They essentially run through my entire medical history and remind me which chemical balances they can and cannot touch. Because of that, I truly believe there is immense value in sticking with one psychiatrist who deeply understands your unique neurochemistry. My doctor once explained it to me this way: if she were to adjust my norepinephrine levels, it might feel less like a stabilizer and more like I had just taken speed. While that might be fine for some people, it isn't for me. Generally speaking, I’d say anything that spikes dopamine and norepinephrine will lift someone out of a depressive state, but if your primary diagnosis is anxiety or panic disorders, I would advise staying far away from those types of stimulants.
You really need to provide a detailed breakdown of exactly what side effects you're experiencing with your pills and what kind of emotional state you're actually aiming for. There is a good chance half of your issues could be resolved through psychotherapy, but I am also convinced that an Ad can help with at least 50 percent of the struggle.
Can you tell me how you ended up feeling so poisoned by them? It sounds like you might have been prescribed a dose of Seroquel that was simply too heavy for you.

It wasn't necessarily too strong; I was on 100mg back then, and now I'm at 300mg. I simply hadn't slept at all for three days straight because I didn't have any medication on hand. Once I finally got my prescription, I kept taking it hoping to pass out, but I couldn't fall asleep at all—instead, I just ended up poisoning myself.

That sounds harrowing. It seems you were essentially dosing yourself blindly in a desperate attempt to find rest. I can certainly empathize with that level of exhaustion, but please, I beg you, do not let that happen again. If you find yourself in that state, it would be much safer to simply head to the ER the following morning.

I would gladly embrace both sides of that coin, provided I could finally get some peaceful, righteous sleep.😁

Is it actually possible for certain AD medications to completely drain your system? Lately, I've been feeling this persistent muscle fatigue and just a general sense of weakness throughout my body.

Which makes me a pretty saintly person, considering I didn't roll out of bed until 3 PM today.🤣.
Not sleeping at all is bad, but sleeping this much? Also bad. My whole day basically went down the drain.

As far as sleeping goes, it’s relatively okay; I take one or two Seroquel tablets and sleep normally until morning. Sometimes I wake up, but I can usually drift back off. I have a follow-up appointment on the 16th, and I think I'll ask my doctor to bump the dosage up to 400mg. If they switch me to the XR version, that would be great because it seems to help my mood quite a bit...
But honestly, this depression isn't just mild; I feel completely isolated and worthless, like my entire life has been ruined. No matter how hard I try, college just isn't working out—I didn't even get into the major I actually wanted, and now I'm seriously considering dropping out entirely. And if I do that, what am I supposed to do with my high school diploma😢? I should have been a senior by now, but I haven't even finished my freshman year... Plus, my other passion, horseback riding, is totally out of reach because of money, and I don't even have a place to go to practice. It feels absolutely terrible sometimes🤦, especially when I consider that I haven't had a boyfriend to support me for a whole year now...

Because of all of this, my parents have lost all faith in me. I'm not living in my apartment in Chicago anymore where I used to visit my grandma every single day; instead, my dad picked me up and drove me back to his place in some godforsaken rural town. They claim it's "until I calm down and get healthy"... and now I'm just sitting here, day after day, losing my mind.🕺

restlesstrucker15 said:I feel like a total zombie because of them, much like how I feel with Seroquel or Q-pin. My psychiatrist claims I'm just overly sensitive to these medications. When I take 7.5 mg of Calixta, I don't really start feeling like myself again until about 3 PM; with 12.5 mg of Seroquel, I'm out of the fog closer to 6 PM. Until then, I'm basically a shell of a person. Lower doses don't actually put me to sleep, they just leave me feeling hungover until noon.
And it isn't as if I'm taking some antidepressant that's supposed to be stimulating, like Lexapro.

Skickas FR

I actually slept until 11:00 this morning, which felt like a total impossibility. I took 10 mg of Cerson and 7.5 mg of Calixte... Calixte used to absolutely floor me in the past, but that isn't the case anymore; as long as I can get a strong cup of coffee in my system, I can manage to function. That is, provided I haven't spent the night tossing and turning until 3:00 AM—if I can actually drift off by 1:00 AM at the latest, that is...

shadowbear9 said:Well, in my experience, that isn't necessarily true. I've been treated by several different doctors, and I know for a fact that I've requested specific brands before. For instance, I asked for Ambien and received it. When I needed something for anxiety, they’d suggest Xanax, but I’d refuse because it tastes terrible and ask for Ativan instead. I’ve requested Mirataz, declined taking Prozac again, turned down Lexapro, and specifically mentioned that Amyzol worked best for me, which led to it being added back to my treatment plan. I even requested Quetiapine and eventually got it after a while. I suppose it might be possible to ask for a slightly stronger Ad by name, too, though I don't happen to know all the specific names off the top of my head...

