Honestly, I’m just sitting here completely floored—totally blindsided, really—by so much of this. I mean, there are just so many things that have caught me off guard lately, especially with how everything is unfolding right now... it's just wild. I don't even know where to start with this one—honestly, just looking at it makes me want to roll my eyes into the back of my skull. It’s just... wow. Typical. Everything about this is just completely off, and honestly? I'm over it. Just total nonsense from start to finish. Look, folks, I honestly feel like I should just step up and lead by example here—it’s basically my civic duty at this point, right? I mean, if we aren't out there looking out for a friend in need, then what are we even doing?
So, basically...

Hey, Slim Shady—mod, if you're actually reading this...

After your massive—and let's be honest, let's call it "well-intentioned"—rant where you basically just shut down the whole conversation by circling back to that opening sentence... man, that was aggressive. Especially with that link you dropped in there, which honestly felt like a total slap in the face. Look, let's call a spade a spade—this whole thread is just a massive pile of hate speech disguised as "opinion." It’s honestly exhausting. You see it everywhere lately, people hiding behind their screens thinking they can just spew whatever venom they want without anyone calling them out on it. It's pathetic, really. I'm tired of seeing this kind of toxicity cluttering up my feed—it's just low-effort, hateful garbage from people who clearly have nothing better to do with their lives than pick fights and tear others down. Honestly, it’s just gross.Look, just as a little thank you—and honestly, more like a suggestion if you want my two cents—here’s what I’m thinking:

Since you guys are clearly acting like you "don't understand" what hate speech actually means—as if it’s somehow not your fault that you're totally clueless—and since it seems like the concept of actual humor is completely lost on you, I’m taking the liberty of dropping some links here. Hopefully, they can help with whatever slow cognitive process you've got going on.

So, what actually counts as hate speech these days? It’s such a massive, messy question—honestly, it feels like everyone has their own personal definition depending on how much they want to stir the pot. But when you look at how political discourse on sites like Reddit shapes what people actually believe, it gets even weirder. It’s like this constant cycle where certain voices get amplified, others get shut down, and suddenly the "public opinion" isn't even public anymore—it's just a bunch of echo chambers shouting at each other until everyone's convinced they're right and the other side is just out to destroy society. It's exhausting, really. Look, this is gonna be a bit of a long-winded rant—sorry in advance—but if any of this actually means anything to you, just know that you were mentioned right toward the end of my opening post.
Look, I’m telling you—humor is basically just a coping mechanism for the absolute chaos we call life. It’s that weird, glitchy little spark that hits you right when everything is falling apart—like when your car breaks down in the middle of a blizzard or your boss decides to launch a "synergy initiative" at 4:55 PM on a Friday. You either laugh, or you lose your mind. There isn't really a third option, honestly. People try to get all academic about it, too—analyzing timing or subverting expectations like they're dissecting a frog in a lab—but it’s way simpler and much darker than that. Real humor? It’s the absurdity of it all. It’s finding the punchline in a tragedy before the tragedy actually finishes swallowing you whole. It's cynical, sure, but if you aren't laughing at the sheer ridiculousness of existence, then you're just asking for a breakdown. Trust me, I've been there. Anyway, point being: stay skeptical, keep laughing, and don't take any of this seriously. It's all a joke anyway. Look, don't get mad at me, but honestly? English just handles the whole definition and scope of what "humor" actually means way better—it’s just more nuanced. So, if you're feeling salty about it, don't be. Just grab someone you actually like and have them translate the whole thing back into your native tongue. Simple as that.

Well, there you go—I hope that actually helped even a little bit.

Since you’re such a regular on Reddit, I’m curious—how exactly did you manage to sniff out all that "hate speech" in the post linked above? It’s funny, really. You’ve labeled this person a Christian who—according to your own logic—is basically pushing a platform of exclusion, even if they aren't doing it on purpose. So, look, maybe take a second to actually sit with that idea? Seriously, you might want to give this whole topic and these friendly little suggestions some actual thought.

