One would assume that if someone were actually attempting to steal, they would drain as much as possible in a single go, rather than casually returning four days later to repeat the act. Besides, I cannot be expected to constantly monitor my Mastercard online, and my bank doesn't send SMS alerts for these types of charges—they simply provide a monthly statement once the damage is already done.

Major banks have entire departments full of people whose whole job is watching for sketchy activity, and they can totally freeze your card the second they see something weird. I mean, seeing a card get used way more often than usual could definitely be one of those red flags that triggers an automatic block.

I’d actually be pretty curious about that. Is it basically the same process as making a standard deposit?

Just head over to the bank—don't forget to bring your driver's license!
Fill out a deposit slip or a transfer authorization

Once you set up the wire transfer
and carefully enter both account numbers
just hand everything over to the friendly teller at the window
she’ll give you a quick smile and handle the whole thing for you 😉😉

And, naturally, you’ll need to be either the primary account holder or an authorized signer on the specific account you're withdrawing funds from

Ugh, thanks. Okay, I totally forgot to mention I was talking about doing this online. I really should have specified that from the jump. Honestly, the last thing I want to do is drag myself down to a Chase branch.

Then it’s even easier, I guess. Just put the same person down for both the sender and the receiver (yourself 🙂), use your checking account for the debit side, and your savings for the recipient. I just use Zelle and leave the memo field totally blank—kind of like how you do when sending money to anyone's personal account—and it always goes through fine without any issues.

But wait, I’m still stuck on the part about the phone number and that other detail. If I wasn't genuinely confused, I would have just gone ahead and done it already without bothering anyone. Actually, scratch that—I just realized you left the phone number field blank. And regarding the recipient's account number... are we talking about the routing number here?

Nah, I guess the number of recipients is just the current total, while the number of payers is the actual count of checking accounts.

I'm not sure if there's already a thread about this somewhere, but anyway... here goes nothing!

So, does anyone actually know if you get hit with a fee when you're just moving money from one account to another within the exact same bank? I mean, does it just depend on which bank you're using or what?
A few months back, I was transferring some cash around inside my JPMorgan Chase account and they didn't charge me a single cent. But then today, over at Bank of America, they actually hit me with a fee $33(and it was a much bigger chunk of change this time!). It's super confusing to me...

I've got an account at JPMorgan Chase too, and they don't hit me with fees for transfers within the bank either.

Look, here’s how it works in principle: if you’re making a transfer at JPMorgan Chase to someone who also holds an account right there at JPMorgan Chase, you aren't hit with any fees. But, the second you try to send money through JPMorgan Chase to some individual over at Bank of America? That’s when they start slapping those transaction fees on you.

Oh, I get that, but I actually tried doing an internal transfer today from my Bank of America account to another account at Bank of America, and they still charged me $33 fees... which feels kinda sketchy to me, I guess?

Wait, was this actually about making a payment to a corporate account?

EDIT:
According to the pages on the Bank of America website, it says
:
4. PAYMENT SERVICES
4.1. In-person deposits at the Bank 4.1.1. Deposits made to savings or checking accounts (USD or other foreign currencies) and credit accounts held by individuals at the Bankare free of charge.

I mean, it could totally be because they were depositing the funds directly into the business account... honestly, that’s probably what happened. Thanks!

That’s definitely it. There’s a fee for when an individual makes a transfer to a business checking account—it's 1% of the total, anywhere from a minimum of $2.00 to a maximum of $33.

I am reaching out because I could really use some urgent guidance on a technical matter... As a small business owner, I need to transfer net royalty payments from my business account to the individual bank accounts of my collaborators via online banking, but I’ve hit a bit of a wall regarding the required fields. I am quite unsure 😢 what specifically needs to be entered into the "approval reference number" and "debit reference number" fields.

Could someone please clarify what the "approval reference number" actually signifies and what information I should provide there?
And similarly, what does the "debit reference number" entail, and what belongs in that space?

I would be truly grateful for any help you can offer...
