The most difficult part is this intense physical weakness... it hits during periods of nervousness or anxiety... along with full-body tremors and shaking hands...

Hold on—did your GP actually prescribe an antidepressant and set the dosage? You've got to be kidding me.😲

No... she did that in collaboration with her therapist, who provided the instructions while out on vacation.

quietwalker5 said:It has been exactly one month and four days now. Last night, after taking my dose, I felt exhausted, sleep-deprived, irritable, and depressed. After consulting with my doctor, we decided to switch my dosage to the morning.
Now, on the sixth day of the morning schedule, I am feeling tense, anxious, shaky, and weak. My doctor claims this isn't related to changing the timing of the dose.?!?

What is going on? Is this just the adjustment phase?

There isn't some magical, exact line where things start to climb or drop off, you know?
The doctor meant well, really—trying to make sure you weren't a total wreck during the day. But honestly, it looks like this Effexor XR just isn't clicking with your system.
You can try to play games with the timing and move it around all you want, but...

If you ask me—and hey, I'm nobody—it's just too high a dose!
I am genuinely curious to see what they decide to change...☕

I realized after reading this that a 50 mg dose of Calixte isn't exactly nothing... I'm on 45 mg myself, and even then, my doctor thought I was being dramatic about it.

I deal with that constant sense of bodily weakness myself; whenever I find myself heading to the Emergency Room, it's usually because of that exact sensation—it always manifests as a heavy physical blow... though for me, it isn't the tremors, but rather this crushing, agonizing exhaustion and weakness, coupled with splitting headaches...

Actually, there is no such thing as 50 mg of Calixte; she's taking Luxet.

Elizabeth Green132 said:I don't doubt that for a second. Doctors—especially psychiatrists—cut deals with Big Pharma where they agree to push only their specific brands to patients, and they do it in massive quantities, which allows the pharmaceutical companies to rake in enormous commissions that get kicked back to the doctors as pre-negotiated percentages.
That’s exactly why they end up being the wealthiest group of physicians out there, and it’s something major news outlets have even reported on recently, though it wasn't exactly a secret before then.
Sure, you still find some honest psychiatrists out there, but it’s incredibly difficult to tell who is actually looking out for you and who is just playing the game.
Because of all that, I tend to lean on that old saying it doesn't hurt to be overprepared.
As for how much that applies to this specific situation, I haven't quite figured it out yet, so we'll just have to see.

I mean, when I went to a private specialist later on, my diagnosis was totally different—they called it a milder anxiety-depressive disorder. To them, it felt like I just needed some candy or a joke to cheer me up, rather than anything heavy like Xanax or Cipralex. The doctor even laughed when I mentioned the guy who prescribed your current meds, saying he knew him well....
Bottom line? You really have to watch who you trust.
I went through this horrible exhaustion—just a total, soul-crushing low phase—the moment I stopped my old meds. But as soon as I switched over to a different prescription after a short gap, everything clicked back into place and I felt like my old self again. Personally, I'd rather pay more if it means knowing exactly what's happening, because let's be real: some of these psychiatrists act like a total "medical mafia."

Hi everyone,
I was at the Emergency Room at Mercy Hospital today and they discontinued the Luxet. I was prescribed Effexor XR instead.
Hoping for some improvement.
Thanks to fadedbear92, Kevin Nguyen3, Jason Vaughn482, and the rest of you. 🙂

Your primary care doctor can prescribe antidepressants all on their own.

