I’m honestly reaching out to appeal this ban I got, which feels totally unjustified since it was flagged as spam.
I wasn't spamming anyone or anything; I literally just asked a single question within a thread.
The thing is, Sauron basically flooded my entire thread with junk and started tearing into me like I was some clueless kid trying to play around with Linux distros.
I didn't start the topic to brag, either—I actually wanted to offer some guidance to others navigating the Gentoo community. And for the record, I'm not some novice; I work as a security developer within the Gentoo ecosystem and have authored four different security scripts.
Honestly, great job on the "advanced user" forum modeling here. Seriously, kudos to the mods.
Just take a look at how much actual spam is floating around elsewhere on the site.
It seems like certain users in that subforum can get away with anything, while others get banned without any real cause. Is this really supposed to be a civilized community?
It feels more like a dog-eat-dog hierarchy. I haven't forgotten my ban, by the way, especially since you guys are running a Linux environment when security is literally my field of expertise...
Go ahead, ban me again if you want, I don't really care... but you might want to hold onto my IP address; you're going to need it eventually.
