Also, do you ever do house calls, or do I need to come to you? And just out of curiosity, what kind of brands do you typically use when you're working your magic? Thanks a million! =)

Hi there!

I just sent you a private message. If anything else comes to mind, please don't hesitate to ask.

Best regards, 🙂

If I were the photographer, I wouldn't give you anything for $1200 pennies, because honestly, it's not easy money and you're stuck with the consequences for life... peace

I honestly don't get why you're even bothering to argue with people, trying to convince them that "certain" photographers are "PROFESSIONAL AND TOP-TIER" when those people had the exact opposite experience with them... It's their opinion and they have every right to say it...

I think we've had enough "PROFESSIONAL AND TOP-TIER" advertising for one day, and I'm pretty sure those "top-tier" photographers don't want this kind of publicity at any price.

So, what, you’re suddenly an expert on the industry now? Is that why you're lecturing us about "not talking about things we don't know"?

I spent two years working in that field. You aren't really in a position to lecture me, and trust me, I'm not looking to correct you either...

casualbison8 said:Look, I’ve been following this forum for a very long time, but I rarely post because I never want it to seem like I'm just self-promoting. But honestly, I can't stay quiet right now... WHAT DO YOU MEAN $50,000?!?!? Someone who owns $50,000 worth of photography gear simply cannot afford to do photo and video services for $1.25. They just can't! Period.
I work in this industry, which is why I’m speaking up, and I stand firmly behind everything I'm saying. My overhead is massive once you factor in materials and staff, not even touching on taxes and equipment depreciation. Besides, it's not like the newlyweds dictated a price of $1.25; they set their own rates themselves. It's hardly fair to complain that they aren't providing enough value for the price the clients agreed to pay. They chose the rate... And let's not forget, you get what you pay for. A girl—who actually booked this specific studio—even mentioned that herself. I respect that some people don't care about high-end photos and want to save money, but expecting premium or even just very good service for those prices is pure science fiction! That's all there is to it....

Go ahead and do a little research on what it costs to buy a high-end setup ranging from $40k to $90k, and that's not even touching the other expenses

Henry Ortiz18 said:Here I am again... and once more, I find myself needing a little insight from any ladies or gentlemen on this forum 🙂 located near the University of California area. Has anyone ever heard of that photo studio, >? Specifically, does anyone know what their workflow is like? I was digging through some old thank-you notes recently and stumbled upon one of their advertisements; I distinctly remember a bride mentioning how thrilled she was with her wedding photos. As it happens, they shot my five-year high school reunion, and the pictures are actually fantastic—the photographer was such a sweetheart, too. So, I suppose I’m just curious: has anyone here actually worked with them? Thanks!
Grateful for any info you can share 🙂

I wouldn't touch them with a ten-foot pole, honestly. He spent ten years working under the table and stealing business from people actually paying their taxes, and when the feds finally came knocking, he just registered as a videographer because technically he isn't licensed for photography... zero style, too, unless you count him hijacking shots from Studio 69 once a year and passing them off as his own work to everyone else. Just my two cents, though... worked in the industry for two years myself...

Honestly, what is with all these arguments?
People shouldn't be fighting over things like taste
You guys are just creating unnecessary tension here
This was a great topic, so let's try to keep it that way

Oh wow, we’re already throwing insults? If you think anyone here is some kind of uneducated hillbilly, then look in the mirror, because you clearly can't even read.
Look, I’m not even gonna stoop to your level. I was trying to be polite and point out that calling your little pitch "top-tier and professional" is a massive stretch, but apparently, you have to pick a fight with every single woman on this forum. In your world, you’re the only one who’s "pro" and the rest of us are just "unprofessional" amateurs, right? Typical.

..... honestly, I'm starting to love these two words, don't hate me! 🙂))

Hey there, everyone from the Midwest! I’m new here, so just figured I’d jump in and join the conversation... I see we're talking about photographers, and since I'm actually hunting for one right now, I was wondering if anyone has worked with that "shady" photographer out of Indianapolis? I'd love to hear any feedback—good or bad. Also, quick question about the band unknown that we've been looking at booking; I haven't actually heard them play a wedding before, so if anyone has any intel on them, let me know! Thanks in advance 🙂

I’ve been working in this industry for 11 years now, so I don't really feel the need to go out and price check professional printing equipment. Are you honestly suggesting that someone could just grab a $1,000 DSLR, snap some shots of their relatives, run them through a $45,000 printer, and somehow walk away with world-class photography? It just doesn't work that way. Especially if you lack the talent and the artistic eye to back it up.
Besides, I really feel like getting dragged into an argument at this level is just a complete waste of time....

Even though I wasn't the one being addressed, I have to say something.👎
This is appalling.
You don't know how to make an actual argument without resorting to insults.

And yeah, define "professional" and "top-tier" for me. I’d love to see what your standards actually look like.

casualbison8 Asks:
I’ve been in this business for 11 years, so I don't need to sit here and ask what a photo printer costs. Are you seriously telling me you can shoot weddings with a $1,000 camera, run them through a $40,000 printer, and walk away with "world-class" photos? Yeah, you won't. Especially if you don't have the talent or the eye to back it up.
Honestly, I think getting dragged into this debate and sinking to this level is just a complete waste of time.

I agree. Does anyone honestly believe that just having a camera—and the machine used to process the shots, obviously—is enough to make someone's work "top-tier"? That’s a term I see thrown around here way too often. 🤷

casualbison8, just show those shots to them so they can finally learn what "top-tier" and "professional" actually look like! 👍

Aurora, thank you so much for the compliment, but I honestly didn't come on here just to promote myself... I simply couldn't help myself. I only signed up because I wanted to take full responsibility for what I said... Thanks again...

I’ve seen them play a few times, at weddings and stuff, and they were great. They're young, too... definitely know how to get a crowd moving.

Hey!
I can't tell you anything about photographer Sunny because I'm not from Toledo and don't know them, but I can comment a bit on Victor... 🙂 They are playing at my wedding too. They played for my cousin, and they seemed totally fine to me. I don't know about their backing musicians since she had someone else, but I think they'll be good. Overall, their repertoire seemed solid, and I've heard they don't play much country music.
Honestly, if these guys have been playing for years, they probably know what they're doing and we'll all end up happy. At least, I hope so.. 😉

Are you talking about Sunny, or do you mean Focus (Sunjo)?
To be honest, I haven't been in Toledo for quite a while, so I haven't really seen their work firsthand—though they do have a website, even if it isn't exactly top-tier
I don't even think they're overpriced; honestly, they're pretty great. I actually worked with them a few years back—both the husband and wife are super nice people, and I was genuinely happy with how things turned out.
I don't know how much the specific style of the photos matters to you 😕 but if I were you, I'd go check out both Sunny and that other guy, Focus.
