I’m not exactly a stranger to this forum—I’ve been lurking around since basically 2003—but I haven't been much of an active participant lately, especially over the last couple of years. I really wanted to pop in and see if there are any actual decent people left on here; show yourselves so I know who I'm talking to.

To give you a bit more context:
Jesus said: ''Why do you call me good? There is only one who is good, God.''

So, let's face it, there aren't truly "good" people; we're all pretty flawed, but then again, there are those rare souls who actually seek out the good, even if they make up maybe 0.001% of society. The Bible says it's one in a thousand, and while that's rare, I still believe God provides a woman like that too.

Maybe all those types of people aren't hanging out on this forum, but I’d love to exchange thoughts on the darker side of things currently running the world—the corruption in the church, the rot in society, social issues, the trap of modern slavery, the lack of freedom, and how impossible it feels to live an honest life.

People always say, "just adapt," but for those chosen by God, it's anything but easy; the temptations are massive, and in my case, it's been a grueling struggle for years, yet God still looks after His own and pulls us through.

Personally, I don't think we should be stressing over material wealth, reputations, or status; that's just worldly nonsense, and even Solomon wanted to live as an ordinary man. We need to live modestly and just find a way to survive this mess.

If I had a choice, I’d probably travel back to the Renaissance or to those early biblical communities—or honestly, maybe even back to the old days of the USA (don't judge me) or even modern-day China.
But we're stuck here, so we have to endure.

Anyway, I’ll see how much I can contribute regarding spirituality and faith, though I won't be focusing on organized religion—I'll keep it right here. So, we'll see what happens.
Later.

Perhaps leave the analysis of book quotes to the theologians; there isn't anything spiritual to be found in that kind of literary criticism. What exactly is your question?

It’s all about being oriented toward others, you know? You start to spot those people who genuinely strive to do good, the ones who step up to help just because they can, rather than out of some desperate need for validation. Real goodness comes from the person who makes themselves available to everyone else while simultaneously letting go of their own ego

Honestly, I’m just not feeling this current chapter of life... if I could actually pick my own path, man, I would. But where would I even go? I don't spend much time looking back because the past isn't really my thing, but I can feel it—deep down, I know things were different in those other lives. There was more order back then, more respect for people... whereas today? It's just pure chaos.

I could go on and on about it... but most people just roll their eyes and call it nonsense. So, sometimes it's better to just carry that weight inside and save the real talk for people who actually get it.

And yeah... that whole idea of "searching for what's right," hmm. I started looking for that a few years ago, and I think I'm finally heading in the right direction. I care about rising above this, about actually making progress in this life. I know I wasn't put here just to coast through and enjoy the scenery...

Yeah, that was my whole playbook. I lived for others, focused on the collective good, and ended up taking hits for the team—which, naturally, meant my own social life took a beating too.

But looking back, it's pretty clear to me now that humans are inherently selfish, so I'm officially retired from those kinds of adventures; I've secured my own peace and quiet.

Anyway, I just spent a few hours scrolling through this subforum to see what's what, and I bumped two threads back to life just to chime in.

I haven't stumbled onto anything particularly "spiritual" yet; you've got the moderator acting like a big shot, and then everyone else just hunting for answers and some higher purpose.

A lot of this stuff doesn't even have much to do with spirituality, so I honestly can't wrap my head around what people are actually doing here, but hey, to each their own... I wish everyone luck and the strength to stick to their guns.

Yeah, honestly, if we’re being realistic about it, humanity really did fall. You can look at that whole story from the Bible about Eden as a symbol—it was that specific moment when we chose our own selfish desires over everything else, effectively kicking ourselves out of paradise and trading true connection for this mess we call modern life. Even the figure of Lucifer can be seen as a reflection of us, right? Just a fallen angel who was obsessed with carving out his own version of perfection, wanting to sit at the top and have the whole world serve him. So, it makes sense that in this current stage of existence, people default to being selfish; our entire way of living is just centered on "me," which is the exact opposite of what actual good looks like, since goodness is always oriented toward others.

But what I find genuinely fascinating is the idea that we’re all born with this inherent blueprint of goodness tucked away inside us, like some kind of fundamental law woven into our very DNA. It’s as if there's this internal image of heaven etched into our souls. Is that actually our ultimate destination—the final evolution of our spirits—or is it just a necessary contrast? Like, maybe we need to carry that seed of goodness within us while being tossed into this broken, chaotic world, just so we can experience the friction of how easily everything tries to corrupt us and turn us into something ugly?

(And regarding the spirituality side of things, I think you're spot on. This forum isn't anything other than a perfect mirror of humanity exactly as it is.)

