I’ve been watching a lot of team rebuilds lately, and I’m starting to wonder if we overvalue the "system" behind the scenes. We always hear about how certain coaching staffs or front-office groups bring a specific winning DNA with them, as if success is something you can just transplant from one city to another like a plant.
It’s an interesting concept, but I have my doubts. Can a philosophy built in one environment actually translate when the scenery, the climate, and the entire fan base are completely different? I remember a few years back when a team brought in a whole new brain trust thinking they’d instantly fix the roster, but it felt like they were just trying to force a square peg into a round hole.
Do you think a specific organizational identity actually travels with the people, or is it mostly just hype to make fans feel better about a transition?
