I was thinking about this today while watching a match, and it’s honestly starting to feel like every single thing we love is being sliced up and sold to the highest bidder. It used to feel like these massive global events were about the spirit of the game or bringing people together, but now it just feels like a giant math equation designed to squeeze every last cent out of the fans.
It's getting harder to tell where the actual sport ends and the corporate takeover begins. Every time I turn on the TV, there’s another new sponsor, another weird commercial tie-in, or some massive restructuring that seems more interested in private equity than the actual players on the pitch. It feels like we're moving toward a world where "prestige" is just a code word for "how much can we charge a hedge fund to own a piece of this?"
Do you guys think we've already hit the point of no return with big sports, or is there still room for the soul of the game to survive the money grab?