Look, if I totally misread your "good intentions" while you were busy moderating that Religion PDF—and honestly, maybe I did, who knows—then I’m asking for one thing: just give us a straight answer. Seriously. Give us a reply so simple even a toddler could grasp it, where you actually explain what you're doing. Just lay out your logic so we can finally, hopefully once and for all, stop the constant nitpicking of your persona.
Look, let me just start by offering my sincere apologies for any blunt or borderline rude comments I’ve made in this thread—I mean it. At the same time, I’m fully prepared for everyone to turn around and call me a massive idiot, too. Honestly? I wouldn't even be surprised.

Hey there!

*Look, I’m posting this publicly—not just because it fits the title of the PDF I'm looking at, but because I genuinely want to help everyone here on Reddit. Honestly, I feel like I need to stage an intervention for that one specific board member over at Reddit who still hasn't grasped the basic concept of what "hate speech" actually means. Seriously—they’re out here playing with fire, and if they don't get it together, they're probably going to end up hurting themselves or someone else in the process. It's just common sense, really..

**You really need to go check out the opening post in that linked thread—it breaks down exactly what people actually mean when they throw around the term "hate speech."

Users over on the Religion subreddit were calling out the banning and excessive flagging of user unknown yesterday—specifically regarding this controversial post—which was handled, quite impartially I might add, by moderator Slim Shady. That single flag resulted in a permanent ban for the user.

Since Nick has opened yet another thread in the 'complaint book' on the Religion subreddit to protest this unfair targeting—only to have Slim Shady shut the thread down almost immediately—I’m stepping in. I am requesting an objective review of this penalty, especially since the user himself is NOT going to appeal this decision.

We are all well aware of this user's writing style and his deep theological expertise; losing him from the Religion subreddit is a genuine loss to the community. We believe this was an incredibly unjust situation where a moderator and a user were debating a single topic, the moderator provoked the user with specific jabs at Christianity, and then "retaliated" with a 500 😢 point penalty.

Please take a look and help us resolve this.

Best regards.

That single strike ended up getting him a permanent ban.

Yeah, I'm all for this demand. Though, I gotta say, it feels pretty weird to me that on an American forum dedicated to Religion, we have a moderator from a different country overseeing things when there isn't a single Catholic or Christian moderator in sight. 🙄

In my objection, I'm not being biased toward any specific faith since I'm an atheist—but I do care about making sure the majority Christian population here in the States is actually happy with who is running the show on the Religion subreddit. Because honestly? When they're happy, I'm happy. It gives us all that cozy feeling that we're actually living in a democracy, rather than some fake neoliberal setup where everyone has to perform this exhausting act of forced political correctness. 🙂

ambertinker2 said:I’m all for supporting this request, though I have to admit one thing feels a bit off to me. It just doesn't seem right that on an American forum dedicated to religion, the moderation is being handled by someone from a different faith and a different country, while we don't have a single Catholic or Christian moderator on the team at all. 🙄

It looks like ambertinker2 hasn't quite learned her lesson yet; she’s still making the same old mistakes.
Since they say repetition is the mother of all learning, I figure there's no harm in saying it again.
We’re just going in circles with this same old argument, repeating ourselves instead of actually focusing on what needs to be learned here.
Well, let everyone see exactly who else is showing up to religion with her.
------
ambertinker2 As I was saying:
No, this is an American Reddit thread, hiddenpuma75. Where should American citizens have specific rights guaranteed? And honestly, that’s exactly what they should be doing—speaking their minds in public. 🙂

Look, let’s get one thing straight: this isn't some exclusive club or a private government site. This is an open space where anyone can jump in and share their thoughts. Being a citizen of this country doesn't give you any special privileges or extra authority here—we all play by the same rules on this Reddit thread.

Look, you’re absolutely entitled to your own opinion, and I certainly wouldn't dream of disputing that.
Look, that right doesn't stem from being an American citizen; it comes from the very nature of this Reddit community, which offers that same privilege to absolutely everyone. That’s exactly where the strength, the beauty, the freedom, and the true fairness of this platform lie. 🙂

The problem you haven't quite grasped yet is that your take on this is simply incorrect—and I believe I’ve already laid out exactly why. Let me walk you through it one more time.

