There’s no bigger mistake than debuting new songs during a "big" game when the stadium is packed way beyond the usual crowd.
It never works out.

Man, this has been going on for decades... honestly, whenever I think back to those cringey old chants like "play, play, squeeze, squeeze," I just want to facepalm. 😵

I mean, when we're playing at our Home Arsenal, we should be going hard for at least half an hour, just celebrating Dynamo being champions!

Though, if I'm being honest, the band always seems to take a backseat to the crowd shouting in the streets... ☕

it almost always backfires.

Everything really comes down to the song itself. If you have a killer rhythm and solid rhymes that stick in your head, people will pick it up fast. If stadium capacity was actually the deciding factor in whether fans learn a new chant, then huge crowds following Italian or German soccer clubs with 10,000-plus regulars would never manage to introduce anything new, but we know that isn't how it works.

If the beat is right, and you pair it with smart lyrics and smooth, clever rhymes, the song catches on within just a few matches. 😉

If we're talking about playing at our Home Arsenal, it probably takes about half an hour just to get things moving, assuming you're only cheering for Dynamo...

Mind you, the brass section has always taken a backseat to the noise from the street outside.☕

The Truth is, unfortunately, this is how it is. But that doesn't mean we're stuck like this, because change is absolutely possible—in fact, it's necessary. 😉 Great rhythms and solid songs are what actually draw new fans into the stadium in the first place, since real cheering is about the music, not just mindless screaming.

Last year during the big derby, the leaders worked together way better, though even this year wasn't bad overall, aside from those hiccups. It’s a shame we didn't get any new songs.

Look, I was right there in the middle, so my take is based on the crowd immediately surrounding me. I can't speak for how things looked from the sidelines, but honestly, there were several moments where you could hear this weird two-part harmony happening—mostly because people just aren't following the drums and are singing "from memory." For instance, when we do that "I love Dynamo (clap) I love Dynamo (clap)... I love them so much" bit, instead of everyone hitting their hands in sync with the drum beat, one section hits a second too early or a second too late... they're just not listening. It sounds ridiculous—you shouldn't have two different rhythms clashing on such a slow song. Plus, people try to rush through the lyrics like they're just trying to get the song over with. Personally, I think "Viju se na zastave" sounded the best, simply because you can't rush it, and it ends up sounding much more powerful that way. All in all, it was a good vibe, but there's definitely room to grow—and I truly believe the group is talented enough to make it sound even tighter next time.👍

You aren't listening. Numbers aren't the issue. The issue is when you have 500 people showing up for most of the season, and then suddenly 5,000 show up for the big rivalry game. It’s obvious those who skip the smaller matchups won't know the chants. Half the derby ends in a mumble. For this to actually work, that turnout needs to be consistent, and it just isn't.

Robert Cooper60 said:You aren't catching my drift. It isn't about the raw numbers; the issue is when you have maybe 500 people showing up consistently for six months, and then suddenly 5,000 roll in for one big rivalry game. Naturally, that massive crowd of casuals who don't bother with the smaller matchups won't have a clue what's going on, and half the anthem is lost in a sea of mumbling. For everything to run smoothly, that turnout would need to be steady, but we all know that's not how it works.

Fair enough, that's true. I might have exaggerated by saying a song could stick after just a couple of games, but give it six weeks and it's there. Once you hear it on YouTube, see it in the stands, and feel the energy of the crowd, the rhythm and lyrics sink in. If the beat is solid and the words hit hard, people pick it up fast. That’s just how it goes.

A city that produced the grit, the chaos, and the intense brotherhood we see in the stands also has a street culture with real rhymes and actual substance. I'm not suggesting the stands should turn into a rap concert, 😁, but the streets of an American city like Chicago or Philly have always had a way with words, and that’s exactly what needs to translate to the stands. We've had enough of those thousand different variations of "I love my team." Our streets have rhymes that actually carry weight.

Later.

Man, those drums were absolutely insane. It’s wild how just a killer drum beat can turn a two-word "song" into something huge...
That moment when the drums went absolutely ballistic during Kill the Cargo was easily the highlight of the whole game for me.
Seriously, if the rhythm is right, you could take the dumbest song ever and make it sound legendary...

Anyway, looking at their songs, I find it hard to believe there isn't a single actual "musician" in the entire group. Just come up with three or four decent verses that actually rhyme, fit them into a basic melody, and throw it out to the crowd. Most of their stuff nowadays is just too predictable, maybe except for two or three tracks. (Like those old ones... "Players leaving," "Blue, blue, we gave our lives for you," or "Ale ale ale, I love the Lakers")

Here's a song that was basically made for the stadium stands. The lyrics, the melody, everything... especially that "na na na" part. I guess even the lyrics fit perfectly given the whole mess with the club and the fans right now.

thank me later

I have to admit, I’m actually kind of jealous of those guys for one thing. They don't deal with this endless stream of mental breakdowns where everyone has to perform a deep-dive "ultras analysis" after every single damn game. You know the type. They dissect the chants, debate if the atmosphere actually meant anything, argue about who was yelling into the megaphone too loud... it never ends. Even that one self-proclaimed hardcore guru manages to crack a smile once in a while, but this crowd...

Just wanted to give a quick shout-out to all those kids who showed up yesterday from god knows where—using whatever sketchy schemes they could find—just because they couldn't snag a ticket for the big rivalry game. Meanwhile, the North Stand was looking pretty pathetic and half-empty 🙏
Next time, maybe try heading over to the South Side—there should be plenty of seats available there if you can actually manage to buy them 🙂

A few thoughts here: 1. The sound system is a massive headache—the megaphone basically only hits one side of the stands, leaving everyone else out of the loop. 2. We really need to spread those drums out more across the section so the whole crowd can actually catch the beat. 3. Can we please ditch that "I love my team" clapping thing? It’s never been our style, and honestly, it just creates this weird, messy two-tone effect that kills the vibe. 4. Let's try not to loop the exact same songs over and over during the match. 5. Some of the classics, like the old anthems about moving forward, have totally fallen by the wayside—and those were always the ones that got us most hyped.

Thanks for listening. Catch ya later.

Thanks, and take care.

6. Just get in there and give it a shot.

I honestly don't get why everyone is obsessed with this slapping around; I love the LA Galaxy, I really do, but this just isn't it.

Now this is how you actually play the game—much better.

This might be my last take on this topic... I honestly always felt so bad for Pep whenever we actually had him on the ropes and were just a few plays away from pulling off an upset. If only we had one player like this to absolutely dismantle half of the Premier League

I’ve always felt a certain melancholy regarding the music whenever we were just a few miles away from greatness, feeling like we lacked that one singular anthem capable of absolutely tearing through a crowd like the guys in Chicago
....

Perhaps it is simply because we haven't quite mastered the art of that specific kind of energy. We have an entire catalog of songs where we've stripped away the original rhythms and forced them to fit our own style, mostly because we lack that innate "Italian" melodic sensibility in our DNA; instead, everything we produce tends to lean heavily toward raw, aggressive chanting.🙂