Job in the Bible says it’s better to have never been born at all, and honestly, I feel that. Thank God I don't have kids to watch suffer through this mess; these days, an honest person can barely hold onto a job, let alone find one,

Then you've got the other side claiming, "your reward in heaven will be great." Look, life is a gift you actually have to earn. Let the hardships come; if we head toward God, He'll meet us halfway. Suffering is just part of the deal—even Jesus suffered, so we should follow our teacher's lead and endure it too.

As for those people celebrating Christmas? They might as well be worshipping Satan.

ps
I actually got flagged in the religion section just for posting a link to a decent forum, and I even got a warning about my signature where I had "ancient radio" listed.
I guess I'll just stay out of the fray more often.
Otherwise, these forums are getting way too restrictive—and it's not just this one, it's the whole "system."

Go ahead then, friend. This isn't a place for cowards, and as you pointed out, there is a reward waiting for you in heaven. I will remember you this Christmas while listening to Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart 🙂

A lot of this stuff doesn't even have much to do with spirituality, so I honestly can't wrap my head around what people are actually doing here, but hey, to each their own... I wish everyone luck and the strength to stick to their guns.

So, I've been out here searching for something good, just kind of reflecting on things, you know? Just one of those random thoughts hitting me.

So, I was thinking about this thing from the Bible earlier—you know, how it describes God as being jealous? It’s such an interesting concept when you really sit with it for a second. I mean, it's kind of a wild way to frame things, right? Just a thought that's been rattling around in my head.

So, you're saying that people are just inherently bad by nature—which, I mean, I guess I could probably dive a bit deeper into how I landed on that conclusion if you really want to get into it—but then you look at the state of the world today and... well, just look at this mess:

I guess you could say being human is kind of like being "thrown" into existence—nobody exactly checked with us first to see if we actually wanted to show up, right?

So, look, we’re all here trying to find our footing and carve out a space for ourselves, mostly because most people aren't exactly wired for masochism, right? I mean, let's be real—most of us aren't out here chasing fame or trying to become the next big CEO just for the sake of ego. Most people are just trying to live a decent, normal life on this planet. But even when you're just trying to exist peacefully, life tends to throw some stuff at you. It's like, you're just cruising along, and then you run into these things:

It feels like everyone is just constantly clashing with one another in every way imaginable. I mean, honestly, a huge chunk of people across America are basically just fighting tooth and nail over tiny scraps of land or whatever resources they can grab just to keep food on the table and stay afloat. It’s kind of heavy when you think about it, I guess. I guess I’ve been stuck in these deep, existential headspace loops lately... just thinking about life and everything. It’s one of those things that hits you out of nowhere, you know? One minute you're fine, and the next, you're staring at the ceiling wondering what any of this actually means. Maybe it's just me being overly dramatic, but sometimes the big questions feel a little heavy. I mean, honestly, we can't really call that kind of thing "charity" or "kindness." It’s just not right to frame it that way. Think about it—so many incredible artists, brilliant scientists, and those unsung heroes who shaped our world didn't have it easy. They weren't just handed a living; they were forced by circumstance to grind and hustle just to survive. It was necessity, plain and simple, not some grand act of generosity. I guess when you look at it that way, calling it "goodness" feels a bit off, maybe even a little misplaced.

I don't know, it feels like death is just lurking around every corner lately, you know? Like, one minute you're fine, and the next, sickness hits or you're dealing with that soul-crushing boredom that comes from having zero opportunities because of poverty. It makes you start questioning if any of this even matters. And then there’s the whole thing with physical desires... I mean, nobody asks for those, right? You're just born with them, whether you want them or not. It seems like people everywhere are just constantly battling these basic struggles. Even the weather—the atmosphere itself—really messes with how our bodies feel and honestly, probably even how much we can actually focus or learn on any given day. It’s heavy stuff. And then there's the darker side of survival, where we have to basically destroy or change nature just to put food on the table... I guess even the most extreme stuff, like cannibalism, isn't entirely out of the question in the grand scheme of things. It’s no wonder people are scared to have kids these days. I mean, if you can barely scrape by yourself, how are you supposed to give a child a decent life? People are too wrapped up in these massive existential anxieties to even enjoy the little things. Everything feels so high-stakes. Even when it comes to the consequences of our actions—whether it's a full-blown war or just some stupid argument with a neighbor—the connection between what we do and what happens next feels so blurry. We're constantly second-guessing ourselves, forced to watch others get torn apart, either figuratively or, well, literally. And then you add in all the different moral codes, religions, and cults... there are just so many ways to look at the world, and honestly, it's overwhelming. There's no clear roadmap. It feels like these endless hardships are just forcing us to... well, I guess I'll stop there. It's a lot to process. I guess I'm just looking around, trying to find something... maybe? Not sure what I'm searching for yet, honestly. Just kind of browsing. It’s like... there's this higher purpose to everything, I guess. It’s not something you just stumble upon all at once, either. It sort of reveals itself to you, slowly, as you go along. Maybe that's just how it works.GodSo, what I'm trying to get at is... how can people actually be "good"—you know, like truly recognized as good people—when they're living within systems that are just fundamentally broken? Like, how do you find those little pockets of goodness or manage to stay upright during the pauses between all the absolute chaos and messiness of life? I guess it’s about finding those moments of grace when everything else is falling apart.

