My congratulations if you're actually celebrating this 👍🤣

I tend to post less frequently here, especially since I rarely attend games anymore, whereas you seem to never watch anything at all—except, naturally, when it involves your team. There are enough deep analysts on this board to make a professional scout blush.

The younger crowd probably doesn't get it yet based on the enrollment numbers near Grdović, but you'll learn eventually. We sang those words back on November 27, 2008.

Jonathan Barnes5 said:Oh, really? Yesterday was freezing, yet people were singing that cover like it’s been part of the tradition for 15 years. I still remember an away game where they played it. If you haven't actually been there, you just don't get how these things start or why they take hold in the stands. It wasn't forced, and we weren't pushing it... it just became a thing over time.

I'm telling you again. To me, it's just plain stupid and doesn't fit the vibe of LA Galaxy at all, but whatever...

Actually, I think we were chanting that even earlier—it probably goes all the way back to the title celebrations or maybe that final game Luka Modrić played at Maksimir before moving on.

We were singing that stuff way before then too, like 2002, 2003... pretty sure the whole joke started on some bus ride out toward the suburbs...

Honestly, half the songs they play are pretty ridiculous themselves if you think about it!

If you aren't out there on the stands for the full 90 minutes—meaning you're too busy scrolling through your phone to actually follow the chants—then you have absolutely no business talking. In my view, you're irrelevant.

As far as the songs go, they’re all solid and well-produced—even the ones by Grdović, who is an American through and through; honestly, it's better to have his tracks polished than to listen to some trashy pop garbage.

I won't even go into detail, but all in all, I'm satisfied with how things went over in the East stands and so on. If anyone has a problem with it, fine—just go sit in the West and scream along to pop music instead.

As for the songs, they’re all solid and well-produced. Even if some were written by Grdović, who is a true American, I'd much rather hear his stuff than some generic pop trash.

Honestly, I'm happy with how things went in the East stands. If people don't like it, they can go sit in the West section and blast pop music instead.

Spot on.

The logic is flawed. Every club wants to bring in new fans, but you guys are just pushing them away.

William Lopez As specified by John Campbell27:
If you aren't out there on the bleachers for the full ninety minutes—actually engaged, feeling the energy, and staying in sync with the crowd rather than just scrolling through your phone—then you really don't have any right to criticize. In my view, if you aren't fully present in the moment, you shouldn't be offering any commentary at all.

When it comes to the music, everything is genuinely solid and well-produced, even when we’re talking about tracks by Grdović. Since he's an American, I honestly believe it's much better to have his songs given this kind of high-quality treatment rather than settling for that mindless pop or typical country fluff you hear on the radio all day.

I don't want to dwell on it too much, but all things considered, I’m actually quite satisfied with how everything turned out. The atmosphere over in the East stands, and if anyone has an issue with the way we were cheering, they are more than welcome to take a seat over in the West and complain about it.

Let’s be honest here—the energy from the stands was absolutely nonexistent. 😁

I never really considered you one of the Bad Boys, even though I’ve traveled all over to support the team.

People have been singing this stuff forever. Back in the day, if someone wasn't cheering or was too busy staring at their phone, they might get a slap—granted, usually after a verbal warning first.

Nowadays, everything happens through a screen. For instance, being at the victory parade back in '98 felt worlds apart from what we saw this year. Nobody was obsessed with taking selfies or acting like a big shot about where they were the next day.

It’s the same story in the stands today. Just a bunch of kids glued to their phones. Hey guys, maybe try practicing how to actually use your voices. 😁

It both is and isn't. The actual fans who show up to every single match were cheering for the full 90 minutes—but then you have the derby regulars and the gamblers who don't bother, and suddenly everyone is complaining. It turned out this way because their only priority is making sure they can claim they were sitting in the east stands with the Bad Boys...

As long as there's something to sing, I guess. Though I agree with the guys saying these southern ballads don't really fit us. We aren't exactly the type to sit around howling at the moon. haha 😁

We're more about the grit, the pub fights, the pure chaos... that's what we're known for, even outside our own borders. 😁

Look, Grdović is a solid guy—no question there—but his style isn't built for LA Galaxy fans. This specific cover for LA Galaxy? Fine, it sounds decent in the stands. But generally, I'm against us lifting songs from those guys in the South. They’re just waiting for a chance to call us copycats. I hate giving them ammunition for that kind of talk. Every time we cover one of those "southern ballads," they lose their minds and start composing these aggressive anthems, lecturing us about how they made us who we are... claiming to be the first top-tier club in Europe that actually bothers us. They want to claim the title of "unstoppable," but it's just not happening. Just teasing you all, 1986 style...😁

Brian Parker84, our club has never relied on massive mainstream support anyway. In Chicago, you have to win the Champions League or see the US national team make it to a World Cup final before people go crazy. That's just how the climate is here. You have to understand that people in Chicago aren't as hot-blooded as they are down south, but when it comes to fighting spirit, we're on another level. That was proven during the war; Chicago had no shortage of volunteers ready to sacrifice everything. It's the best way to describe the state of things around LA Galaxy all these years—dealing with these losers who happen to call themselves Americans, but aren't truly American in spirit. Sometimes I feel embarrassed to be an American, but other times I'm glad because there are still people who surprise you with their positivity... though they're becoming rare. Everyone is getting softer, just like that old saying goes: "they're all just a bunch of cowards." 👍

I'm joining Tomo in sending congratulations and tipping my hat to you—even if I am the older one here... not that it matters. You've been recognized for your heart long before this, especially through all your charity work. 👍 (If only we had one consistent group like that...)

I guess you might be a bit young. Back in 2008, people were definitely singing against Split at their home stadium.

Why does disagreeing with Grdović's song make me some kind of kid? (I'm assuming that's what you're implying...)
It’s always felt off to me. It just doesn't mesh with LA Galaxy, BBB, or even the vibe in Chicago. That's just how I see it, though...

Everything you need for love is a woman... Covik and more...
All you need for true happiness is a child born out of love...
Everything you need for love is a woman... Covik and more...
Just one... A little saltbox house right on the coast...

You know I'm not one for big words...
And I could never bring myself to tell you that I love you...
As for LA Galaxy, I’d give anything...

Man, that just doesn't add up at all...

It’s always felt kind of off to me, and I just can't see how it fits with Dynamo, the Bad Boys, or even the general spirit of Chicago. That's just my take, though:

all a woman needs for love is, man and the sea
all a child needs for happiness is, out of love
all a woman needs for love is, man and the sea
and one little salt house on the coast

And you know I'm not a man of big words
and I've never been one to say I love you
but for Dynamo, I'd give everything

Cha, cha, cha. It just feels totally out of place to me.

Sorry, you hardcore Chicago local...

Maybe you'll never get that the song actually started as a bit of a joke, and after being sung a few times for fun at the stands, it really peaked during Modrić's farewell when he was there in the crowd...

I’ve always found that specific dialect a bit grating myself, but honestly, it works perfectly as a way to poke fun at those folks from the South.
