm looking somewhere between Key West and Charleston, so if you have any leads, please let me know. 😉

St. Croix is such an incredible venue—I just walked back from the banquet about half an hour ago. It would be so nice if 🙂

I'm scouting for a spot for a friend; she visited St. Croix recently and mentioned the weather was absolutely miserable, so she wouldn't even bother going inside—she’d just want to hang out on the patio. Does anyone know if the food there is actually any good?

The food was incredible—super fresh and everything was just five bucks! 🙂 By the way, we ended up grabbing a beer in the hall since it was pouring rain outside.

I actually had my wedding out in Malibu—about 100 guests—and the whole reason we picked that spot was for the beach and the ocean views. The venue itself is indoors (and honestly, gorgeous)—it’s basically wrapped in floor-to-ceiling glass with outdoor lighting, so you can see the water perfectly all night long from inside. They even added two massive terraces right on the beach recently, where they put out these big, comfy lounge chairs... perfect for just chilling out and listening to the waves. 😍

I’ve been reading through everything from the start—there is a massive amount of info here—so while I work my way through the archives, I’ll just lay out what we're looking for. If anyone can help, thanks in advance 😛
We’re based in Los Angeles, and the wedding needs to happen within the next 10 months 😉
We both love the outdoors—we have roots in rural areas—and we want a venue near a river that can host up to 200 people (we're finalizing the guest list this weekend)
The main issue: guests are coming from all over the country, so it would be great to get lodging sorted immediately for those traveling from far away
Our wishlist: plenty of food—more than enough—that stays replenished; waiters who are smiling, quick, unobtrusive, yet helpful; a band that covers everything from classic rock to mainstream hits and actually knows how to keep the energy up (I have zero patience for bad performances); and a photographer who can deliver unique shots with the thank-you photos ready by midnight at the latest
Current short list: a local steakhouse in Riverside, a bistro in Riverside, or maybe Castle Slanica at the Radmanov mills...
Viva is already booked, and they were our top pick
Regarding photographers, does Fox seem like the best bet?
And we need to pull all of this together in about 4 months tops...
Thanks to everyone helping me out
If you liked Viva, you might want to check out the group Flash. They play everything—I think they've even backed Celine Dion, so they definitely know their stuff. Even Viva recommends them on her site if they're unavailable.
There hasn't been much talk about them on the forum, but some pros in the music industry suggested them to me, and I haven't regretted it. Plus, they aren't booked out a year in advance. 😉
Out of those venues, Slanica is the prettiest to me 😍—romantic and unique—but I wonder if it'll be too chilly by late November? 🤷

I've heard good things about the San Antonio, but I'm wondering if the food is actually any good and what the price range looks like. Also, can they host an outdoor reception on those terraces, or is everything strictly indoors? Thanks! 🙂

Prices really depend on what you order, but I'd budget about $55 per person.
I'm pretty sure the owner would let you do a wedding on the terrace too, but honestly, go check out the hall first. With a glass hall that gorgeous—and since the walls slide open when the weather is nice—it feels like a total mistake to skip it just to stay on the beach.
The older crowd will probably want to sit inside (especially on those breezy evenings), while the younger folks usually end up drifting between the dance floor and the beach anyway—that’s how it went at my place, at least. Since the walls were open, the music carried outside perfectly, so people could dance under the stars. Everything is so close to the water here... seriously, you're just a few feet away. You could practically spit from the hall and hit the shallows. 🤣
Plus, you've got a backup plan if it rains or gets chilly—which happened to me once. We had a downpour in the afternoon that cooled everything off... though it didn't stop people from jumping straight into the ocean or the pool. The hotel actually has a pool on the rooftop that guests can use whenever.

So, I was thinking about those old spots—Hotel Atlantic and the Honey place over in Savannah. Honestly, they just don't make them like they used to, you know? You look at places like that now and it’s almost nostalgic, but also kind of frustrating how much things have changed since the heyday of the coast. It’s one of those things where you start down one thought and end up wandering through a whole dozen different memories of better days.🤷
Seget Amigo
P.S. I’ve gotta say—I am really not a fan of that terrace at the Holy Crisis.🤷
#1578 ·
Thanks, guys. Both my friend and I have heard nothing but great things about San Antonio, though neither of us has actually made the trip yet—but we definitely plan to. As for the Holy Cross, that’s probably out; once you realize something isn't your vibe, it usually stays that way. 👍

Thanks so much, ladies....
We’re looking at roughly 360 people, give or take a few........
As for the date, we were leaning towards August 6th or maybe August 13th, 2011. I’m asking now because I really want to make sure we book a nice, airy, spacious hall—somewhere where we won't be melting from the heat—and those dates just work best for us. Mostly because family is coming in from all over the country, so everyone is usually free during the summer........plus, honestly, our budget isn't quite ready for this until next year anyway....
If you happen to know of any other venues located somewhere along the route from the Industrial District through San Francisco and over toward Savannah....that can accommodate about that many guests............please hit me up via private message!
Also, I've been wondering, is it actually worth the hassle to DIY the invitations and the boutonniere kits? Like, is it a total waste of time?
And does anyone know the best spots to shop for everything, from the paper stock to the flowers and all that stuff..........
If you have any other advice at all, please share it.....thanks a million, and good luck to all the future brides out there! I hope everything turns out exactly how you envisioned it........😍😉🙂

Uff, isn't two years in advance a bit much?😲 I booked mine a year and three months ahead, and even that felt way too early, but that was only because I was hunting for a specific venue in San Francisco and my guest list is huge. Honestly, I don't think a restaurant would even be able to give you an accurate quote this far out. Maybe try aiming for late 2010 instead?
