But you also said: the lady could barely tell the difference between Visa and Mastercard. I think you might be mixing things up a bit...

Has anyone else ever swiped their credit card only to realize their account balance hasn't budged? Like, there’s absolutely zero debt showing up on my end with the bank. I just realized this today, and honestly, it's bizarre. I spent some time trying to convince the teller at Chase that I definitely used the card, but she’s dead set on telling me I didn't because there isn't a single cent owed to the bank. It makes no sense...

Just check your Chase statement online.

Everything catches up to you eventually.

Maybe they just haven't finished processing everything on their end yet, but honestly, don't sweat it too much because it’ll definitely show up on your bill eventually—you can't exactly run away from your responsibilities, right?

Look, I’m not trying to run away from this, nor do I want to... The thing is, they’ve processed my deposits just fine, but none of the charges I’ve been fighting are showing up. I’m sitting here trying to convince the woman at Chase that I absolutely used my card, but she’s insisting I didn't. How can they just refuse to log an expense from two or three weeks ago? It doesn't even show the cash withdrawals I made at their ATM. Honestly, enough is enough. I'm going to march in there with my receipts in hand because I am not about to let them make this a problem.

Got a quick question about credit cards, but I don't want to deal with the hassle of starting a whole new thread, so I'm just dropping it here.
Kimberly Nguyen, feel free to move this somewhere else—as per usual. 🙏

I’ve got a bunch of credit cards that I don't always carry around with me (like, they aren't always in my purse).
Honestly, I'm low-key paranoid about someone swiping them right out of my hands.
Plus, my wallet is absolutely massive because I cram way too much junk into it. 🤣
Does anyone know if there's a tiny metal card case or something? Something slim enough to hold my cards without them bending or snapping?

Thanks in advance for the help.

You should check out the Amex Membership rewards portal; they usually have stuff available for redemption right there

There should be plenty of options available🙂

Basically, I’m getting rid of my Diners Club because I can't get anything done with their online shopping, and since I'm not really a fan of Amex, I'm just stuck choosing between a Visa and a Mastercard.

I did a little digging and saw that Visa is accepted at about 29 million locations, while Mastercard is at 32 million.
😲

I don't really know what else to look for, so if any of you guys actually use one of these two, let me know if you like them or if they're pretty much the same thing.
Thanks, I guess.

- Regarding the Mastercard, the APR sits at roughly 13.98%.
- There's a fee for cash advances at ATMs which is $10.
- You won't run into any fees when paying at retail locations.
- Your minimum monthly payment is 5% of your total credit balance—plus, you'll also need to cover any fees from $10 incurred from cash advances made between the 1st and the 30th/31st.

@MikeMiller ... Look, VISA is just the brand name here... any bank that issues their cards can set them up as either a charge card or a revolving credit line... I have no idea which ECMC card you're rambling about, so who's actually the issuer?

Can anyone here explain how credit limits actually work for charge cards versus revolving lines?
So, I’ve got a JPMorgan Chase charge card with a $4333 limit and a go-card set at 11,500. It costs me $2533. I don't have any other loans or anything.
Is it possible to ask for a bump in my limit, and if so, by how much? Would any kind soul be able to shed some light on this?

Maybe Anasib knows?😉

This sounds more like a bank advertisement...😉

I think it's pretty obvious that the terms you're listing vary depending on which specific bank issued the VISA card...

You can definitely ask for an increase, provided your income or credit score has improved since they first set those initial limits...

When I requested an increase, I just sent them a standard letter along with documentation proving my updated income and assets—I don't think there’s a specific formal process beyond that...

As far as I am aware, there is a specific process—at least, that’s how they approached me 🤷--
you just take your most recent pay stub to your local Chase branch and sign a request to increase your credit limit.

Hey everyone, just a quick question for the group. I’ve got this standard Mastercard—you know, the kind with the grace period where you can just carry a balance—and I was wondering if anyone’s ever run into issues using it while traveling abroad? Since the charges hit my foreign currency account, and honestly, I’m feeling pretty lazy about manually transferring funds from my main USD checking account to a separate travel account before every trip, I was thinking of just letting the transactions pull directly from my regular domestic account. Is there any risk of getting hit with weird fees or anything else that might eat into my budget? Thanks!

I used mine while traveling and had zero issues. Still—always carry a backup credit card or a debit card just in case. You never know... sometimes a card just won't swipe, maybe once in a blue moon, so better to be safe 😉
Regarding the foreign exchange thing and Chase—you don't actually need any funds in your foreign account at the exact moment you buy something, because the Mastercard works up to your set limit. When the bill hits—say, on June 16th for $300—that's when it pulls from your foreign account. If you don't have the cash in that specific account by the 16th, they'll just convert it from your regular checking. You can check your credit limit on the Chase app or just ask someone at a branch.

Yeah, I’m definitely going to stick with my Maestro debit card since that's where my paycheck lands. Honestly, I mostly use Mastercard as a backup; I much prefer just tapping my debit card because the money leaves my account immediately, and then I don't have to stress about it. I'll just pull out the Mastercard if a place doesn't take Maestro, but I was always a little paranoid that if my foreign currency account was empty, the transaction wouldn't go through or it wouldn't just pull from my main US checking account. I don't know, I've always had this weird anxiety about paying for things while traveling. But okay, now that I know I'm good to go, I can use the Mastercard and it'll just draw from my regular account without any drama. I'll probably just ignore the foreign currency account entirely. Thanks so much for the heads-up! 🙂

Could someone lay out the full process for getting a Diner's Club student card? I'm looking for every single step, right up until they mail the card to my house.

I filled out their application online. About a week or two later, a card issuance form showed up at my house. One of my parents had to sign off on it, set a monthly spending limit, and include a recent pay stub (or pension statement). They also asked for a copy of a property deed or something similar—it’s better to just provide it to ensure everything goes through smoothly. I originally thought I just needed to write down my student ID number, but now I think they want a photocopy of the front of the ID sent along with the other paperwork. A week after that, my PIN arrived in the mail, while the actual card was waiting for me in Prague. I've had it for two years now (this one expires this September, so I'll have to reapply), and honestly, I'm stoked with it. Ever since JP Morgan took over, you can use it everywhere, and plenty of places even let you pay in installments. 👍
And the annual fee is only $17.
