I don't know, I think Jason is alright. I dig his action flicks—not that I follow him religiously or anything, but he’s got a decent face, which makes the movies slightly more tolerable than watching Steven Seagal. But this? I haven't seen it yet, but maybe I'll check it out once it hits streaming. Still, I don't get why he needs this...

Setting aside Fast and Intense—which were basically just side quests anyway—this is hands down his biggest win as a lead. We're talking half a billion and counting at the box office. Honestly? This was the smartest move he could've made for his career. And since there are at least five novels featuring that character out there, I wouldn't be shocked if they start cooking up a sequel already.

As for the movie itself—it's a total summer flick. Some action, some light thrills, decent effects. The cool thing is they didn't try to force some mutated monster trope like they did in Jurassic Park. It’ll probably fade from your mind in about a week, but that's a whole different conversation...

Just finished watching it. It’s not totally unbearable if you stick it out until the end... but yeah, it's pretty bad. I seriously need to go watch Deep Blue Sea ASAP just to remind myself what actual high-quality shark entertainment feels like.

Look, as someone who actually enjoys his movies, I'm not exactly thrilled seeing him in a flick like this, but hey, I get it—you gotta make that money when the opportunity hits, so let the man get paid!

I mean, yeah, I totally agree, but just wait until the sequel drops; I bet you anything there'll be some kind of mutated beast involved.

Is this some kind of contest now—who can film the biggest pile of GARBAGE? This latest monster flick was just mind-numbingly boring... honestly, it’s become a total epidemic lately.

Man, you hit the nail on the head. That’s exactly what it feels like.

It’s like they think the average person watching doesn't have any taste, so why bother putting in any effort? But honestly, if they just put in even a tiny bit of work—like, maybe just 10% or 15% more heart—these movies could actually be decent and something you'd actually enjoy watching instead of just zoning out.

I’m sick of every single movie feeling like a desperate attempt to prove how much Chinese money has bought up Hollywood. 🙄
Just another title in a long line of films doing the exact same thing.
Hollywood is circling the drain. 1... 2... 3... 👎

I wasn't expecting too much—actually, maybe I was, since the movie wasn't exactly my cup of tea 🤷
I'm not necessarily hunting for perfect logic, but some parts truly made zero sense... there were good moments, but still

I have to admit, The Meg actually caught me off guard in the best way possible. Even with all the absurdity of the plot, they managed to pull it off in a relatively grounded and genuinely entertaining manner. I was fully prepared to hate it, but honestly, it turned out to be a decent watch. 6/10

I'm right there with you. Jason actually delivers a solid performance without being overly theatrical, which bumps my rating up to a 7/10.

This movie was just so incredible...honestly, even four months later...I still can't get enough of it. I find myself closing my eyes...just trying to replay it in my head...but it's impossible to capture that feeling again

To be completely honest, I only sat through this movie because of one woman in the cast. As far as the actual plot goes, I couldn't care less about the film itself.😬

🙂 This might be a massive overstatement on my part, but that kicking scene really reminded me of those ridiculous scenes where they kick flying piranhas out of some Asylum production.

Judging by the trailer alone, Meg 2 looks like it’s going to be way better than the first Meg.

The first movie was a fun action flick featuring a massive sea creature. It’s just the right kind of thing to kill some time with a couple of beers. There's a terrifying beast, some solid special effects, a very thin plot—if you can even call it that—and characters that aren't too annoying. Based on the trailer, the sequel follows the same formula, just with more monsters. I guess I just really enjoy movies set underwater. I'll probably check this one out, and maybe it could actually do pretty well at the box office.

I find it somewhat difficult to believe they’re actually greenlighting a sequel. I suppose if they are going to go through with it, they might as well lean into the absurdity and just go full-blown camp—you know, create one of those over-the-top, ridiculous trash movies that boasts incredible visual effects despite having absolutely no substance. It seems to me that, perhaps, that's the only way it could actually be entertaining.

Well, the trailer certainly seems to be heading in that direction.

That megalodon hitting a wooden pier and then getting kicked in the head... how much more over-the-top can they make this? 😁

Caught this on TV a while back. The first movie definitely goes overboard with the drama, but it was actually a fun watch. Honestly, I didn't find any of the characters particularly grating.

I haven't seen the teaser or the trailer... but without any exaggeration... he should have grabbed it instead of kicking it in the head, maybe a kick to the groin... that would definitely have bumped the rating above a 7...
