Is there anything more soul-crushing than watching a pitcher put in a masterpiece only for the rest of the team to look like they’ve never swung a bat in their lives?
I was watching the game last night and it felt like a slow descent into madness. You see one guy absolutely locking it down, carving through the lineup, and you start thinking, "Okay, this is it. We’ve got this. We're finally going to pull off the sweep." Then the innings roll by and it’s just... nothing. Silence. Total offensive paralysis.
It’s a special kind of frustration when the guys on the mound do their job perfectly, but the guys at the plate can't even find a gap. It makes you wonder if there's a mental block that kicks in during these high-stakes series, or if some squads just lack that "clutch" instinct when the pressure is actually on. It feels like a complete waste of a brilliant outing.
Does anyone else feel like certain teams just have this weird inability to capitalize when the stars align for their pitching staff?
