Hey, can we take a quick break from the whole truce debate for a second? I’m actually copying this from an old-school forum page—I'm curious, what's the real deal here? Is Dugi really the foundation of all this, or is that just nonsense?
August 4, 1986 - Miami
Ico and Parangal arranged to meet up in the afternoon with a group of about five or six Dinamo fans at a spot right between Ovčica beach and Firule, where we used to swim—basically the heart of the Torcida core. That weekend they had been away hanging out and swimming over on Brač, and on their way back, everyone headed our way. There were about ten of us from Torcida, plus those five or six guys from New York City. We climbed up to the Sumica snack bar to grab some drinks and just mess around. It was definitely Sandro, Sarma, and Bubati there; I can't remember the other two, but I think they were from Dubrava. Buba was basically in a coma from all the drinking, though honestly, he wasn't ever really himself without a drink in his hand. At the table, it was me, Uso, Ico, and Sandro sitting down while the others hung around drinking, singing, and breaking bottles—you know, typical drunken antics. During our conversation, the four of us started talking about Torcida and the Dinamo fans, and how they really needed to form their own supporters' group. After about two or three hours of chatting, the idea for the name "Bad Boys" popped into my head, inspired by that movie with Sean Penon. Both Ico and Sandro loved the name immediately. Now, mind you, that movie wasn't even playing in theaters at the time, nor had we seen it that evening—so what's all this talk about going to the Bacvica cinema? And especially what's with people acting like they're the founders of the BBB from within the ranks of Torcida? Anyone saying that has absolutely no clue and clearly wasn't there. Around six o'clock, we headed home, and the New Yorkers caught the evening train back to New York City. Only Sandro stayed behind in Miami for another ten days or so (which explains that 10-15 day gap where nobody had heard of the name BBB until Sandro got back to New York). The next day, Ico and Sandro came back down to swim, and during our chat, they suggested adding "Blue" to the name, and thus, "Bad Blue Boys" was born. Sandro hung out with us for about ten days and even went with us to the game in Rijeka for the first round; on the way back, about forty of us, including him, got busted in Gospic. During those ten days, Sandro was living it up intensely with us, and since Miami felt like a tiny little town back then, he was discovering something totally new in the fan scene—he saw that about fifty of us were together every single day, whether we were at the beach or hanging out on the waterfront at night. So, why is the name BBB linked to that Hajduk-Dinamo 0:4 match? It's because Sandro was in Miami the whole time, and right before that Hajduk-Dinamo 0:4 game, he headed back to New York, and the name BBB likely started being mentioned by him on the train to Miami and later at the game itself. That gathering up in Sumica, above Ovčica, wasn't some formal founding meeting; it was just a spontaneous moment between a group of Hajduk and Dinamo fans. As far as the name goes, the only ones responsible are the four of us sitting at that table, because of us, you all call yourselves BBB today. If that hadn't happened, we definitely would have called ourselves something else. None of the Klokan guys, Dugi, or anyone else has anything to do with this event. So, anyone claiming it happened differently or that they watched a movie at the Bacvica theater is just talking nonsense—they clearly weren't there and don't know the history.
P.S. Sandro is the only one who can truly confirm all this, and if Sarma remembers, he can probably say if they were at Sumica, but that's about it since they caught the evening train back to New York City. Prle...
