Best laptop under $750?

Hey there. My current Dell Inspiron has finally reached its expiration date and it's ready for the scrap heap.

Looking for some advice on picking up a new machine. I need an SSD—ideally 256GB—and at least 8GB of RAM.

I don't play games, and I never will.
No photo editing either. I don't touch Adobe Photoshop or even MS Paint; it's just the basics—Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, maybe some Microsoft Excel.

Since I work from home, I need things to be smooth. No lagging, no stuttering, nothing. Just steady performance.

I don't care much about how it looks, though I'd prefer it not to be a total tank.

My budget is $1667 Max. It's pretty important that whatever retailer I use offers long-term financing, like 24 monthly installments through somewhere like Best Buy or Walmart... being a student, that makes life a lot easier. 😁

For some reason, I can't edit my own posts. Anyway, circling back to multitasking—if I've got a few tabs open along with Discord and Skype, I just need the thing to actually run smoothly. 😁 Like I mentioned, I won't be touching Adobe Photoshop or anything heavy like that. Maybe I'll stream a movie through the HDMI port to a TV now and then. I'm just hoping my "wish list" isn't too long or totally unrealistic for the budget I'm working with.

I spotted a couple of HP Pavilions that seem like decent enough options.

What's actually going on with your laptop? What kind of CPU are we talking about here? Honestly, I don't see why you'd bother replacing the whole thing. Just drop in an SSD, maybe upgrade the RAM if you have to, and you're good to go...

Good specs for the price, Full HD IPS. Looks modern, runs Windows 10. $1590 grabbed it because there was a sale.
