I was watching the game last night and it got me thinking about how much we obsess over streaks. We love to talk about how a certain player is "on fire" or how a team has become "unstoppable" just because they've had a lucky run of a few weeks.
Honestly, I feel like half the time, it’s just a statistical anomaly. You see a pitcher or a specific lineup hit a hot patch and suddenly everyone is acting like they've found the secret formula for winning. Then, two weeks later, the "magic" disappears and everyone is wondering what went wrong. In my experience, it's much more about the math and the matchups than some mystical wave of energy.
I don't want to be a buzzkill, but I really struggle with the idea that a single trade or a short winning streak changes the fundamental DNA of a team. It feels like we're just looking for patterns where there aren't any.
Do you guys actually believe in momentum, or do you think it's all just luck and timing?
