Hi,

My current drive is slowly dying on me, so I need a replacement. Here’s my current setup:

Motherboard: Asrock N68-S3 UCC AM3
HDD: Seagate 500 GB SATA2 16 mb F3

The PC is strictly for web browsing, so I won't need more than 100GB, and I don't care for an SSD.

How reliable are these budget drives currently listed? For example:

I believe my motherboard only has a SATA2 port; I assume using a SATA3 drive isn't an issue, even if it runs a bit slower... it doesn't matter to me. Also, does the physical size—2.5'' vs 3.5''—actually matter? It's a standard-sized case.

Sure, you could grab one, but honestly? Those drives are pretty sluggish—definitely slower than what you’re running right now.

If you can swing the extra cash, I'd definitely suggest just going with an SSD instead.

It might be a bit slower than using a SATA3, but it'll still feel way faster than either of those HDDs.

Personally, I’d just go with an SSD if you don't mind spending a few extra bucks.

I know it’s slower than my current drive, but it honestly doesn't matter; this is just a weekend PC for browsing and YouTube. I don't mind paying more, but I really don't need anything high-end. Given the specs, the motherboard, and everything else, can I just stick with this cheap option?
