I'm planning to pick up a PC in a few days, so I could use some help fine-tuning the configuration.
What are your thoughts on this build?
Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti OC
ASRock B85M-HDS
Intel Core i5-4570
Kingston HyperX Fury DDR3 8GB 1600MHz CL10
I am also looking for recommendations for a quiet CPU cooler, a reliable power supply, and a budget-friendly case—looks don't matter to me at all. I intend to order everything from http://www.newegg.com/ as I believe they have the best prices. Please let me know your suggestions. Thanks.

What do you guys think of this build;
Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti OC
ASRock s1150 B85M-HDS
Intel Core i5-4570
Kingston HyperX Fury DDR3 8GB 1600MHz CL10
I also want recommendations for a quiet cooler, a PSU, and a cheap case—looks don't matter. I'd order from http://www.newegg.com/ since they seem to have the best prices. Thanks for the help.

They're cheap, sure, but "cheap" usually means a headache later...
If you're cool with waiting two months for a warranty claim, go for it. Just check 🙂

What are you actually using the rig for?

for gaming 😁 I'm really hoping I won't have to deal with any returns or warranty claims. I checked the prices at Micro Center, but they're significantly higher than what I saw at Best Buy, which is a pretty big gap. Does anyone know if Micro Center offers any kind of discount for paying in cash?

nah, they have one set price for cash...

I wouldn't build anything through Best Buy for one simple reason: my own experience. They kept me waiting nearly a month for delivery, then sent me stuff that had already been opened and was broken... plus a two-month headache just to get a refund...

I'll put together a list from Micro Center

1 x AMD FX-Series X6 6300 3.5GHz, 14MB, 95W, AM3+, FD6300WMHK
1 x 8GB (1x8GB) Crucial DDR3, 1600MHz CL11
1 x Thermaltake Contac 21, 775, AM2, AM2+, AM3, AM3+, FM1, 1155, 1156
1 x Zalman Z1 mid tower case. 199(W)x432(H)x457(D)mm. ATX standard
1 x TOSHIBA 500GB, 7200rpm, SATA 6 Gb/s, 32MB, DT01ACA050
1 x Gigabyte 970A-DS3P, AM3+, AMD 970 SB950, 4x DDR3 2000(O.C.)/1866
1 x AMD Radeon R9 270, R9-270X-CDBC, Black Edition, Dual Dissipation Edition
1 x EVGA 500W, HyperX, PPA5005003, 12cm fan

$1499
CPU is basically in the same league as a non-K i5🙂, really solid GPU, 8 gigs of RAM, everything you need for decent gaming (no fluff)

if you want all the bells and whistles, try this:

1 x AMD FX-Series X6 6300 3.5GHz, 14MB, 95W, AM3+, FD6300WMHK
1 x 8GB (1x8GB) Crucial DDR3, 1600MHz CL11
1 x Zalman Z1 mid tower case. 199(W)x432(H)x457(D)mm. ATX standard
1 x TOSHIBA 500GB, 7200rpm, SATA 6 Gb/s, 32MB, DT01ACA050
1 x EVGA 500W, HyperX, PPA5005003, 12cm fan
1 x AMD Radeon R9 270, R9-270A-CDFC, Dual Dissipation Edition 925M Boost
1 x LG GH24NS DVD burner, DVD±RW, 24x DVD±R, 8x DL, 40x CD-R
1 x Gigabyte 970A-DS3P, AM3+, AMD 970 SB950, 4x DDR3 2000(O.C.)/1866
1 x Thermaltake Contac 21, 775, AM2, AM2+, AM3, AM3+, FM1, 1155, 1156

$1482

What’s actually the difference between that i5 and the AMD option? If I am forced to go with the AMD route, I would prefer to hit at least $1667 or maybe even a bit more. I need a motherboard with plenty of USB ports, and as long as the audio supports 5.1, I am satisfied; I don't require much else since my primary focus is gaming. A DVD drive is unnecessary. For the graphics card, I am looking for a 256-bit bus with 2GB or 3GB of VRAM if possible, and I don't care about extra outputs on the card—just one single monitor port will suffice. I am also considering picking up a different cooler, perhaps from Thermaltake, because my current one makes a buzzing noise that I find quite annoying. To be honest, I am not entirely sure what 😁 I should aim for to ensure I won't have to worry about this PC for at least the next three or four years after I finish shopping. I plan on buying everything from Micro Center, so if you are willing to help, please put together a build for me 😁. Any advice or guidance you can offer would be appreciated 😁.

And I have absolutely no intention of messing around with overclocking or any of those other schemes. xD

I think I'm going to go with:
AMD FX-Series X6 6300
AMD Radeon R9 3GB
8GB of DDR3 (2x4GB) Crucial at 1600MHz, or perhaps some HyperX Fury, also in a 2x4GB configuration (just in case one stick dies, at least the other will keep me running)😁
A 1TB Western Digital Blue HDD, and maybe a 64GB SSD to boot Windows from
EVGA Black Edition 650W
Plus some motherboard and an ultra-quiet cooler, ideally very silent xD
I already have a DVD drive, so I don't need that. What are your thoughts on this setup? Is it worth grabbing that AMD processor since it's about $167 cheaper than the Intel option?

Here's the deal for $1667, you get an 8-core chip and a solid card for gaming. You'll be set for a long time 🙂

Or Intel 🙂. You won't even need an extra cooler here, the one included with the CPU is plenty 🙂
