That’s exactly why we’re stuck in this mess—every time there's a heist or some shady deal, the Democrats just pivot to saying the Republicans did it more or did it too. I guess our esteemed colleague is writing about how much her party would spend just to stock up on brooms.

Now JOHABI will vanish for a few days, just like they always do whenever they pull a stunt this embarrassing.

Edit: Ah, never mind, apparently they still haven't decided. It’s stuck in the red tape.

Just go ask someone who's actually registered! Here? Seriously? Just "here"? That’s all we're getting now? Unbelievable..

Jack Hill2 said:So it's based $8.25per broom, yet she just fabricated this whole narrative about $67per broom costs.

At the very least, an apology is overdue...

How many was Bandić's procurement actually for?

And this guy went and dragged an innocent man through the mud too. Just completely trashed him for no reason. 🤣

Even the official New York City gazette and the city's own websites don't play around with decisions the way my colleague does. She’s out here making up her own rules!
Just one look at this is enough. Seriously. July 7, 2022 | Issue No. 21

Feel free to set me straight. Nobody actually knows everything happening here anyway. 🙂

Oh please, they'll probably just claim they were lying or being manipulated or paid off... typical.

Once the stench finally penetrates the collective consciousness of New Yorkers, Eric Adams won't be able to retreat from the mayoralty fast enough. Tick tock...

Oh, absolutely,

I just got back from downtown, and honestly, I didn't see any of these garbage cataclysms people are describing in these tragic little posts, nor did I smell anything out of the ordinary. Is this "cataclysm" something that only exists on forum pages, especially if you happen to spend your time obsessing over every little thing?

The waste management situation is visibly improving day by day.

Maybe they should let them take a few hits and learn some lessons; it’s actually quite useful, isn't it? They're young, after all, and they'll learn how to navigate the world—especially how to swim among the sharks. These are people who likely have another thirty years of political life ahead of them, and I'm fairly certain they'll remain on the political stage in this current setup or some slightly modified version of it.

Meanwhile, that old-school, chaotic mindset we used to deal with is fading further into the past every single day (tick tock).

Can someone from Tomašević's inner circle—or maybe just someone who actually knows what’s going on behind the scenes—explain why they’re handling the topic of: the final legislative proposal regarding...

Is it possible, RF, that we could Vote Against?

It feels like some sort of backroom deal. Is there any actual paper trail from the coalition explaining their specific reasoning?

Since TT is a cyclist—someone I actually respect and follow—I’m asking within this thread, thinking I might find more common ground with fellow commuters here than in the main coalition discussion.

From what I gathered during my chat with the traffic police, this law was drafted in total secrecy—no consultations whatsoever with cycling or scooter advocacy groups. It’s a far cry from the previous version, where public suggestions and amendments were actually considered; this time, the community has been completely shut out.

It seems the whole thing is being pushed through just to tighten the legal definitions of vehicles during traffic violations—something that wasn't even necessary for certain types of transport before.

Are Tomašević, Sandra, and the rest of the crew really such hardcore advocates for bikes and scooters, just cruising along with the wind in their hair?

Because after hearing how they planned to handle the unvaccinated, I honestly expected them to be the first ones stepping up to demand strict penalties and oversight on this matter. 🤷

Has Škoro jumped ship to the "We Can" party or joined the Labor Front? 😁

And what exactly would their plan be for those who haven't been vaccinated? Would they just force vaccinations on everyone and start snatching children away from their parents?

Look, if you really want to know, there’s that live call-in show on WNYC every Tuesday where the Mayor—whether it's Eric Adams, Korlaet, or Dolenecka—actually sits down to answer questions directly. Why not just call in and ask them yourself?

Honestly, I’ve never heard them dodge a question; they always provide coherent, polite, and well-reasoned answers. It’s a night and day difference compared to, well, we all know who I mean (the one who spent his time shouting at citizens and hurling insults on air), though he certainly isn't the only one who behaves like that.

It's not that you don't get why you can't just hand out terminations whenever you feel like it—you'd end up facing a lawsuit and paying damages, which is just a basic, proven fact... and one that courts have upheld plenty of times before—but instead, you just complain;

and then, to make matters worse, you treat the actual facts of the situation as if they were just some imaginary scenario, like those fake rumors about Tolušić getting hired.

Out of nowhere, too.

Then you go shouting at the Official Gazette, throwing accusations everywhere based on your own made-up theories, and somehow acting like someone else is at fault during the conversation. 😁

There's just no sense in writing like this. I mean, technically you're making points, but statements and opinions still need to be grounded in some kind of reality...😁

Look, I get it, you can't just fire him on a whim.
It's just as obvious as the fact that he's a Republican through and through, that he got his position through party connections, that his sister is a criminal, that he's out there driving around without a license, and that people helped him cheat on his civil service exams and all that nonsense.
What I don't get, though, is why you feel the need to defend every single move TT makes as if he were your own flesh and blood.
If he messed up—and in this specific case, he definitely did—then we should be calling him out on it so the same mistake doesn't happen again.