I find myself in the exact same boat; I seem to get whatever medication I request. My therapist already understands my boundaries regarding certain drugs, so she doesn't even bother suggesting them anymore, yet when I ask for something new, she provides it without hesitation. I have to wonder, though—is Miller truly superior to Xanax, and is there any meaningful synergy between the two? Honestly, I feel as though I’ve earned a PhD in pharmacology at this point, and I don't just mean psychotropics. It’s a necessary precaution because these professionals rarely take the time to cross-reference your current prescriptions against things like blood pressure or blood sugar levels; they just hand over the script. Consequently, I’ve taken it upon myself to conduct my own exhaustive research into every interaction and contraindication...

It is the same for me. They offered me Mirtazapine or Seroquel several times, but I told them absolutely not because those drugs make me gain an abnormal amount of weight. They keep trying new things on me, but honestly, why should I? Even they don't seem to know which one will work best for me. At that point, who wants to gamble with their health? Eventually, I suppose I'll run out of options...

Well, Xanax equals Miller equals Ativan equals Alprazolam. It is all essentially the same medication; it just so happens that I find Ativan tastes bitter and I hate swallowing it, so I prefer taking Miller instead, even though both are listed on my medical record...
So, does anyone want to tell me which antidepressant is a bit stronger so I can try it? I have been through Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, now Effexor, Mirtazapine, and none of them have actually cured me...

Effexor?
It actually worked for me. (Though it might have been a bit much—I feel like I have a harder time falling asleep since I started taking it, but hey, everyone reacts differently.)

hmmm....I don't know, I really have to consider whether this is going to absolutely wreck my sleep schedule, or if it will actually play nice with the Seroquel... 🤔

Some people suggest Effexor, though I haven't personally ventured down that path yet.

So, I've been on Luxet for three weeks now. I'm feeling better... sort of... but my mind is still racing. One day I’m absolutely killing it—smiling, full of energy, totally carefree, zero intrusive thoughts. Then the next? Total washout. I spend the entire day spiraling about how bad things used to be, getting stuck in those "what if" loops, and the whole day is just wasted. Then, boom, another day where I feel super, no nonsense at all, followed by another low. It’s been cycling like this for a week. Is this kind of roller coaster normal when you're first starting out?

I had the exact same experience with Zoloft, which is essentially the same medication... though in my case, everything actually started getting worse later on...

I took some Xanax and two sleeping pills about two hours ago, but nothing has kicked in yet. I just found some Lexium 3mg, so I’m going to try that and see if it helps.

Anyone here been on Mirzaten for the long haul, like 2 years or more?
I started getting these brutal headaches about three months in. I read somewhere that taking Mirzaten can mess with your immune system, and honestly, I’ve been fighting this sinus infection for almost six months now. Just wondering if Mirzaten is actually the reason I can't shake these constant infections—the sore throats, fevers, headaches, all that junk.

Hmm... well, I was on it for about a year and a half. Everything was great at first—I was sleeping like a baby—until I started gaining weight and basically eating everything in sight. As far as the infections go, I don't really believe that part holds water... though, I guess you'd probably be more certain if you asked a doctor.

I’ve been taking it for three years, though I take frequent little breaks and don't actually stick to the prescribed 15mg dose.
Instead, I only take half of that, strictly to help with sleep. My head often aches, but that’s been an issue since way before I started this, mostly because my cervical spine is absolutely shot, but I haven't dealt with any infections. I haven't even gained much weight—maybe just five or six pounds—and I never felt terrible from it, not even at the beginning, aside from that heavy "hangover" feeling in the morning. My only real anxiety is that since it's a newer antidepressant, it might not be fully studied yet; I’d hate to get settled in only to realize I have to toss the whole thing out just to get a decent night's sleep. If it’s causing those specific symptoms for you, you really ought to tell your doctor to pull you off it. How long have you been on it, and what dosage are we talking about?