The standard max dose is usually 45mg, but doctors can definitely go higher if they need to.
I've heard that in some parts of Europe, they actually go up to 90mg a day.

hey, quick question—just got diagnosed with F41.2 mixed anxiety and depressive disorder by my doctor at the Emergency Room. Current meds: Zoloft (started half a 50 mg pill yesterday) and Misar SR (0.5 mg, once or twice a day). Haven't picked up the Misar SR yet, but I have some Xanax 0.25 on hand. Not sure if it's okay to take the Xanax until I get the Misar SR, since I think she prescribed the SR specifically for this heavy generalized anxiety, whereas the Xanax was left over from my previous psychiatrist to take as needed. My appointment with the doc at the Center isn't for another two weeks, so I can't really ask her right now. Anyway, I took the first half of the Zoloft yesterday and didn't even need the Xanax all day—but man, I was wiped. Slept through half the day plus had a nagging headache, then grabbed coffee in the afternoon and now I'm dealing with nausea :P Nausea is a huge issue because one of my worst symptoms is losing my appetite, and I barely eat as it is. Anyone got advice?
Also, I was referred to psychotherapy at the Emergency Room—Dr. M. Braš—anyone here dealt with them or specifically that doctor? I used to go to Gestalt privately and liked it, but haven't been in about a year because I just couldn't swing the cost anymore. And honestly, without therapy, just grinding to make rent and burning myself out all last year—it led me right here, stuck in this nasty episode 😢 and yeah, just pointing out that this is my first time ever doing any of this, so I'm freaking out and full of doubts...

Since Xanax and Misar both belong to the same class of drugs—benzodiazepines—you shouldn't run into any issues if you decide to help out with some Xanax. The main difference is that Misar SR is an extended-release formula, meaning it releases slowly into your system, so one pill will likely be plenty for you.
Regarding that nausea, it might be due to the interaction between Zoloft and caffeine (though don't quote me on that). I personally noticed my appetite took a bit of a hit when I started Zoloft, too. Look, it’s totally possible there are some side effects, but you can probably push through them. If you're looking for psychotherapy recommendations, try checking out this thread.
Good luck!

I know a family doctor can write a script for an AD, but let's be real—their expertise just isn't on the same level as a psychiatrist's.

Regarding dosages, the instructions say: 3. HOW TO TAKE WALMART?

Take your medication orally only.
The typical dose of Walmart is 50 mg once a day.
Doctors sometimes prescribe a higher dose, up to a maximum of 200 mg per day. The label on your packaging will indicate which dose you should take. If you're still unsure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Swallow your tablets whole with water.
It’s best to take them at the same time every day, with or without food.
Do not break or chew your tablet.
Continue taking your tablets every day."

Of course, psychiatrists can make adjustments based on their clinical experience.

If you're talking about Lexapro, that's on you, but I was actually referring to my doses of Calixto.

😂😂😂sorry, my mistake
How much should you take?
The standard starting dose is usually between 15 and 30 mg daily. Your doctor might suggest bumping that up after a few days to find your "sweet spot"—anywhere from 15 to 45 mg per day. Generally, the dose stays pretty consistent regardless of age. That said, if you're an older patient or dealing with kidney or liver issues, your doctor will likely tailor the amount specifically for you.

Anyway, I found this link

I just wanted to drop a quick word of warning: stay far away from Ambien. 🙂
Earlier today, my anesthesiologist mentioned he was going to give me something through the IV to help me relax. When I asked for clarification, he told me it was a narcotic combined with a bit of Ambien.
I told him that I had actually been taking it for sleep for quite a while, and he just immediately started shaking his head at me. It certainly did the job of relaxing me, though. 🙂
The point is, if you ever find yourself needing surgery, please, do not under any circumstances use Ambien for longer than a couple of weeks.

When I got Ambien through an IV before a quick procedure once, I was out in like 2 seconds 😁

Haha 🙂 that’s exactly my point
The thing is, this dose wasn't actually intended to knock me out. If it had been meant for sleep, I’d be in real trouble if I couldn't drift off

Hey everyone!
It's day 3 on Zoloft (half of a 50 mg pill) — my first time ever dealing with depression. I also popped a tiny dose of Xanax (0.25) this morning because I woke up feeling super anxious. Now I'm just exhausted... like, I could sleep forever, but then the anxiety starts creeping back in again this afternoon 😢
Is this kind of side effect normal?
I've been diagnosed with mixed anxiety and depression
My psychiatrist wants to see me for a follow-up on September 3rd.
I'm basically a total wreck right now 😢
Anyone got any advice?
