I was just sitting here thinking about this line from *Arabian Nights*:

"When the ear falls in love before the eye, it can lead to madness."

So, I’m throwing this out there—has it ever happened to you? Have you ever fallen for someone before even laying eyes on them, just because of something you heard about them?

I think that sentence could be interpreted in a few different ways (at least from my perspective)

She fell in love before I even laid eyes on him (way before that)
- it was through an online connection, quite a while back

She fell in love based on his intellect and conversation rather than his physical appearance (much more recent)
- just lately

There are probably several other valid interpretations out there...

The truth is, you can't fall in love with someone just by hearing stories about them. People lie, plain and simple. And even the people telling those stories? They probably don't actually know who that person really is. If anyone actually manages to fall in love based purely on hearsay, they've got to be totally irrational. It’s fine if your ears pick up on things before your eyes do, but the real issue is when people's mouths move faster than their ears can process. That's where most people trip up.

The reason I never fall head over heels quite so haphazardly is because I possess an infallible companion who transmits a distinct signal straight to my brain, essentially whispering, "you are in love." Only once that occurs do I allow myself to succumb, knowing with absolute certainty that this is the definitive moment.😍

No—absolutely not. I simply cannot fall for someone until I can see their eyes, their face, that specific smile... and until I can see all those words they spoke reflected there, in their gaze and in that smile.

Following the way Anthony Miller13 views things—which honestly makes way more sense to me than just "falling for someone based on their reputation"—I can personally vouch that she’s spot on.

Right now, I am absolutely head over heels for this girl. When we first met, physically speaking, she was pretty unremarkable. She wasn't ugly or anything, but she just didn't pop, you know? But as I’ve gotten to know her, I’ve realized she is just... she's incredible 😁 (even if she is c.o.m.p.l.i.c.a.t.e.d.... though that's actually even better! She isn't complicated in that annoying, irrational, indecisive sort of way. No, she's layered. She has this deep emotional history that makes her complex, almost like a stunning gemstone embedded with strange, beautiful crystals).

And let me tell you, as I get closer to her, she actually seems to become more beautiful to my eyes. Real beauty truly does radiate from within. She is just so precious to me. Like a bright, sunny Florida orange 😂 And she has these amazing eyes, and a cute little nose, and... and... everything... 😛

It’s as if true beauty actually radiates from within—it's quite a phenomenon. She’s just darling. Like a little little sunbeam 😂 And those eyes, and that cute little nose, and... and... everything else... 😛

When a person possesses genuine inner beauty, it inevitably manifests outwardly... which explains why you see so many gorgeous people out there who are, in reality, completely hollow—they lack that essential spark that makes someone truly beautiful!

I actually fell head over heels for a girl from the suburbs
just because of her accent. She was from Beverly Hills, and honestly, it was so captivating I could hardly believe it.

Turns out she’s an incredible person, too. Eventually, the physical attraction kicked in, even though her looks weren't what first caught my eye.

No way. For me, it's all about that instant physical spark!

Anthony Miller13 said:Falling in love before even seeing someone—totally overshot the mark there.
- through the internet (a long time ago, haha)

- she could fall for someone based purely on their thoughts and what they say,
the way they express themselves

I second this.

I met this guy once, and my very first thought was: "Jesus, poor guy, he's hideous..." Fast forward a few weeks and we were walking around together, then ended up dating for an entire year. He was a genuinely great person, but I think the fact that the physical attraction just wasn't hitting hard enough—amongst other things—is ultimately what caused us to call it quits...

I really wanted to express that I live for meeting in person! There is simply no substitute for seeing someone face-to-face if you want to feel that actual spark—you know, that instant chemistry where you both just feel the vibe immediately. I have absolutely no interest in falling for someone based on some clever line they typed out online. For me, it’s all about that honest, direct eye contact; the eyes truly tell the whole story. And if they happen to have blue eyes... even better!
