Great, because apparently the trend of walling off everything in sight is really picking up steam. Here’s the latest on yet another record-breaking monstrosity being planned for the border between the USA and Mexico.

(The link provided is actually just a reaction)
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1532432/posts

Seriously, where did all those Western democrats vanish to? The ones who spent years crying about how much poor Germans were suffering because of the Berlin Wall? Where are all the filmmakers who made those tear-jerking movies about families torn apart? And where are the dissidents brave enough to stand up to an inhumane regime? Where are all those Nobel Peace Prizes for dissidents?

They're gone. They played their part and moved on. 🤣

This is the barrier designed to stop illegal immigration, separating two nations. What happened at the Berlin Wall was a completely different story. In the USA, people from Mexico can enter legally if they have the right qualifications for jobs where there's a labor shortage. But back in East Germany, there was simply no way out. 😁

In the USA, Mexicans can come in legally if they actually have the skills for jobs where there's a labor shortage. But back in East Germany, you couldn't get out no matter what. 😁

Yeah, sure, and that wall in Germany was also separating two countries...😁

http://www.nctimes.com/articles/2005..._3211_3_05.txt

Plus, looking at that article above, it’s clear that Mexico is basically just a source of cheap, off-the-books labor. The big argument against the wall isn't about morality—it's that it'll screw over the American economy, which relies heavily on that cheap grunt work.

Isn't that just lovely? 👍

And what's with this whole "getting out" phrase? Isn't it the exact same thing when someone wants to "get out" of Latin America to find a better life? That's exactly what those Germans were trying to do when they scaled the wall, right?

Sure, the 100 people who died there is a problem, but the 10,000 people dying on the USA Mexico border? No big deal. That's just democracy, capitalism, and freedom in action...

You’re overlooking the most obvious point: it is entirely possible to enter the USA from Mexico through legal channels. In East Germany, there was absolutely no way out. I suppose a wall might actually be the most efficient solution; maybe they should just install watchtowers every 500 yards and start processing illegal entries more aggressively.

Chloe Palmer2 said:You're missing the big picture here: you can actually go from Mexico into the USA legally. You couldn't get out of East Germany any which way. Honestly, the wall was probably the best fix—maybe they should've just put watchtowers every 500 feet and started shredding the illegals?

Even in East Germany, people could flee to Poland or the Czech Republic... it's the same deal with Mexico; people can head through Panama or Colombia... I'm honestly baffled why they aren't just heading that way.

The whole point is that people were trying to ESCAPE both East Germany and Mexico.

And if you actually bother to read the article, you'll see they're looking for ANOTHER 10,000 people for patrols and stuff... how do you think they stop the immigrants? Do they politely ask nicely? Or maybe they just start shooting?

Alex Martinez5 said:Well, even the Berlin Wall served to divide two different nations...😁

..

The thing is, the wall in Germany was splitting one single nation apart, whereas what they're building here in the States is separating two entirely different countries.

BTW
I suppose I'm not actually surprised by this whole wall construction. If I were in their shoes, I might even build one just to protect my own interests, since the standard of living in America isn't quite what it used to be. It seems like once-untouchable giants like General Motors are teetering on the edge of bankruptcy, and if GM were to actually go under, I imagine a huge chunk of the USA—and maybe even Canada too—would really feel the impact...😉

Alex Martinez5 said:If you actually take the time to dig through that second article provided, you’ll see they’re calling for an additional 10,000 personnel for patrols and stuff like that... but I wonder, how exactly do they plan on stopping immigrants? Do they just ask them nicely? Or maybe they start opening fire?

Can you name even one single state where border agents aren't using force, yet they're still shooting at illegals trying to cross the border?

I can't help but wonder, just how many billions of taxpayer dollars does it cost Americans every year just to maintain the border with Mexico?

Roger Robinson682 said:Name me one single country where border patrol isn't opening fire on illegal migrants trying to cross the line right now.div>

Please... Give me a break. When communist border guards start shooting, suddenly it's a crime, a tragedy, an absolute horror movie worthy of a Nobel Peace Prize. But when capitalist border guards do it? Oh, that’s just fine. That's "defending the demarcation line" and protecting freedom, personal choice, and the whole Western way of life. 🤣

How much do you think it costs Americans every year just to maintain the border with Mexico?????

Let me guess... about the same amount it costs Russians to guard the border with Germany? 😂

Alex Martinez5 said:It’s funny, isn't it? It seems like whenever communist border guards start firing, suddenly it’s a crime, an absolute atrocity, something so heinous it deserves its own movie or even a Nobel Peace Prize... but when capitalist border guards pull the trigger, oh, then it’s all well and good—it’s just defending the demarcation line, protecting freedom, individual choice, and the sanctity of the Western way of life. 🤣

I never actually said any of that...😉

Alex Martinez5 said:Let me guess... is it about as likely as Russia sharing a border with Germany? 😂

😘

Of course it is... 😂

But why aren't they going?

Why would anyone flee from East Germany toward the West if everything was supposedly perfect under socialism and worker self-management?

Chloe Palmer2 said:You’re totally missing the elephant in the room here: people can actually travel from Mexico into the USA through perfectly legal channels. Back in East Germany, you were stuck behind iron curtains with zero way out. Honestly, looking back, maybe that wall was the right call—who knows, maybe they should have just set up guard towers every few hundred yards to deal with the illegal crossings more effectively?

Man, just let this guy be... he's clearly unwell, so let him wallow in his own twisted little world. 🙄

If everything was so perfect under socialism and worker self-management, why were people from East Germany practically sprinting toward the West?

Exactly. So why don't people from Mexico or Guatemala just pack up and head to Brazil, Colombia, or Argentina? Since capitalism, democracy, and a free press are clearly such a blast, right? 🙂

And honestly, why are you still hanging around in this uber-liberal capitalist system that’s basically tearing the USA apart?

If I remember right, there were already barriers in certain spots... maybe now they’ll finally get them all connected, but even then, it won't stop them from becoming a Protestant minority in their own country. Since immigrants are mostly a tight-knit Christian-Catholic group, they're basically the only demographic competition for Muslims based on birth rates.
And that's going to be the deciding factor in whether they let more people from Latin America into their backyard....

And that’s just going to be the tipping point that lets even more people from Latin America into the backyard....

You think Americans are actually going to let themselves become a minority with zero say in how things are run? Like how minorities are treated right now?

No way in hell. Before that happens, there’ll be one, two, three—however many genocides or mass deportations it takes until Protestants hold the majority again. Then, and only then, will they settle things through democracy. Sounds familiar, doesn't it? 😉

Look, I already gave you the answer, but this snowflake just got hit by another rubber band attack... the answer is basically:

- "just to mess with you"

...what else would it be? 🙂

I sometimes find myself wishing we could just build a wall around the USA, similar to how they handled things in the past. Imagine if there were only as many checkpoints as there are actual roads entering the country, with a well-equipped police officer and a customs agent stationed at every single one of them. Wouldn't that provide much more security?

dustypilot22 said:I’d love to see a wall built around the US border, too—just one passage for every single road leading into the country, with a heavily armed cop and a customs agent guarding every single one of them.

Did it ever cross your mind that you're basically suggesting we lock the entire USA in a prison cell? 🙂>

I'd rather talk about how much weight you've put on lately. Honestly, anything else would be more productive.
