Hey everyone

So, last Tuesday night, I totally misstepped and wrecked my left ankle. It swelled up like a tennis ball immediately, so a buddy had to drive me down to the ER to get it checked out and X-rayed. They put me in a splint right away and told me to come back in a week. My diagnosis on the chart says "avulsion fracture of the lateral malleolus," which basically means a tendon pulled hard enough to snap off a little piece of bone. I’ve just been chilling at home resting, but I went in for my follow-up this past Tuesday. The doctor mentioned I’d be moving into a cast for two weeks, but once they took the splint off, my leg was still incredibly swollen. So, they just put me back in the splint and told me to show up again in another seven days... I'm wondering, is this actually serious? From what I've been reading online, it sounds like a real fracture. And if I do get a cast this coming Tuesday, does that mean I'll be stuck in it for the full two weeks or just one? Also, they did another X-ray during this latest visit, and the report says "no displacement of the fracture"... is that a good sign? This is the first time I've ever dealt with anything like this in my life... :-( Obviously, I'm stuck using crutches right now... though I can technically limp a bit even with the splint on. How long does recovery usually take? Will I need physical therapy or something? Should I be looking for a second opinion or watching out for anything specific?
The only thing I've picked up so far is some Joint fuel from Twin Labs since everyone seems to swear by it for joint recovery... Anything else I should grab?

Thanks in advance for any help or advice you guys have.