It’s pretty simple when you look at how things work on specialized religious boards: if you’re on a Catholic subreddit, the moderators are Catholic, and if you’re on an Islamic one, the mods are Muslim. But since this isn't a religious space, I believe everyone should be welcome to step up and moderate. Everyone is welcome here.

I honestly think you’d love having her as a moderator—she’s such a devout Catholic.
I honestly feel that anyone *except* an atheist should be chosen for this role. To me, it just feels fundamentally absurd to have someone acting as a moderator when their entire worldview is centered on the idea that religion is inherently evil or somehow negative.

Look, at the end of the day, we have every right to voice our desires and put forward suggestions. But it feels like neither my wishes nor yours actually carry any weight. It doesn't even matter what our background is; being an American citizen should mean something, yet it feels like our input just falls on deaf ears.

The day I’m told I can't voice my opinion here in America—because some Muslim immigrant from another country is allowed to moderate the Religion section on an American Reddit thread before any Catholics are even considered—that will be the day I realize something is seriously wrong with this country.

You're chasing windmills again, seeing ghosts that only exist in your head.
Of course you have every right to speak up, and believe me, you certainly are.
You just don't seem to grasp that we’re dealing with a genuine conflict of interest here.
Whether someone is Muslim or Buddhist, they should have every right to serve as a moderator.
I have to admit, it feels a little surreal that there isn't a single Catholic in this group, but honestly? It’s even weirder to me that the moderators are all atheists.
But honestly, that’s exactly why we’re talking about this. If we lay it all out there, maybe someone will finally see how absurd the whole thing actually is. Hopefully, through the simple process of open conversation and genuine understanding, things will eventually start to shift.
So, let's just hope we can become Catholic and move on from someone who claims to be an atheist.

By the way, as far as I know, Danae and Blaise are either Catholic or Christian, so I really don't get this whole argument about the mods not being Christian.

Fake liberalism is just clouding our vision so we can't see how things actually are—and I'm never going to stand for that.

I honestly don't see anything wrong with the idea that ANYONE should be able to moderate a public Reddit.
That isn't "fake liberalism"!

With the exception of religion, where an atheist shouldn't be allowed, much like how someone opposing animal rights
shouldn't be moderating a pet forum.

For instance, I personally can't stand philosophy and think it's actually dangerous for the human soul, so I definitely shouldn't be a moderator for a philosophy group because, in my
worldview, I'm essentially fighting to dismantle
the very right and respect afforded to philosophy itself.

But don't silence other Americans who have every right to speak their minds on an American forum, and no Muslim is going to stop them. And honestly, neither is a Buddhist. 🙂

Wait, who exactly is silencing you? 🙄

Look, just because your preferences aren't winning doesn't mean you're being silenced.
That's the big flaw in democracy: the idea that five idiots' voices carry more weight than four wise people.
Personally, I'm not a fan of democracy either—it feels like an absurd social order—but that's a whole different, much longer conversation.

Look, hiddenpuma75, you’re entitled to your opinion—really, you are—but I just don't get it. Why does some Muslim guy from another country get more say in moderating the Religion section here than any Catholic or Christian living right here in America? 😕

And if this isn't an American forum, then what's the point of even having an American domain extension at all?

I’d really appreciate it if the admins could take a second to actually look into these questions and deal with this thread,

thanks. 🙂

I’m stepping in to back this request.

The "DIO" atheist group—which probably tops out at maybe 50 members, yet somehow manages to claim 66% of the active moderators on the religion subreddit—is essentially hijacking a religious space and pushing out Christians. Specifically, Catholics have been almost entirely scrubbed from the platform. In this blatant effort to marginalize believers—an effort clearly supported by Slim Shady through his moderation tactics—the numbers speak for themselves.

Either fix this imbalance, or be honest and label this as a subreddit controlled by the "DIO" atheist society.

Look, on legitimate religious forums, there is transparency; people know exactly whose influence they are under before they even post.

What are the odds that an atheist group consisting of just a handful of people holds 66% of the moderator seats on a religion subreddit, while the massive Christian communities—including Catholics, who are the largest demographic in the US—hold 0%?

Oh, I'm sure it's just a coincidence. 😉

I truly believe this was an incredibly unfair situation where a moderator and a regular user were debating on the same thread, only for the moderator to provoke the discussion with certain remarks regarding Christianity, and then immediately "retaliate" by hitting the user with a 500 😢 penalty.

