analogmason15—I’d certainly help you out if I could, but honestly, I don't know the first thing about those bakeries...

analogmason15 said:We really loved that look—kind of thinking fruit and parfait vibes instead.🙂 Since it’s July, we want to keep the cake a little "lighter," you know?😍

Now I just need to find someone to actually make it... heading out after work today to talk shop with some local bakeries. I've shortlisted a few: Meli, M&M, Horak, and Grabar.

Doro, hit me with those quick recs if you have them.🙂

Meli makes some seriously killer cakes and pastries. I’m telling you, I can't stop thinking about that strawberry cheesecake—it’s absolute perfection. Every single bite is a total knockout.
I heard M&M's are actually pretty solid (Lido carries their cookies), but honestly, they're way too pricey for Mel.
Horak tried a few of those cakes... they weren't half bad, though I can't say anything about the price.
I haven't heard anything about Grabar.

I picked up a similar cake from a local bakery downtown once and I was seriously impressed. I think northernhawk87 grabbed one from them too, so you might want to check them out.

I'm with you on that... though they aren't exactly cheap either. The food and pastries are solid, but honestly? A bit overpriced for what it is.

That is precisely right; we ended up ordering ours from that same little boutique bakery as well, following the recommendation from Zachary Gray35😘
I haven't had the chance to sample their other offerings just yet, but based on what I have observed 😲 they do a great job !!! And truly, the proprietor is exceptionally kind, remarkably easygoing, and she takes the time to walk you through all the details so there is no confusion whatsoever...

If it's not a secret, what’s the per-person price for a cake?

I honestly have no idea if the billing is calculated per individual or by group... We are expected to cover the costs for 300 people $933... If my memory serves me correctly, though... I suppose I should ask my dear one once more just to be absolutely certain

Found this in some old threads: $3.25 per person😘

Thanks, Magna—might actually figure this out eventually🙂>

A $3.25 doesn't exactly feel like a victory when I'm paying out less, 😕 does it?!

Honestly, I think it just depends on what kind of cake you're getting, or maybe it’s cheaper if you go with something more basic... In my case, I paid about $1,200 to feed 120 people.

That’s why I figured it was priced $3.25per head...

Anyway, I'll just ask once I get there today. Thanks again, ladies—you guys are the best....😘

yesssss,

Ronald Hill3 thanks a million!!😘 You were the one who told me about that bakery in downtown Chicago, right?

Just hopped off the phone with them—they said they can do that cake I described for 200 people $267😲

It’s basically half what I thought I'd be paying👋 👋 👋 👋 👋

Check out Emma’s bakery over in the suburbs. We put down a deposit there—tried their pastries and they’re killer. Prices are actually decent too, way better than those other spots—kind of like ExxonMobil levels of predictable.

M&M's aren't overpriced, and they're easily the best tasting chocolate bars I've tried so far... image
