Ethne said:Just a quick correction. 😁 All my old handles are deactivated, and I can't reactivate them without asking an admin. 😉 Besides, I don't play by the rules Joseph Davis5 is suggesting—I’m always the same person; I just swap nicknames and avatars like I swap out clothes or makeup. 😎
I see where Joseph Davis5 is coming from, and it could be fun, but I think we’d all recognize each other pretty quickly because of our writing styles. It’s not that easy to pull off a deception when you're constantly dropping bits of info that reveal who you really are, whether you mean to or not.😉

It’s the same game, really. 😁 For me, the real fun would be actually getting into character and acting like whoever's handle I've taken over. But how are we even going to coordinate this so everyone gets their own handle back?

That’s the point—there’s no guarantee you'll get your original persona back, even if you want to.
Everyone picks a private code to verify who they are once the game wraps up.
Those codes are held by one or two designated coordinators (who don't necessarily participate in the play). You just DM them your chosen code along with your handle (not your actual password!).
After seven days, if you end up with a handle controlled by a coordinator, they confirm your identity. If someone hijacks your handle, you pick a new one, and the coordinator can verify you as, say, the former Rebecca Torres76. 😉

Exactly. Just fully inhabit the character's profile... iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii 🤣 🙂 😂

I honestly don't see how anyone could hijack a username. If you just go into the password recovery settings and enter the email address used during registration, they'll send you a link to reset your current password and set a new one. It’s pretty straightforward. 😁

So, really, you'd practically have to hand over your email along with your username for the game to be fully compromised. 😛

I can't really participate in these games. Translating every single sentence into American English feels like too much work, and I know I’ll eventually slip up or forget the right idiom, which would give me away immediately. 😉 Plus, some of the rules seem a bit too complicated for my taste. 😁 I'm just not a fan of games that require constant, heavy thinking. 🤣

Looks like balkijanstvo got to you. 😲 😁
We didn't even plan on this happening. 😘 🙂 Even Parsi would find it tricky. 😁 But count me in!

No, that's not right. All you need is the password; once you have it, you can change the email and everything else.😎

Joseph Davis5 said:Nah, you don't need anything else. Just your password—you can use that to swap out your email or tweak your other settings.😎>

That’s true enough...

But keep in mind, if you ever lose your password, you can just request a reset via the email address you used when you signed up. So, even if someone manages to change your info, you can pretty easily cancel it and get back in.

I'm just not 100% sure if updating your email in your profile settings changes that recovery address, or if it stays stuck as whatever you used during registration.🤔

I'm not entirely sure if that email updates when you change the one in your profile settings, or if it stays locked to whatever was used at sign-up. 🤔

That works too. Try this: register under the username Joseph Davis5 with the password 4largo. Then, change the email to one of yours—mine is 4largo@graffiti.net—open that inbox, and confirm the change. Once the "hijack" is successful, just switch everything back.
😍 Just so I can mess around with it for a bit longer.😬

Sure, you can, but the email address isn't visible on the public profile. If someone gets hold of the password, they can just swap out the email and the password themselves—it's an easy way to hijack a username.

Could be Joseph Davis5, could be anyone.

Got it. Now I'm just sitting here wondering why on earth anyone would even bother going through all that trouble? 🙂😬 😁

It might be Joseph Davis5, or maybe it isn't.

Exactly, Joseph Davis5. The possibilities are endless if you have enough imagination.

You can always just say Joseph Davis5 is to blame.🙄 It doesn't affect me. Though, to be fair, you never really did have much of a backbone.🤣

I don't live on this site, but sometimes I lose sleep because of it 🤣

Look, if we're saying this place encourages laziness, this much effort is actually overkill considering there isn't even a reward at the end of it 😁

Joseph Davis5 said:Look, I’m worried this is an entirely different ballgame, and frankly, I don't know if you guys are ready for it.
Imagine if Joseph Davis isn't Joseph Davis, if the others aren't themselves, and if John isn't John. (Or maybe they are.)
Are you prepared to abandon your own identities for seven days? There is no guarantee you’ll emerge from this unchanged on Reddit. Of course, we're talking about this platform, not real life. Are you willing to read a post by someone unknown and wonder if it's actually them? Can you walk into a single thread and renounce everything you’ve written in the previous thousand posts, clinging to the hope that after a week, things can just go back to normal? Is there any trust left between us? I’ll be playing along—I've already stripped my avatar—but we need at least five participants. If you're in, send me your sign-ups. We start this week.

What a load of nonsense.

I was thinking about actual life... these little social experiments are far too transparent. You need to take this to the real world, facing yourself alone.🙂

I’d like to give our interested readers a heads-up that Ryan Wilson2 and placidharbor7 have already traded a few opening shots regarding the low standards at the IMF...

Also, just a gentle reminder of what happened here recently, where both gentlemen ended up leaving the audience hanging without clear answers or any real shift in their positions.

So, I’m calling on them to keep this match going right here 🙂

=====

Now, Ryan Wilson2, let's not get ahead of ourselves quite so fast...

As the moderator, coordinator, and referee of this match—which I know the audience is following with bated breath—I wouldn't be quite so quick to pass judgment.

It seems to me that placidharbor7's little remark wasn't intended as an insult, especially since it was accompanied by a goofy smiley face 😬 which suggests there was no real malice behind it.

I am calling on Ryan Wilson2, in the interest of tennis, the fans, the supporters, 🙂 and indeed the younger generations, to continue this match. As for placidharbor7, I’d advise him to watch his tongue; much like someone from Meklenburg might find out, he could eventually face financial penalties or, in the worst-case scenario, lose the match entirely.
***

Therefore, I’m calling upon both Ryan Wilson2 and placidharbor7 ...to return to the tennis court of this forum.

For instance, I would ask placidharbor7 to respond, in the interest of public clarity, to Ryan Wilson2's sharp return: Baphomet-BUILD your tower craftsmanship

Specifically, how does placidharbor7 view the issue of proselytizing or being overbearing when spreading spiritual teachings? Is he and his circle of students perhaps acting somewhat like "Master Jehovah's Witnesses"? 😁

Ryan Wilson2, please stay focused and present in this match. 😉
Because that is what the fans are waiting for most of all 🙂—they will certainly be disappointed if they don't see HIM and his heavy blow—pardon me, his racket—performing at full strength and in action. 😁
