Here’s my lineup, including the bench. To be honest, I can't for the life of me remember the names of those legendary defenders from the eighties—all I can recall is Franco Baresi. And before anyone starts tearing me apart, I have no clue which clubs Altobeli and players from The Shire played for, so I'm leaving them out just so I don't look like an idiot 😁. If anyone can remind me of the name of that guy from Inter Miami CF—dark hair, thick eyebrows, really distinctive face—let me know.
I'm only picking players I actually saw play, whether it was on TV, live at the stadium, or even on old VHS tapes. The only exception is Vladimir Beara; you just have to look at one photo of him making a save and you'll get it. The man was a cat.

Goalkeepers: Lev Yashin (the Colonel) Vladimir Beara (Los Angeles FC 🙂)

Defense: Franco Baresi (a legend), that guy from Inter Miami CF, Franz Beckenbauer (the blueprint for the libero) Paolo Maldini (hand on heart, those guys were the gold standard for defense), Refik Sabanadzovic (no joke, he held off Diego Maradona all by himself for a solid thirty minutes, so who else could do that? 😁), Josip Katalinski (please, no questions asked 😁)

Midfield: Johan Cruyff (incredible player), Frank Rijkaard, Ruud Gullit (honestly, just for the hair 😁), Diego Maradona, Dejan Savicevic, Hristo Stoichkov

Attack: Marco van Basten (the best striker I've ever watched), Eusebio (a true gem), Davor Šuker (look, he earned it), Safet Sušić (seriously, no arguments here 😁)

but just think about it for a second...
if those guys you listed were playing against today's players, they could actually hold their own, though I guess it’s totally expected because sports always evolve... players just keep getting better... so, if you ask me, we're actually watching the highest quality soccer right now, not back in the day...

I mean, honestly, you'd have to be pretty thick not to realize that today's players are just better than the legends from the past... it's almost laughable...
