Hey everyone!
I wanted to start a thread about a problem that’s been weighing on me for quite a while now, and I’m curious to see if any of you are dealing with something similar. It all comes down to allergies—specifically, my issues with penicillin.
Has anyone else here experienced allergic reactions to other antibiotic groups besides penicillin? Specifically, I’m talking about Zithromax and Keflex.

To give you some background, I’ve been struggling with penicillin since I was a little kid. It actually took a long time for us to figure out that was the exact culprit.
Back then, I would deal with everything from massive blisters and trouble breathing to full-on anaphylactic shock.
On top of that, I frequently run into these smaller, nagging allergic reactions, though I can never pinpoint exactly what triggers them.
Just last year, I had a bad reaction to Zithromax, and then this past summer, Keflex did the same thing to me.
Now, whenever I come down with strep throat or a nasty flu, my doctor is basically at a loss for what to prescribe. 😢

I’d love to hear about your experiences and how you navigate this. 🙂

Hi there. I’ve been allergic to penicillin since I was five years old, and now at twenty-six, I find myself in a bit of a cycle. For years, doctors have just reached for Keflex for just about everything, but I’ve naturally become immune to it; it simply doesn't do the trick anymore. As for Zithromax, I only take it if it's absolutely necessary because it’s incredibly harsh on my system, and I have to wait at least six months between doses. You might want to try Maxine. It didn't sit well with me—it gave me cramps and diarrhea—but perhaps you'll have better luck, as its composition is somewhat similar to Zithromax.
I completely understand where you're coming from. It's frustrating when even a minor illness leaves you stuck because your doctor can't seem to find anything effective to prescribe. It's a total dead end.😢

So, I had a tooth pulled and things went south fast. The dentist put me on Clindamycin, but about 12 hours later, I ended up in the ER. I was completely swollen, bright red, running a fever, and could barely breathe. Honestly, I looked like a budget version of the Hulk—just totally disfigured and puffy.
The doctors there took care of me and got me what I needed, but this whole ordeal has been dragging on for three days now.
I’m feeling a bit better, but here’s my question: how long does it actually take for all this stuff to clear out of my system?
I'm still flushed, and my skin is a mess—it's peeling everywhere, my lips are super dry, and any time I move too much, my body starts itching and the redness flares up... plus, I am just exhausted.
I've been chugging water like it's my job, but I can only drink so much before I feel like I'm going to burst.
I really want to know how to get back to normal and flush all this junk out of my body without relying on more pills, please.

So, is nobody going to say anything?
Give me your stories, please. I honestly feel like I just got run over by a semi-truck.

I truly believe that time—aside from whatever proactive steps the doctors have already implemented—is really the only true remedy here!
It certainly wouldn't hurt at all to supplement with plenty of vitamins and minerals to give the body the fuel it needs to fully regenerate itself.

If you’re already turning down medication right out of the gate—I mean, what kind of help are you actually looking for here, or what exactly do you expect people to suggest?

Honestly, this whole thing just sounds incredibly bizarre to me... Clindamycin has to be taken 3 to 4 times a day because its half-life is so short, so unless they’ve come up with some sort of ultra-extended-release formula that I’m completely unaware of, you shouldn't be having any issues after about 3 or 4 days—assuming you're actually following a proper treatment plan, but if you aren't... then why on earth aren't you?

I’m still stuck on allergy meds, plus I’m cycling through different antibiotics because my doctor says they need to fix some kind of chemical imbalance in my blood
I actually had to go to the ER two days in a row to get hooked up to an IV for some meds,
But here's what's bothering me: today is day five since I went back to work, and I am just completely wiped out. I don't feel like myself at all
Maybe it's the allergy pills—today is actually my last dose—but I'd really love to find a way to help my body recover naturally. Has anyone else dealt with this?
There’s always some trick people swear by that actually works, right?
Like honey or something, though I know certain things can be a bad idea if you're dealing with allergies,
So, I'm just throwing it out there,
