Everything you need for a Midwest wedding

Stopped by a small town in the Midwest yesterday to get some rings picked out. $667 The lady there was incredibly nice—service was smooth—and they'll have them ready in about 3 to 7 days. We’re more than happy with the result.

Anyone here dealt with the wedding meat platters for Peter and Anna's big day in Indianapolis?
Also wondering about their catering quality...
And how are the portions? Are the platters actually decent or just stingy?

We booked Peter over in a Suburban town. We’ve had our sit-down, and honestly, I've heard nothing but good things about their catering—plus, people say the food at the venue itself is top-tier (my parents' friends used them for their son's wedding)...but a second opinion wouldn't hurt.🙂

We still need to head over there to finalize things. That's why I'm asking. We haven't picked an exact date yet, so I want to gather as much intel as possible. For us, the most important thing is finding a venue where the food actually hits the spot.

A buddy of mine was at Anna's place this past Saturday—it's a venue over in Indianapolis—and he told me, and I quote: PHENOMENAL! haha... honestly, I don't think you can go wrong there, much like us. 😉

So, I've got the hall and the band all sorted out—thank god—but I am hitting a massive wall trying to pick a photographer. I’m based right outside of Pittsburgh and there is NO WAY in hell I'm dropping 10k on photos, even if they are absolutely flawless! 🙄
I was looking at Smith from that small town nearby and Elijah from Savannah. Their work is gorgeous, and honestly, I feel like having a vision is the hard part—everything else just falls into place. 🙂 Also, video is huge for me, so does anyone have any actual experience with these guys and how their wedding footage turns out???
Oh, and any leads on a good florist who won't charge an arm and a leg?

The Diamond shop downtown—our rings in the States usually run us about 3,400— $1.25. But over there, the rings and the weight are identical, just 2, $133. Personally, I think it's a total steal. 😁

They are incredible—top-tier service, amazing food, and easily the best prices around.
They even renovated the hall; it's not that tacky orange color anymore, it looks way better now! 😍

Does anyone know where I can pick up some cheap white tarp? Just looking for something basic—nothing fancy, just enough to keep the water out. We’ve checked everywhere, but it’s either nothing in white or they only carry those massive truck tarps, which are way too expensive since I need over 600 square feet. I don't need a tent—already got one for the lawn—I just need a plain white sheet to cover the grapes. They're taking up half the concrete driveway, and we can't shove a tent under them because the vines grow at an angle. 🙂

Some friends of ours were over recently and they told us the smell is just awful. Apparently, there's some kind of farm that opened up nearby and the scent is hitting hard. When we were out in the yard, we noticed a little bit of it, but I honestly figured that was just part of life out in the country, you know? But they’re insisting that once you turn on the AC, it sucks everything right inside the house and makes it unbearable. Is that even possible? 😢Do you know anything about this?

Has anyone checked in on the situation over at that small town? I was wondering if anyone’s been hanging around the halls there lately. What’s the vibe like right now?

Honestly, people will find a way to complain about literally anything—even a marble. 😁
I don't know, I went to the hall three different times while we were planning everything and never smelled a thing—not even at any weddings I've been to before. I even asked him if it's possible for the AC to pull odors inside, and he swore up and down that it doesn't happen. As for the people complaining while standing outside? If it actually smells, I'll just buy them some car air fresheners and tell them to deal with it—I really couldn't care less. 😁

From what I gather, in that Small town, the rule is basically bring your own catering, the capacity is around 380 people max (that's what they told us anyway), and they use round tables. That's about all the info I have.

I’m looking for a solid stationery shop or a good bookstore around the Indianapolis area—ideally somewhere that carries a wide variety of paper. I need options when it comes to different colors, weights, and maybe even some textured or embossed styles.
I happen to be heading toward Indy tomorrow, so I figured I might as well swing by and see what’s available for my craft projects...

I'm also open to suggestions for Facebook groups if you know of any. I already checked out Zebra, that bookstore downtown, but I was wondering if there's anything else worth visiting?

Well... I have nothing but good things to say about Peter's place in that Suburban town, mostly because I actually held my own wedding reception there back in May. The food was fantastic, and the platters were well-stocked, though honestly, the only people who might leave hungry are the ones too shy to ask for more. You should definitely tell your guests to speak up if they want seconds; the servers are wonderful about topping everything off without a second thought. 🙂 In fact, there was so much left over we could have easily fed another fifty people, and trust me, nobody went home with an empty stomach! 😁 😁

Personally, I find it a bit silly—even a little tacky—that guests are expected to essentially "beg" for more food just to ensure they aren't starving.
In my book, it should be standard practice for the staff to monitor the platters and replenish them continuously throughout the dinner service. At the very least, I wouldn't feel particularly comfortable having to flag down a waiter to ask for more food—though, of course, that’s just my own take. 😁 Generally speaking, I've heard whispers that people end up leaving those halls hungry, though I haven't attended a wedding there myself, so I can't speak to that from first-hand experience.
From what I *can* say from personal experience, we weren't happy with a New Year's Eve party we attended at one of those venues; even if it isn't quite the same thing as a wedding, it was enough for me to cross them off my list for any future celebrations.
