Best PC gamepad?

I need some help picking out a controller. It has to work on a Windows 7 OS and wide compatibility is a massive priority for me. Analog sticks are a non-negotiable requirement. I won't even bother mentioning build quality or durability—that should be a given at this point. I don't care about vibration or any of those extra features.

It seems like there aren't many solid options out there within a reasonable budget (I'm looking to spend up to about $83, though if I can find something just as good for less, I’ll definitely go that route). On top of that, finding actual info, user experiences, or decent reviews is surprisingly difficult. So far, the Logitech Rumblepad caught my eye, but it's pretty old and I have no idea how it handles newer titles or its compatibility with Windows 7. Then there's the Xbox 360 controller for Windows. Am I making a mistake here? What do you guys recommend?

I recently picked up two wireless Rumblepads, and since I already have an existing wireless keyboard from Apple, I find myself wondering about the technical logistics. Does one need to pair each controller with its own individual receiver, or is there a way to run both pads through a single dongle? Furthermore, would it be possible to run everything—including the keyboard—off the same receiver used by the keyboard? I am also curious if I will be required to go through the driver installation process separately for each individual pad. If anyone has dealt with this specific setup before, I would appreciate your insight.
