I’ve been following this journalist for a while now. I can honestly say I’ve picked up a thing or two from him. What really strikes me, though, is his style. He doesn't hold back—he goes after the FBI, the Federal Reserve, politicians... everyone. Sometimes he writes like he’s just venting at a bar.
Are you guys following Petrov? Do you think his take on things is grounded in reality? Is his tone appropriate, or is his assessment actually on point? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Maybe this topic belongs in a different thread, but it feels like most people hanging out in the media sections aren't even interested in this subject.

Occasionally, maybe. Not really. He made a smart move with currencies once, and it’s fine that he points out irregularities at the FBI. But there's a downside: he spends way too much time bragging about his portfolio, he tears into institutions he clearly doesn't understand, and everything he touches feels like cheap sensationalism... You only know who he is because we have about five journalists covering this beat. ☕

In my book, he’s just another sensationalist clown—the kind our media landscape is practically overflowing with, especially in sports journalism. It's pure tabloid trash. If I recall correctly, about two years ago, he calmly reported that IBM had inked a deal with Coco Chanel, which was an absolute fabrication. His article actually caused a trading halt on the NYSE, followed by a massive crash once everyone realized the news was fake. And what were the consequences for him? Absolutely nothing. This wasn't even his first rodeo.

Tom Petrov is just attacking the FBI because they gave him the boot once.😁

No one is actually going to hire him because of that attitude, regardless of how impressive his resume looks on paper; as you can tell, he's a bit... let's call it "unconventional."

So instead, he spends his time bickering on these news sites, looking frustrated and just lashing out at everything in sight... when in reality, most of what he writes is nonsense that only sounds smart because he sprinkles in a few math terms like "hyperbola" or "sphere," making you think for a second that the kid actually knows what he's talking about.

I don't know. I wouldn't say he's trying to act smart. He comes from a scientific background, and if you actually read academic papers, you'll see this is just how people talk. It’s just his way of expressing things.

But his writing style is what really gets me. It feels like some heated argument at a local bar. In his last column, he straight-up called hedge fund managers losers. If we're talking about the weight of his work, I'd put him up there with Birtić. In terms of being sharp, he's closest to Grčar from the back pages of Leader, but even he isn't this combative. Then there's the constant bolding and the typos.

Heh. Honestly? He’s usually right about that. Just look at their annual returns. It’s a complete circus. Anyone who actually listened to him ended up just as broke. And then there’s Bertice—now he’s probably prepping some lawsuit against whoever he can find because he got burned. I remember reading his glowing endorsements for ExxonMobil and other stocks a couple of years back; I couldn't stop laughing. If you bother to check which stocks they hold (they list them at the end of the pieces), you'll see their recent sector analyses are nothing but mindless cheerleading. Because in their world, they don't make mistakes... 🤣🤣🤣

Don't listen to the analysts, the fund managers, your friends, or your cousins. Just learn how to think for yourself. IMHO