I guess I actually see things the complete opposite way. If you ask me, people are pretty much good at heart by nature, you know? It’s just that life tends to throw so much crap at us—it can be so forced and honestly just plain unsatisfying sometimes. People end up searching for answers and trying to find a way out of the mess, but... They just don't get it, I guess. I mean, it’s just human nature to mess up and end up disappointed, you know? We all fall into those same old patterns and bad habits. I wouldn't go so far as to say people are inherently evil, though. It feels more like the world itself—or Mother Nature, or even God, if you want to look at it that way—is just set up that way. But then you get into the tricky stuff. If God is jealous and goes around punishing people just because they actually enjoy being alive, then what does that even say about the whole concept of a higher power? Or the idea of freedom and goodness? I guess if we don't actually have the freedom to choose our own path, then nobody is truly "good." We're all just doing whatever we think is best in the moment to survive. It’s a bit of a head-scratcher, really.

It feels like people just don't know much anymore, you know? Awareness is pretty low, and honestly, I feel like the ability for folks to actually step up and help one another isn't exactly where it needs to be. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like we're all kind of stuck in our own little bubbles lately. I mean, if you really think about it, that whole thread of just trying to be a decent human being... it kind of stretches back through all of history, doesn't it? It’s like this constant, ongoing effort that we've always been making. I guess you could say it's woven into everything we've ever done. Despite all the threats from religious fanatics and those endless cycles of violence between different groups... I don't know, it honestly impresses me how many quiet, unassuming people out there just try their best to live an honest life. At least, it does for me. But then again, most people just go through life without ever really knowing the truth. Personally, I don't see inherent evil in people. I think it’s more about that struggle—that inability to reconcile personal beliefs and conflicting views. It’s like they can't find a way to bridge the gap, and then things just spiral, and you end up with people losing their minds or getting caught up in chaos. Maybe that's just how it is.

I hear you, and I get where you're coming from,
when it comes to sickness, personally, death doesn't scare me—it’s actually a win in my book—and I figure God is the one calling the shots on health issues anyway,
the truth is, people today are basically conditioned to stay childless, just like me, because let's face it: it's nearly impossible to provide for a family when you can barely afford to feed yourself—we've become totally disconnected from the land and nature, raised and shaped by an unnatural lifestyle where the cost of living is just way too high.
We need to ground ourselves, but don't let anyone else drag you down; remember, "a person's worth is immeasurable."

People back in the Middle Ages didn't have water heaters, gas furnaces, or washing machines... yet they still had kids ☕
So, people should be able to have children today regardless of whether they live in a sprawling mansion or a tiny house heated by a wood stove
Having kids isn't about your assets—it's about being a decent, functional human being
...though, let's be honest, people weren't always "functional" in the past either, and they still had children

In my view... everyone ought to have children, no matter what
Because that’s how it has always been, and that's simply how nature works
Suffering?
Suffering is a relative concept
If a child in a developing nation is suffering right now
Well, what of it... at least other children aren't suffering
It's just a fact
It's better if only some suffer, rather than everyone
Once we're all suffering together, then we'll really have a problem
I'm being a bit blunt, but I'm being smart too 😂

Honestly, if I were to get married and have kids, all I'd really be doing is making my own life harder,
back when things were simpler—whether you lived out in the suburbs or even just moved to the West Coast—it wouldn't have been such a struggle. But the problem is I was raised with actual values, and now, ever since the 90s, everyone from local politicians to foreign corporations treats us like nothing more than cattle stuck in a system designed to grind us down.

Are you really feeling that strongly about it?

I can't help but wonder if our arrival here is actually the result of some deep soul-level free will, where we specifically chose this exact life before we even got here.

Fair enough, haha 👍 but I rarely lose my temper... so, fundamentally, I'm a good person.
Wait a minute... I think I heard somewhere that bad people always claim they're good. 😲 So what does that mean for me? Am I actually good or not? 😕

But that isn't fair. If that were the case, we should have a record of what the soul said and when it said it... like a notarized contract with an official seal and everything.
Just so we could sue someone whenever things don't go our way...
Good grief, you're too much... 😂

Hard times and crappy circumstances are just excuses for people to be even worse. Real good people stay good, even when everything is falling apart.

Amy Scott71 said:Yeah, that was my whole playbook.

No, people are naturally good.

Look, just pose this question to yourselves and see where you land: is a person actually "good" because they go out of their way to do good things, or are they "good" simply because they manage to avoid doing any harm?
