When I was comparing Johnny Cash and Gib to show how equally unbearable they are, I wasn't saying they share the same worldview. It’s just a matter of taste.
The only thing I can't figure out is whether Johnny Cash is just a right-wing version of Gib, or if Gib is actually a left-wing version of Johnny Cash. Either way—they’re both trying to say more than they’re capable of.

The President of America said:If we’re being totally real here, the guys who were out there with guns defending America back in the 90s are absolute legends in my book! Especially when you look at the current mess and see exactly what kind of characters make up the landscape in America today! ☕

P.S.
I only listen to Eagles in the background while I'm doing other stuff, since I definitely lean toward higher quality foreign rock!

First off, let's stick to talking about America. As far as goes, we just don't have any top-tier singer-songwriters here. Not yet, anyway. I won't get into the soldiers-turned-artists thing because that's not really the point, though man, we could talk about that for hours. And finally...

P.S.
It's pretty obvious you're just listening to Gib on shuffle, because if you weren't, there's no way you would've posted such a massive load of nonsense in the thread title!

That’s not Johnny Cash, it’s actually this guy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=od-7WuU4L7w , they just have similar voices. Johnny Cash was singing, but that was probably just at some wedding or something; he didn't record this track. I noticed when those young Democrats start singing off-key, nobody seems to say a word. Personally, I think both Gib and Johnny Cash are great—they both write killer songs. Honestly, the fact that some of you find Johnny Cash hard to stomach doesn't bother me even two percent.

To tolerate doesn't necessarily mean to love instead of hating; rather, it feels much closer to "enduring" or perhaps "not approving, yet not condemning either."

Or am I mistaken?

It’s close, but it really means to suffer!

Like suffering through Stjepan Mason, Marija Petković, or Matvejevica. Suffering through the Jasenovac Josipovic-Kosor visit and those other legends. Suffering through idiot programming on CNN, suffering through neighbors like Tadic-Cvetkovic, suffering through fools in traffic, and suffering through everything else...

Look, let's not fall into the trap of cheap politics here.

We're looking at two musicians from America who, through their respective bodies of work, have shaped the soul of this country.

If you want proof of how similar they actually are, I'll just mash two of their lines together for you:

(First, the grand anthem)
John Paul's second
America loves you

(And then, the quiet undertone)
I could still win you over with a song
Cunning and sweet

Morgan Booth6 said:It’s because clearly some people here can't wrap their heads around the fact that the song "Tolerant" isn't about anything else other than how all human beings—Black, White, Asian, whatever—are equal. It's about not grouping people based on skin color or religion or any of that nonsense. Basically, it's about saying racism shouldn't exist, which has absolutely nothing to do with the whole "patriotism" thing mentioned earlier!!!

It’s just obvious that some folks find that too deep to grasp since he sang it in his own unique style, rather than making it some "easy listening, easy lyrics" nursery rhyme that even (sadly) those with special needs could follow, like, "is the guy white, black, or yellow? He's just like you—so if you're a racist, shut your mouth."

And let me say it one more time: TOLERANCE IS ABOUT HUMANITY, NOT THE PATRIOTISM OF JOHNNY CASH!!!

Humanity is much like patriotism. A patriot loves his Home. I believe those who are afraid of being patriotic have finally realized the connection between Eagles, Oliver, Johnny Cash, Bilic, Cervar, and Blanka Vlasic.😁

Melissa Harris4 said:Exactly. Johnny Cash blows the Eagles out of the water when it comes to voice, presence, and lyrics—he's miles ahead... they don't have anything in common and they never will!!!

Look, you’re entitled to your own taste and opinion. Honestly, thank God the number of people who agree with you is pretty small, otherwise everyone would be running around shouting "Ready for battle!" at the drop of a hat.☕
That goes along with what you said about them having absolutely nothing in common (thank God).

Now, I'm not one to comment on how someone looks, but I gotta ask—doesn't this guy, who you say has a better build, look like he's had a bit of work done?😁
Here's the link for context:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7oHHIfh-WM

Again, it's all just subjective. Personally, I'd much rather listen to someone singing from the heart than someone just screaming their lungs out. Anyone can scream, but hardly anyone can sing from the soul..

What I love about Gib is how he truly pours himself into every single song—I honestly get the feeling he's lived through every single line he writes. Sure, he can be a bit overly dramatic at times, but who cares? I love listening to him and just enjoying the vibe. "Mirakul" was definitely the absolute peak of his career.

On a similar note, I also enjoy listening to Marijan Ban, even though the man can't actually sing, but... well, to each their own.

I wouldn't dare compare Johnny Cash to Severina. They both just know how to market themselves perfectly. He realized that people here respond to faith and patriotism, and he makes a killing off that—it's enough to give you a headache—while she figured out that she can sell a whole lot of nothing just by showing off her physique, and make a fortune doing it.

Yeah, Joško Tomičić—the actual writer behind half those tracks people credit to Johnny Cash—died in a car wreck. He’s the one who actually penned Jasenovac and Gradiška, Oh Ivica and Račan, along with plenty of other heavy hitters from that repertoire.

