By banging on them incessantly, they would surely spend every evening mourning the loss of yet another overflowing trash bin.

For the moment, the inner circle is making sure not a single cent of taxpayer money falls into the wrong hands.
Even if it means letting every meaningful project fall apart in the process.

It’s funny how Adams, Kek, and the club leader Ivandic all use the exact same talking points to defend themselves. It feels like they're all getting briefed by the same person. They keep insisting that New York City was falling apart 20 or 30 years ago and that things were actually worse back then. They’re basically calling the citizens liars. Honestly, I don't think we want to wait another three years just to see if those 200,000 people would give them their votes again.

Seems like you want to.

Aspiring Analyst, you might actually be right for once. Just this once.😁
But Petek and Gotovac are pushing back more and more, criticizing everything and distancing themselves. And I don't see Grbin as much of an authority figure who could actually shut them down.

Go promote your bridge or whatever. I see how you're all scrambling to win those votes.

Just imagine... the Democratic Party starts complaining... and then what? They can howl at the moon all they want, but they aren't winning any new elections. We have the Republican Party to thank for those new sheriff laws.

Honestly, I could just wash my hands of this incompetent crew. They see the public's frustration and are distancing themselves while they still can. It’s only natural they don't want to take the fall for these obvious blunders that would lead to a total wipeout in the first election.
That doesn't mean it'll definitely happen, but if these screw-ups continue and the public backlash keeps growing... well. Anything is possible.☕

"I don't think we're going to wait another three years just to see how many of those 200,000 people would vote for them all over again."

Those were your exact words. If the Democratic Party wants to distance themselves, let them. They're nothing but dead weight anyway, and I honestly have no clue why Eric Adams keeps giving them so much credit.
But even if the Democratic Party turns its back on the Green Party, how does that lead us to an election in less than three years?

Maybe they just refuse to pass the budget? Once the Democratic Party finishes shuffling their people around and Grbin and Gotovac are happy with the ratio of political appointees, they'll go after power. They just need a replacement coalition before the next election cycle...

Even if everyone refused to back their budget—which, honestly, is what every single council member should do since the Green Party is one vote short of a majority—Tomašević isn't going anywhere. The council just gets dissolved instead.

Didn't Vić say the other day that they weren't missing pickups more than once a week? Well, there’s been trash sitting in my street for the last three collections, so what now?

I'm done with this garbage situation. Unless someone can prove things were actually better back when that Train robber was running the show, I'm joining the Green Party...

The neighborhood is drowning in fucking trash at this point, it's not even funny anymore. 🤦

He probably gives them importance because they hold the majority in the council. I don't see any other reason.😁

The notion that the Democratic Party actually benefits from elections right now—regardless of when or where they happen—goes far beyond mere wishful thinking. It’s practically delusional, existing in some completely different dimension altogether.

Exactly. And if there were new assembly elections, the Green Party would probably pull an even bigger win.
People would definitely believe their lies over what's actually happening right in front of them. 😁

I don't expect any sense from people who stubbornly vote Republican nationwide while backing Bloomberg at the local level for twenty years straight.

We were all waiting for Bloomberg to kick the bucket, only to see him replaced by some NGO activists with zero real-world experience. Honestly, I don't know who in this dysfunctional mess of a country and city is actually excited about elections...

Is there any chance the mayor might step down because people are fed up?
Just a heads up, summer and those heatwaves are right around the corner. People are already pretty frustrated. And at the end of the day, voters decide things, not people on an internet forum. Ask someone in Indianapolis. 😁

You've got a point there. I'm not expecting us to make a great choice either.
But it's definitely possible we could at least clear out the incompetent crowd.

"Is there any chance the mayor might step down if people keep pushing back?"

It’s possible... but how realistic is it that he'd actually quit just to run again later? Why even bother?
Basically, if he walks away, the whole party platform falls apart and they won't even show up on the ballot.
In that scenario, you'll be stuck choosing between the Republicans or the Democratic Party (thank God, I'm passing on that—my vote's due in three days).

If that happens, good luck to you... you'll be crying for Trump once Donald Trump and Herman take over the city.

I don't know. If elections were happening right now, maybe the Democratic Party wouldn't be sweeping the board quite so easily, but they'd definitely clear a majority. There’d probably be a massive chance to put together a State Government without needing a single Bernie Sanders in the mix.

but the elections aren't even happening yet
you’re stuck with Eric Adams for another three years, dammit... nothing's changing, no matter how much people were hoping for a miracle
