Thanks so much! 😘 I’m going to call my niece right now—she lives just a few blocks away from there😉

Taylor, thanks so much for the heads-up about that freezing wind chill—I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on the forecast 😉

Oh, and they also have this sort of cheesecake-style cake there, so I think I might give it a shot to see if it lives up to the hype... honestly, I’ve always had a massive sweet tooth—whether it’s cheesecake or a good old-fashioned frozen dessert 🙂

We recently tried Kašnar, and they were actually pretty good—not life-changing, but definitely the best we’ve had so far. My only gripe is how they cut them; they're such small bites that it feels like you're just snacking rather than enjoying a real treat...

I’ve noticed people on here recommending Cookie House quite a bit. Has anyone actually ordered from them before?
What about srčeko?

Finding the right sweets is a big deal for me because my guests are total dessert fanatics...

The treats at Small House are absolute perfection!!!!!!!!!!!!
They did both the cake and the desserts for my wedding.
Kashner is fine, too, but I was at a wedding this past Saturday and finally got to try a huge variety. Honestly? They don't taste homemade to me—everything looks way too manicured. Every crust is the exact same thickness, exactly 2mm of cream, every cherry perfectly placed. They just don't have that homemade look.
But I can't deny they taste okay...
When I was picking stuff for my wedding, the most important thing was that it felt homemade and high quality. I didn't care much about the price—the difference is only a few dozen bucks—and I wasn't about to pay for desserts that look like they came out of a factory bag.

I've checked into it, and Kashner makes their pastries without any industrial additives or chemicals; I did quite a bit of digging before we decided to go with them!

What’s the minimum order weight? Also, is it possible to pick them up a few days early?🤷

Well, I'm honestly not sure when you'd be able to go grab those sweets. When we had our wedding, we actually went through the restaurant where the reception was held, and since they had a special arrangement on pricing with the bakery, it ended up costing us about $25 per pound.
But my guess is, if you decide to order directly from them, the price will probably jump up to $27!!!

Fair enough, thanks.

I've heard nothing but good things about them. Since I'm getting married outside of Chicago, I’d probably pick them up on a Thursday... they should stay fresh for at least two days, right?🤷

Wait, don't they offer delivery too?! Where exactly are you holding the wedding?

In California🙄 I still need to check out how their pastries are; I usually end up disappointed by them....

Translating isn't the issue here. I'm genuinely curious about how they hold up after two or three days... have you actually tried them?

down in the South and around Texas, the desserts 👎

and they won't even leave them out on the table for the whole evening 😲

honestly, I think everyone there might just faint when they see what a real, massive wedding spread looks like back in Chicago...🤣

How much cake are we actually talking about if I'm feeding a crowd of about a hundred?
And does anyone have any good bakery recommendations in San Diego?

We ended up having about 40 kg, and that includes all the extra portions we were handing out to guests at the house!!!
And there was still some left over!!!

That sounds absolutely insane—like, 40 pounds?! I mean, we don't really have a thing for sharing desserts over here... so honestly, I haven't even begun to wrap my head around how much we'd actually need..

In that case, you’d just have to tell the bakery exactly how many individual pastries you want!!!! But then again, it really depends on the crowd. I remember one wedding I went to with about 120 people where they basically polished off over 130 pounds of sweets... everyone there had a serious sweet tooth...😂😂😂
