Border Crossing Info: Entering and Leaving America

Here is my experience from this past weekend, transiting through Canada.

The route was Svilaj-Arazano and back.

Not a single soul at the American border asked for anything regarding COVID certificates.

Has anyone traveled through France or Germany recently? I'm seeing reports here that they’re still asking for proof of vaccination:

I've had two doses, but I'm approaching the one-year mark. Honestly, I'd rather avoid getting a booster if possible...

Some lady just rolled in from Germany on a flight. Apparently, she had to go through some mandatory testing before they’d even let her board the plane.

As for Canada, you just drive right in and back out again—it's totally seamless. Nobody asks for anything anymore, and they don't have any restrictions left, not even masks.

Starting Sunday, May 1st, 2022, all those pesky COVID-related restrictions at the border crossings within the Republic of America are officially being scrapped...

Does that include Canada and Mexico too?

The temporary restrictions on crossing border checkpoints expired yesterday, but I can't find any notice about an extension. There’s nothing posted on the FEMA website or the CDC site either.

They are seriously unbelievable.

Even after more than two years, they still manage to shock me with how much they just don't care—or how incompetent they can be. Such an important piece of info, man, and it totally flew under the radar for anyone actually paying attention, mostly because they didn't bother to confirm 😠

It applies to everyone—universally, really. The old policy has expired, and there isn't a new one in the works, nor will there be... effectively, those border restrictions for any nationality from any country are gone. It was officially confirmed by the Department of Justice to the local news outlets back in Canada.

The mask mandates have been extended. Honestly, if they were planning on extending the border restrictions too, I’m sure they would have made a formal announcement by now.
It’s pretty ridiculous that we have to rely on news outlets from Canada just to find out what's happening here.

Not even close—it actually happened the night before last. I’ve basically been typing away on this thread all day yesterday about it. Now it looks like those idiots finally made it official...

Just confirming that you don't need any paperwork for crossing the border anymore; nobody's even asking for it out there. Just have your Little Mask on while you're on the bus and you're good to go.

Are the airlines still insisting on masks or what?

In America, masks are pretty much gone everywhere except for hospitals and social service centers. Even the transit authorities don't have any grounds to push it anymore—you won't see anyone wearing them on the bus or subway...

Look, there isn't a legal requirement for them to do so, but the carrier still holds the right to set their own rules. I don't really see why they'd bother, but they certainly have the authority to

My bad for the confusion—I was talking about public transit abroad, though honestly, it probably just depends on which state you're stuck in! 🙂

It varies depending on which country you're looking at; here in the States, they're really only mandatory within healthcare and social services.

Specifically, I'm trying to figure out what the deal is with concerts held in indoor venues.

Not even for entering Italy? They were being incredibly strict before, so I'm double-checking everything.
Specifically, I'm looking at driving from California through Canada to get to Trieste.