Let’s dive into a little defense of common sense here ☕
1. Who even are these people trying to compare Eagles to his old man?
Honestly, we’re lucky that among Americans there are still folks who actually respect the work of someone like Liebe Stipić, though it's pretty hilarious how most of you don't even know what the guy does or if his records even exist.
The old man collects ethnographic music and folk songs from the Mediterranean islands and rural hinterlands, while Eagles is a mainstream pop-rock powerhouse with the biggest sales and most awards in the country.
They are both absolute masters of their respective crafts, plain and simple. They play in entirely different leagues.
2. The lyrics to Tolerant are pretty straightforward. The message is that just because you belong to one group, it doesn't mean you have to hate the other; instead, there should be mutual respect and tolerance between everyone.
3. THERE WERE SO MANY STUPID COMMENTS flying around, but let's look at the nonsense claiming Eagles is celebrating a revival of America just to expand his market—what kind of bullshit is that? If he wanted to, he could probably book out a Mexico City venue for seven days straight if they paid him upfront, so what are you even talking about? Every single tour, he's playing Ljubljana, New Year's Eve he's pulling 30,000 people in Skopje...
Then someone goes and claims Johnny Cash is a better singer than Eagles.
Look, setting aside the fact that Johnny Cash sings like he’s trying to pass a pumpkin-sized turd, tastes vary and I really don't care if someone likes Marko.
But let's be real, everyone knows he rips off Metallica and Iron Maiden...
If you look at the critical acclaim, the awards, and the record sales... it's crystal clear that Eagles is the higher quality artist.
4. Regarding Eagles getting involved in politics, it’s honestly no surprise; I mean, who wouldn't speak up against the corruption of the GOP? If he had stayed silent, he would've been a fool. On the flip side, you can't shove Eagles into a political box because he's totally apolitical; he sings about his own life, his worldview, love... He’s basically the only one promoting universal values on the American music scene, serving as a UNICEF ambassador, yet you all want to slap a "cheap politician" label on him. Where is your sense of decency?

Eagles - Toleranca

On his new album Toleranca, the Eagles include a single line in the title track that perfectly captures what so many of us on these political forums have been saying all along! It really is high time some people realized that patriotism can never be negative, backward, or primitive, nor does it have to imply hatred toward others, even though that's how certain groups constantly try to paint it! With this lyric, the Eagles actually touched upon the very essence of what the much-debated Johnny Cash sings about here! For some reason, the Eagles felt the need to weave that "Cash-style" sentiment into their own song, and honestly, more power to them for doing so... 👍

I honestly can't wrap my head around why you'd even think to compare the Eagles to Johnny Cash...

It seems like your lyrical analysis skills might be a little lacking...👎
but then again... the album isn't even titled Toleranca, which makes it hard to link back to Johnny Cash if you try really hard...😁

Why are you talking trash when you clearly don't have a clue?

The Beginning

In principio erat verbum
et verbum erat apud Deum
et Deus erat verbum

In the beginning, He created the light,
and man to be His image:
"Here, take this and rule the earth justly."

At first, man was good,
a true reflection of God,
until he started wanting way too much.

He raised a hand against his brother,
grabbing land and reaching for the sword,
deceiving his Father and stepping into sin.

The rain falls, the fields work, children dream,
God hasn't abandoned us.

And since then, man has been tricking God,
with wars and drugs everywhere,
as if the world were just lost.

Nations and races fight,
and false prophets drive the masses mad.
Children, faith, the body—everything is for sale.

Once, man was just a hunter,
but now he kills his neighbor for cash.
He attacks, he steals, and spreads fear across the globe.

The rain falls, the fields work, children dream,
God hasn't abandoned us.

Your words have been twisted, God,
as if the devil lives right under the skin.
They know nothing of mercy or regret.

But I won't live in that sin,
and I won't let our kids follow that path.
If only my song could fix the world!

Let's defend love; everyone needs it,
forgiveness and hope are gifts from heaven.
Look straight into the eyes of your Creator!

The rain falls, the fields work, children dream,
God hasn't abandoned us.

Now, this is what I call spreading tolerance. ☕

Eagles - Tolerant

On his new album *Tolerant*, specifically in the title track, the Eagles drops a single line that perfectly captures exactly what so many people on these political forums have been shouting about for ages. It’s honestly high time some folks realized that patriotism isn't some negative, backward, or primitive concept. Loving your country doesn't have to mean hating everyone else, even though certain people try to paint it that way all too often. With this one lyric, the Eagles actually managed to hit on the same core sentiment that Johnny Cash sings about so frequently here. For some reason, the Eagles felt the need to weave that "Cash-style" sentiment into his own song, and honestly, more power to him. 👍

Forgive me, Your Majesty, but...

You're being reckless.

I'm sorry.

I mean, what is patriotism actually about if not just this constant, desperate urge to prove our little country is somehow better than the next one? (And honestly, I’m saying this however the hell I want—don't give a damn if anyone takes offense.)

Patriotism doesn't actually exist. There’s just this fundamental love for the country where you were born. Anything else you hear is just hypocrisy coming from mediocre people. Because if you actually love your country—if you truly understand what that kind of devotion means—you don't feel the need to constantly brag about its value or go around aggressively defending it. It just is what it is.

Honestly, man, let's face it: countries are just imaginary lines drawn by greedy bastards who divided up the world just to protect their own interests.

And here’s my take on the whole situation with the Eagles and Johnny Cash...
sine

Some things are just meant to stay beyond our grasp. There’s no sense in trying to force an understanding when it isn't there for the taking.

Sincerely yours,
Scott Doyle65

Peace.

Come on, don't talk nonsense!
Eagles is a UNESCO ambassador for goodwill, whereas Johnny Cash is just a local, niche product. Nothing more.
There is a massive difference. 😂🤣
