I was watching some highlights last night and it got me thinking about how insane the whole "commitment" process has become for these kids. It feels like every time I turn on the news, there's another blue-chip prospect narrowing down their list, and the hype machine just goes into overdrive.
It’s a lot of pressure to put on someone who hasn't even finished high school yet. I remember back in my day, you just played for the local powerhouse or went where your buddies went. Now, it feels like every decision is a massive, televised media event with millions of eyes watching every single move. It makes me wonder if any of these players are actually choosing based on fit, or if they're just navigating a massive web of influence and branding.
Does anyone else feel like the "pre-professional" era of amateur sports has completely stripped the joy out of the actual game?
