Celibacy and boundary-crossing in sexual autonomy...

I find myself wondering about something lately... How is it even possible that an institution—one entirely dominated by men sworn to celibacy—manages to exert such an overwhelming influence over our very sexuality? It’s almost surreal. I mean, is this some sort of massive psychological compensation mechanism, or is there something more calculated at play here...?

They meddle because the Church is an institution built on the power to meddle: in people's sex lives, in how kids are raised, in national politics, in the education system... It's all connected. And as for those celibate guys? They're sleeping around just like everyone else.

If we’re talking about compensation, then we’d have to assume priests actually live up to their vows of celibacy. Personally? I think that’s a massive ( 😁 ) stretch.

Besides, I don't get why you’d feel the need to "justify" a reality you find distasteful—to whom, and by what authority? The only thing that makes sense is if you're trying to "justify" it to yourself.
