Any good progressive bands?

Can anyone point me toward some solid progressive bands? I’m looking for stuff with plenty of complexity—the more intricate, the better...

Sensient, solid minimal/dark/progressive stuff here. 👍

Aphex Twin works with these incredibly dense, complicated melodic patterns. Honestly, I can't seem to wrap my head around them or memorize them, even after listening for years. If you're looking for a way in, I'd suggest starting with Pulse Demon.

Paradise Lost, Katatonia, Pain of Salvation, Evergrey, Ark... there’s just a massive list here. These are the ones I personally think are absolute killers. Maybe they don't all fit the strict "progressive" label perfectly, but trust me—they're well worth your time!

Personally, I’ve always found myself gravitating toward Evergrey and Dream Theater more than anyone else.😈

Look, there are just way too many subgenres of progressive music to count—you’ve got your prog rock, prog metal, folk-infused stuff (most people probably already suggested bands that fall under those umbrellas), plus you have progressive psy-trance, art rock, and a dozen other things... So, broadly speaking, here are a few of my personal favorites that usually get lumped into specific progressive categories:
- Frank Zappa, Captain Beefheart, Mr. Bungle ((avant-prog meets jazz/rock fusion))
