I've been thinking about putting together a little Intel NUC setup that can run macOS (maybe even some old-school Windows XP if I can swing it), but my main goal is to keep the power draw as low as humanly possible.
It’s mostly just gonna be for basic stuff—browsing the web, knocking out emails, doing some light typing in a text editor, and maybe playing some music in the background.
Now, look, I totally get that I could just head over to Best Buy or something and grab a pre-built machine for maybe $100 or $200, but I'm kind of obsessed with the idea of building the absolute cheapest rig possible that can still handle those specific tasks without breaking a sweat.
Has anyone here actually gone down this rabbit hole before? If you have, do you have any advice on which single-board computer I should start looking at? Like, should I go with a Raspberry Pi, or maybe something like a Banana Pi or an Orange Pi?
