$30/lb is pretty steep... I think Mesti charges that much... but look... before you decide which ones to get... maybe try both first... then make up your mind

$30 for cookies, it’s just insane. Seriously. My wife’s friend from her local baking club makes enough for $13 per batch, and we're talking over a pound. So... I mean, our ingredients are top-tier, but still... it’s $30 a lot...

Reading this, I honestly can't understand how she justifies charging $30/lb? 😕 Don't get me wrong, the cookies are delicious (I had some at a coworker's birthday party recently), but once I sit down and actually run the numbers, the math just doesn't add up. It feels excessive. I think I might give her a call this afternoon and just pass on it. Now comes the even harder part: trying to convince my mother that I'm making the right decision...

I feel like I’m losing my mind! I just called my mom to ask her for that woman's number, and she is flat-out refusing to get it for me! I already put my deposit down on this one—she’s vetted, she's reliable—and yet my mother won't stop calling me every single day to lecture me about how much I spent on her! It’s not like I’m living in Los Angeles or San Francisco where I have some huge crew or family nearby who could step in and help me out. I am honestly going to go crazy dealing with her...😈

So, we finally nailed down the cake situation yesterday—bottom layer is going to be chocolate and banana, the middle is black and white with some white chocolate mousse, and the top is a three-flavor parfait with chocolate, hazelnut, and vanilla🙂

Well, do you even know the lady's name? If so, just call the agency for info. Or, perhaps more effectively, tell your mom that this is *your* wedding and *your* budget—tell her to stop messing around and just hand over the number. 🙄

The problem is I don't have any information. My mother is currently in Chicago while I am out in St. Louis. She knows the woman's first name, but she can't recall the last name. Apparently, it is either a sister or perhaps one of her colleagues from work. Since I am currently at the office, I really cannot get into an argument with her right now; I don't want everyone here overhearing our business, so I am just waiting until I get home...

The rate for home work is actually quite high $30/kg 😲 I think they’ll bring in that much at Walmart. It’s not like you’re cheating anyone; honestly, she should have told you ahead of time how many kilos to expect, or maybe she thinks you'll get paid regardless of the weight. I know moms can be seriously exhausting 🙄, but it isn't being rude when you give her two months' notice before quitting.

I bet it doesn't cost nearly that much at Trader Joe's...

Hey everyone,
I'm looking for someone in the Miami area who makes beautiful, delicious fruit wedding cakes—nothing too heavy or overly layered with frosting. I've checked out a few local bakeries, but everything seems way too creamy and over-the-top for my taste. Does anyone have any solid recommendations?

Thanks so much!!!

So, my fiancé and I have officially started our hunt for everything we need for the big day. While checking off our unexpected first few errands, we stumbled upon this absolute gem of a bakery in Chicago. According to the owner, they only opened late last year, and from what I’ve gathered, nobody has really given them a shout-out online yet—which honestly feels like a crime. It's this cute little spot tucked into those new developments near Horvatski—Ivancica!!! Their treats are out of this world. Seriously, do yourself a favor and try the fruit cheesecake! That was the absolute highlight for me. We ended up sampling pretty much everything else on the menu, too, and let me tell you—you don't need a wedding invitation to justify eating here! (Okay, maybe we aren't trying to sound like total sweet-tooth addicts, but we just really love dessert!)

You could even DIY some little boxes for those leftover cake slices you give to guests. For anyone still counting down the days until the wedding and looking for a fun project, you can totally assemble and decorate these yourselves. Here’s a quick look at how they might turn out:

All you really need is some thin cardstock, which ends up being way cheaper than buying pre-made boxes. Honestly, once you start doing things yourself like this, you'll see how much you can actually shave off the total wedding budget.

This is an incredible page and a fantastic idea. I am definitely going to give this some serious thought. Thanks, 🙏 🙏 🙏

I don't want to clog up the feed with links, so just type origami into your search bar and look for boxes—there’s some seriously cool stuff there.

So, I think I stumbled upon a picture somewhere else on this sub of some crazy asymmetrical cake—you know, the kind where it’s technically round, but every single layer is just tilting off to a different side? It looked honestly pretty cool, and I was thinking maybe 😬 might actually be into a shape like that, though I guess I'm being a bit silly and not taking this too seriously, you know?
Does anyone happen to remember where that photo was? Because I (of course) can't seem to track it down anywhere now. 🙂

I actually had my heart set on a cake like that too, but honestly, it feels like nobody in my area does anything that avant-garde... such a shame!

She makes cakes like these. Truly remarkable. I remember seeing a similar spread at a gala in Chicago once—unforgettable, if a bit excessive. A little secret. Just one. Always ends badly. They had her on display at the trade show, but there isn't a single photo of her on the website. Typical.
