Transformers: Age of Extinction (2018)

Pacific Rim was basically a love letter to those old-school pulp sci-fi flicks—it had soul—but this? This is just some soulless, exploitative trash.

It’s just pure nonsense from 311 miles miles away.

We might get one more installment from them, but definitely not two.

My expectations for this film are pretty straightforward: I just want to see massive robots going toe-to-toe with giant kaiju, and nothing else.
To be honest, I suspect it might land a couple of notches lower than the first one in terms of quality, but I’m definitely still planning to check it out.

Power Rangers meet Transformers. It lacks even a shred of the spirit or character found in the original. Some actors are playing recycled roles—except they’ve been stripped down to mere caricatures. The Jaegers still look great, and that pilot synchronization—the way they move together—is (still) cool 😎. As for the lead male pilots? Zero charisma. Their backstories are cliché—actually, they don't even have backstories. They aren't even eye candy 🥱. Honestly, if they had died, I wouldn't have cared

The whole thing is saved by a bunch of teenagers, though it’s all pretty ridiculous—they didn't mention if any of the kids were gay, but other than that, they checked off every possible PC demographic imaginable... And of course, the ending teases a third installment because, obviously, Hollywood won't stop milking a franchise until there's nothing left to squeeze out

On a positive note, I was forced to visit an AMC Theatres that I can't remember ever stepping foot in. The theater is small, but the seats are comfortable and there’s actually decent legroom—more room in the seats and in the aisles compared to what you get at Regal Cinemas. There were only a few trailers, so the movie started promptly when it was supposed to. Plus, the popcorn isn't made of styrofoam! Not that I'll be making this a regular haunt, but at least I'll keep it in mind as an option. Thanks, Regal Cinemas 🍿.

What kind of absolute garbage movie is this? LOL... and not because giant robots are fighting monsters (I actually loved the first one).

I knew it wouldn't live up to the original, but I didn't expect it to be this brainless. And man, watching them force those Asian actors into these supposedly "pivotal" roles while listening to them struggle through their English lines... it’s just painful. Hahaha...

Look, I get it, the Chinese market is massive and they're becoming a huge player in Hollywood, but give me a break... it totally reminded me of that ridiculous fantasy flick where Matt Damon defends China from Zerg on the Great Wall.

Watched the movie. Obviously, the plot is total garbage—but I'll admit, the visual effects were good enough to keep me glued to the screen.

So, what do you all think? Is this deal actually worth it?
