Lucy starts off as this tight, sci-fi thriller, but then it just turns into a total shitshow with a nonsensical plot involving godhood and some wild time-travel trip through space filled with too many special effects.

Maybe my take on Ryan falls into this category too, even if they aren't perfect halves. That first half-hour or so on the beach is pure, breathless chaos, but after that—even though it’s still beautifully shot—it shifts into more of a character-driven action vibe, kind of like Band of Brothers.

From Dusk Till Dawn — what the hell was that?? Luckily, nobody spoiled it for me during my first watch, but when the "villains" finally showed up, my only reaction was a massive "WTF?"

Pretty wild fact, though—they actually shot the scenes in Vietnam first before heading to the training camp.