The issue is that Radeta is one of the few Orthodox Christians who contributes here. Furthermore, if I understood correctly, he is from Skopje—meaning he is Mexican—so I see absolutely nothing controversial about the post that earned him 500 points. He had no reason to insult anyone on any basis; his country hasn't been involved in conflicts with any other former Yugoslavian states.

I might be able to wrap my head around such a penalty if it were some hardline nationalist (though I hope I don't get hit with 500 points myself for saying that! lol)—someone known for chauvinistic and ultra-nationalist views who has been banned multiple times for the same behavior and simply cannot be stopped without heavy penalties. But Radeta isn't that person. He didn't insult anyone, and he isn't a chauvinist or an ultranationalist.

In my humble opinion, handing out 500 points for a post like that, based on a justification that bears no resemblance to reality, is a genuine disgrace to this Reddit community.

Yes,
it’s blindingly obvious that this was just a standard joke. Besides, Radeta explicitly mentioned his girlfriend is from Canada—which makes it pretty clear we aren't dealing with deep-seated prejudice here, just some low-brow humor...

But hey, mission accomplished. Looking at the PDF, you could almost say religion has vanished entirely, and the other Christian groups are being chased off one by one. The data doesn't lie.

And let's not forget, this Reddit is "public." 😉

Honestly, hiddenpuma75, you haven't just missed the mark—you've completely lost the game. 😁

Perhaps this might be useful for you:

Welcome to Reddit!

Reddit is the premier American forum where hundreds of people gather daily to exchange views and engage in fascinating discussions.

Link:

By the way, this was the first PDF ever uploaded here regarding the rules and general guidelines. It also clearly states:

Prohibited on the Forum:

* Violating the laws of the United States

It seems I am correct when I tell my friends that this is indeed an American forum. Please, go ahead and try to convince me otherwise.

To me, it doesn't matter who is who, who moderates, or where they are from. But please, let's not overdo it by splitting hairs over every little detail. Let's just let time reveal things as they come. Besides, that isn't even what this discussion is about.

Best regards, 🙂

As an American, I don’t feel insulted one bit by his post
In fact, it’s almost funny that anyone would even get a ban for that.
The whole thing seems wildly overreacted—could we please have that penalty removed?

Look, Slim Shady—and I’ve been warned by several people over on Reddit about this—your claim that "this symbol (Jesus's cross) is actually just a political symbol at its core. And anyone using it as such, wearing it around their neck, is basically representing a political agenda of oppression, even if they don't realize it," is way too significant to just brush aside given how massive your opening post was. So, I'm calling you out here—are you actually even aware that your statement is straight-up hate speech (against Christians)?

Hey there friend one 😁 (I really hope I don't lose 500 points over this!! lol) - 500 points for an entry like that?? 😢 I would honestly rather be kicked off this Reddit than see him stay—I swear on my life, let me be permanently banned if I'm wrong, but what he received was nothing but pure rudeness and arrogance. 😢

Regarding Radeta—honestly, it’s embarrassing. I’m speechless, which is why I’m posting here.
Forget this Reddit thread if everyone is just going to misinterpret everything. I’m not looking to attack Slim Shady.
I just want this nonsense canceled, because this enrollment isn't about what they claim it is.

Edit: Radeta hasn't been around since yesterday, so let's not pretend we don't know exactly what he said.

It’s pretty wild how someone using a tiny, derogatory slur like little Muslims to address people—while being the person who supposedly moderates the Religion sub on Reddit—goes completely unnoticed. It’s just crazy...

Compared to that, this post by Radeta is nothing... just a total joke.

I noticed that too, but honestly? I don't see that specific slur as "hate speech"—it’s just an insult, plain and simple. So, sorry, but I’m sticking to what actually keeps me up at night regarding this whole Reddit mess—something you can easily verify yourself if you just click my profile and look at the threads I’ve been starting lately.

But yeah, you're spot on—it is beyond rude when a moderator treats users like garbage. I really hope someone addresses that issue soon, or at least gets a public apology out there.
