Once I finally do succumb to sleep, I can usually manage a solid 8 or 9 hours straight, but the initial descent into slumber is a grueling battle; sometimes it happens instantly, but other nights I’m just tossing and turning for two hours waiting for the lights to go out.

Honestly, both I and the Sanval have decided it's time for a long, long break. It’s getting ridiculous because I can take up to ten or fifteen 10 mg pills and still end up waking up after only three hours. I'm heading to my check-up tomorrow morning to get my Quetiapine prescription sorted out for free, so I guess I'll just ride it out until my body finally weans itself off the Sanval...

You can take Ibuprofen, Voltaren, or even Ketorolac, but I wouldn't recommend using opioid painkillers that contain tramadol.

Well done, 🙂
I seem to have forgotten—which clinic are you seeing for your treatment?

When you take amyzol at night, how do you actually feel the next morning?

I used to take it almost 10 years ago, but only when things got bad. I remember sleeping way too much and eating constantly whenever I was on it... plus that general brain fog.
But whatever. What I really want to know is: what’s it like waking up? How do you feel in the morning after taking amyzol?

Benjamin Robinson3 said:It’s honestly surreal reading about people actually getting sleep from Calixta, especially at such low doses like 7.5 mg.
I was on 45 mg for four months, and the only time it actually helped me drift off was during those first two or three weeks; after that, it did absolutely nothing.

Calixta is a very specific type of antidepressant.
At low doses—anything under 15 mg—it hits the histamine receptors exclusively, which is what knocks you out. Basically, the lower the dose, the stronger the sedative effect.

It was originally developed as an antihistamine, but then they realized that at higher doses, it also messes with serotonin and norepinephrine. Since the antidepressant market is way more profitable, they pivoted, but people still use it off-label for insomnia all the time.

So, it makes sense why 45 mg wasn't working for you; at that level, the impact on histamine is pretty much neutralized by the serotonin and norepinephrine stuff.

I’ve been taking 1/6 of a tablet for about three months now—roughly 2.5 mg—and I sleep like a log. The only catch is Calixta demands its minimum of 7.5 hours of shut-eye; if I get any less than that, I’m a total wreck and a zombie the next day.😉

But hey, whatever works. I haven't slept this well in my entire life over the last three months.😍

I can weigh in here too.
I take 4x10mg at night. Waking up is just as much of a struggle as it was before the pills, and the morning vibe feels pretty normal. Not sure how else to put it 😁
honestly—it's the same as any other AD I've tried before. I don't really notice a difference (at least when it comes to being sleepy).

If I just take one as prescribed, everything is fine—totally normal, it doesn't even really knock me out... but back when I was taking more of them, it would put me right to sleep and I'd sleep soundly, feeling okay in the morning.

I had my follow-up appointment this morning, and she actually switched me off the Amyzol and started me on 100mg of Quetiapine at night instead. She asked me the same thing, how I felt in the morning from that dose, and honestly, it's fine; the main thing is that I'm getting sleep.
We even went with a "placeholder" diagnosis to make sure I could get the Quetiapine... She scaled back my anxiolytics, but I don't really need them once the Zoloft and Q kick in anyway... so everything seems to be working out great now...

So, I started taking this Zoloft... weird ad, but here we are. I take it in the morning and things seem fine for a while, but by the evening? The side effects hit—hard. It’s disgusting. Zero sleep... and the headaches are absolutely killing me... which is why I've been popping Advil just to cope. Just a heads up, I'm only on day three at the 0.25 dose... What am I in for? Honestly, I'm terrified.

Wait, did you actually say ten to fifteen pills? 😲 Are you kidding me? Please, for heaven's sake, don't do that. 🤦

Must be nice to be able to sleep like a rock on just 2.5 mg... it just goes to show how much our chemistry varies; some people can't catch a wink even on 10 mg. For instance, I personally require 1 Sanval combined with 7.5 mg of Calista just to function, yet here you are sleeping soundly on a mere 2.5 mg.

Yeah, I definitely lucked out finding a therapy regimen that actually sticks. 😉

I’m also on Prozac, which is an SSRI that happens to have some sedative properties. When you stack that on top of the sedation from Calista, it’s basically the perfect sleep combo. 😍

Don't worry, I didn't experience any actual side effects... it’s just that eventually, taking one, two, three, or even four pills isn't enough to actually knock you out. It basically just puts you into this sort of trance state. Then, I'll wake up only to realize I've taken ten of them; I suppose my subconscious was just desperately screaming for sleep while I was hallucinating from exhaustion, so I kept swallowing them until I finally passed out—though even then, it rarely worked. There were times, maybe once in a blue moon, when I actually managed to get some sleep... but those were rare exceptions.
That is exactly why I have decided to take a break from everything my body has become accustomed to...

I suppose I’m hoping I won't end up becoming dependent on Seroquel... does anyone here have actual experience with this? Is it truly as safe as I’m telling myself it is, or am I just being naive for having taken less than two pills?

my therapist told me you can't actually get "addicted" to antipsychotics—I can't quite remember her specific reasoning, so I'll have to ask her again.http://www.pic4ever.com/images/interview.gif

My therapist gave me the exact same line.

Sure, you can taper off slowly, but that withdrawal period might only last a few days. Honestly, it's nothing compared to the absolute hell you go through when someone suddenly cuts you off from, say, 6 mg of Clonazepam.

She didn't actually explain anything to you—she just started rambling some vague nonsense to dodge the point and leave everything up in the air.

I'm hardly a reliable source for advice because I have absolutely no desire to touch antipsychotics... but as I've said before, never say never. If I ever reached the stage you're at, I'd probably cave, too, but I still wouldn't feel right about it if the condition for my stability was a complete lie.