It says they’re ordering 73,330 brooms.

Based on what the news has been saying about past purchases of those Brezov brand brooms, it looks like they're buying them for all the different branches under the New York City municipal umbrella and the sanitation department.

What exactly are these "decorative brooms" /03 — 1,000 units?

Did you catch the legislative debate on that law? The opposition keeps proposing amendments that get rejected every time. They criticize specific articles, then government reps explain why those parts are actually necessary, so it makes sense that the opposition votes against a law they criticized and couldn't amend. It's not just the left wing; the right and everyone else does it too. This particular law faced a ton of criticism. It's not about being against penalties or oversight, it's more about the fine details and how it's actually implemented.

Hold on—so now the most basic legal concept, the fact that you can't just fire people whenever you feel like it, is considered "defending someone like they're your brother"?

It isn't about your personal feelings... the issue is whether there's a legitimate argument for why it can't happen.

Kaćunko, where is your conscience? 😁

Besides, defending Tomašević might come in handy.
Politicians only have as much power as the support they get from voters.

If you sit there and start whining too much, Drpimir Filipović will be right there to "help" you out... by shutting you down. 😁

July 15, 2022 - The municipal sanitation department, which handles all the trash collection services, is basically asking any interested retailers to step up. They want people to stock and sell those standardized mixed waste bags at their stores throughout New York City.
So far, we’ve got Walmart, Kroger, News Corp, USA Today, Gap Inc., top start, and Vrutak responding to the call, covering over 450 locations across New York City.

They’re inviting other big retail chains and local shops to jump in too, mostly just so every New York City resident can actually find these bags without a massive headache.
The invitation stays open indefinitely.

Gary Cox2 said:^^ isn't just an assistant anymore, they're full-blown sector heads now... Honestly, Rosada did a solid job with the restructuring. It used to be a total mess where you'd have three assistants crammed into one office—it was ridiculous. Now, it's one per department. Some people might claim nothing actually changed and it’s just slow packaging, but they're wrong. The pay scales are lower, which means fewer perks too. People were even getting so worked up about their slashed salaries that they started signing petitions; some folks saw their take-home pay drop by roughly $1.00. But look, Rosada pulled it off, and things are finally starting to look organized in the administration. I'm happy with it. It's not as complicated or layered as running New York City, let's be real.

They just merged the offices and called it a day; everything else remains exactly the same. You think the coefficient for a deputy commissioner is some trivial little number? Try doing the math. Just look at the merged offices and see the absolute mess of these "new" sectors—every single one comes with its own assistant, and of course, it's the same old crowd. On top of that, you've got at least two more people floating around at the office level just waiting for some cushy, low-effort job. So much for "savings," right? Everything else is untouched. You still have all these services, departments, and sub-units with barely two employees each. It's pure parasitism. What are we even talking about here? This is massive amounts of money being thrown down the drain. It's spread so thin it's insane—everyone is a "boss" or a "junior boss," and they're all perfectly fine. If this is what they call a reform, then yeah, sure. That's not a reform; that's a fairy tale. And of course, this is what happens when you hand the task of restructuring over to the exact same crew you found when you started. God help us...

July 15, 2022 - The New York City Department of Sanitation, the agency handling municipal waste collection, is inviting interested retailers to submit an expression of interest for storing, distributing, and selling standardized mixed waste bags at their retail locations throughout New York City.
So far, Walmart, Kroger, News Corp, The New York Times, Gap Inc., top start, and Vrutak have responded to the public call, covering over 450 retail locations across New York City.

We are calling on other retail chains and merchants to join us, with the goal of making these bags easily accessible to every citizen of New York City.
This call remains open indefinitely.

Is it really that hard to just swing by Walmart, Target, or a few others and grab some bags?
Instead of asking everyone to show up at the Sanitation Department, they could have just put out a basic announcement in the papers.😵

If they actually bothered to check Walmart, Target, and a few other places, they’d probably just complain about how much time they're wasting instead of actually putting out a public call for bids.

I spent a few years working in wholesale, and let me tell you, those people don't even read the papers, let alone bother applying for openings.
Nobody from their crew ever showed up at our place; if anything, we were always the ones begging them to hire us.
Maybe they'll rush over to the Sanitation Department for the sake of Saint Tomica just to chase a few extra bucks from selling trash bags.

I mean, you can't exactly fit all those boxes on a bike, though.

These people are basically calling for everyone to get hauled off to the Sanitation Department, or whatever... instead of at least having some kind of actual announcements in the news 😵

People are never happy, I guess. How's the trash pickup looking in your neck of the woods?
