Black Screen

Last night, my screen suddenly went pitch black while the computer was still running perfectly fine—I actually knew it was active because I could still hear all the game audio playing in the background.

I tried checking if my keyboard was still responding by hitting the Caps Lock key, and everything seemed to be working normally, yet the screen stayed totally dark.
By this morning, I had to manually press the power button on the monitor about three or four times before it finally kicked in, and now it’s working... mostly. I can see my entire desktop and play games without an issue, except for one thing: the screen is noticeably dimmer. Even with the brightness cranked up to 100%, the backlight just feels much darker than it should be.

The kicker is that every single time I shut down my PC, the same thing happens—the screen goes black, and I have to repeatedly toggle the monitor's power just to get the desktop to show up again.

Has anyone else dealt with something like this, or does anyone have any ideas? I’m definitely not a tech expert, so I’m honestly at a loss here. Also, if anyone knows how to fix that brightness issue, please let me know—it's incredibly dim and I really can't get used to it.

Is that an LCD screen you're working with?

If the backlight had kicked the bucket, the whole thing would just stay dark... you wouldn't be seeing any image at all.

It could be the inverter or some chip inside the monitor, but honestly, if that's the case, just take it to a repair shop. Let the pros swap the part out.

First things first, though—try plugging the monitor into a different computer. We need to be 100% sure the problem isn't actually the PC before we start tearing things apart.

I somehow managed to get it working, and the black screen isn't there anymore—so that’s a win! I'm thinking the issue might have actually been with the outlet, though the display still looks a bit off; one half of the screen is noticeably darker than the other, almost like it's all blurry or out of focus

I'm still leaning towards you trying it on a different PC... I mean, what if your graphics card is just straight-up dying?
